Da Capo II - 11 (月島小恋の憂鬱)

Published by Hinano at 12:42 am under Da Capo II

I’ve confirmed that this series is going to be 13 episodes. With that in mind, it looks like the Amakase/Robot thing being the main issue and with Koko being walked all over is inevitable. As everyone previously commented and posted in their blogs - this really does appear to be the dumbest arc chosen to be animated. I’ve never played the game so I can’t comment, but I was under the impression that in Da Capo the guy will ultimately end up with his non-blood related sister and that other characters are just there to make the gameplay longer.

I probably sound like a broken record but I just feel damn sorry for Koko. He was like this nice guy for 3 episodes, and the rest he’s a Yoshipooky and the last few weeks he just keeps walking over her more and more. Because the series is so short, I felt like they didn’t develop anybody’s personalities. In the case with Nanaka, the one episode where it seemed like she liked him - felt incredibly out of place. To me she just feels like the “supportive friend” for Koko rather than a potential rival. Yume felt like a side character for Amakase and Otome felt like a background character until one week she’s like “we’re two as one!”

I can’t believe how much potential they had to work with, but instead it felt unplanned and just thrown around for no reason. They couldn’t decide where to take this entire story and eventually settled on “let’s beat up on Koko and let her end up with the jerk anyway.” Unfortunately we won’t be seeing any nice boats in this series, and while technically Yoshipooky hasn’t actually cheated on her, he probably would just be as happy playing with figures in his room or fapping with a body pillow, because like some of the rare few harem leads, having lots of women creates the opposite effect in him.

I guess rather than calling this series bad or horrible, at this point it just feels disappointing because as a “sequel” it didn’t live to my original expectations. Although as a stand alone series, I really think the robot story is pretty overblown.

Count me in the group that wants Yoshiyuki to not end up with any girls. He is too immature for man-woman relationship.

All this time I was suspicious about that opening sequence and so I guess I was right, Minatsu is the main character.

I played some of the game, and I’m getting disappointed too. They screwed around with Koko and Nanaka’s stories and decided to overblow the weakest story in the game which is Minatsu’s. There may definitely be a second season, but with a weak first outing like this why should I care about it?

I hope the robot girl that hate humans goes “school days” on every other characters especially that brain-dead lead guy. That would definitely make up for the lack of any drama in this show. If they ever make another sequels: 1) FIRE THE DAMN WRITERS OF THE LAST TWO SEASONS. 2) HIRE SOMEONE WITH A BRAIN TO WRITE INSTEAD. 3) DON’T DO A HOOK-UP IN THE FIRST EPISODE, THAT IS THAT THE ONE UNSPOKEN RULE IN A HAREM SHOW.
IF they follow these rules, DA CAPO will be the great show it was in the first season.

How many harem series has been ruined by conceited, inconsistent harem leads? Man, I want Junichi of DCI back XD

Its very difficult to make a sequel of an anime. There are ef and clannad that are simply putting a better show than this.

Stripey> Me too he was awesome (especially his character design in season 1 :D )

shh> It’s difficult and most of them suck but I enjoyed Slayers Next immensly and it still remains one of my favorite “sequels” to this day. Maybe the anime these days just aren’t cutting it.

ttt> I wish that would happen lol

bluemist> I sorta skip through the OP sequence so maybe thats why I never caught on

    maglor> seconded!
