Manga Review: Modotte! Mamotte Lollipop Vol. 3
So if
you missed the mushy moments between Zero and Nina, well I recommend you pick up the next to Modotte Mamotte Lollipop books because that’s pretty much all it is. It’s gotten to the point where they add some sort of storyline in order to ultimately conclude with Nino and Zero hugging and/or kissing. But you know what, a cheesy romantic shoujo manga is fine too.
The only annoying this in this volume were the 2 new characters who were created for the purpose of what I mentioned above, but they look like they were rejects out of some robot anime - actually at one point I thought the girl was an android..but turns out she just likes to cosplay as one and unlike her brother, can use magic.

So continuing from the last volume, Ichi catches Nina and Zero naked in the bath lol..after all the dorama they wanna disqualify Zero and Ichi because by Nina being Zero’s girlfriend it gives them an unfair advantage. In order to not get disqualified Nina and Zero have to pretend to not be dating and so they say “oh I don’t like him” and “I have no feelings for her”. Of course later after Zero saves her she admits that she was just saying that for disqualification prevention purposes.

So anyway the two new characters Al and Mel who are twins come to “test” the magic candidates. Unfortunately Al hates all magic users so he likes to tease them all in a mean way. His first “test” is for the first person to kiss his sister. Everyone refuses until he changes the requirements from “on the lips” to on the cheek. Despite all this Nina is still unnerved.

But of course at the end when Zero like saves her from Al once again they do something that could potentially disqualify them again. Actually at this point anytime they have a raburabu moment they lose a piece of Nina’s crystal.

The next chapter is pretty much the same thing except Mel grows some weird infatuation with Zero while Al tries hitting on Nina. Somehow she trusts him (because she’s a brainless joshikousei) and he tricks her ONCE again by trapping her in a glass dome. But since Nina has lungs of steel she yells out loud enough for Zero to hear and save her for the umpteenth time.
So genreally that’s about the gist of this volume. Stay tuned for volume 4: Nina and the gang graduate Junior HS and move on to High School.
