KimiKiss: Haru no Sonata - 05

This episode started nice with the Mao x Kai stuff….but the moment they started showing the stupid frog doll crap I began rolling around the couch trying to keep myself from falling asleep. Kazuki like…ruined it with his I WANNA REVIVE THE EXPERIMENT crap OTL and the truth finally comes out about Yumi: She likes suicidal love stories. How pleasant. ( ̄∀ ̄*) Also all the childhood scenes repeated 10 times bored me to tears.
I dunno if I’ll be able to last through 26 episodes.

*sees it listed as Seinen*

I think the videogame is seinen while the anime has become shoujo
Somehow I doubt it … it supposed to be a dating sim and they are too young for typical seinen that deals with adult life, maybe the light novels are (since this is the typical media blitz of sub-products) but if I start to list what Wikipedia gets wrong ….
Also I do not think the anime became shoujo, I think it tries to include shoujo and that is one of the reasons it fails … trying to juggle too many relationships without prolonged focus in any of then and lacking anything to make the audience to even care about then, even Dragontitsnaugh gives us some reason to watch the next episode.
i don’t really think girls care much for draggy bullshit too. But then different things make people tick so the director might just be one lol.
I agree helspectre but shouja have its own conventions and stereotypes … adding then to another gender is asking for trouble, especially when its direct opposite shounen.
I pointed out this is 1/3 shoujo and 2/3 shounen since I considered this having 3 lead characters with each his own romance (perhaps I can shove the annoying frog sisters in loli-yuri) but as in 2 you have one type (shounen) as in the remaining you have a very different one (shoujo) and it certainly does not help they are using the old archetypes of the genders as there is no tomorrow.
Also the director of this show did Nodame Cantible and Honey and Clover … I have no idea if it was his idea of trying the shoujo elements of what is a shounen harem romance or if it was someone else but its not working.
J.C.Staff is really dropping the ball … first the joke that was ZnT 2, then the slowpoke.jpg of SnS 2 and also this.
The source material is bad enough to work with, dating sims or eroge are hard to work with as it is, I remember seeing Tyokiss (I forgot the actual name, it was something like that) and they decided to make the storyline from the picked “heroine” and it did not worked.
(Rabid fanboy prepares to defend J.C.Staff, but cannot say anything until he actually watches the subtitled episode)
I would say “Remember Potemayo”, but that doesn’t work on this blog.
tooo slow… the whole show is like watching a turtle lay eggs( take about 1 whole day ) and the fact that i juz witness the worst date ever in the history of mankind… OH FOR GODNESSAKE!! some 1 take one of the couple and stick their lips together…. or i’ll get bord to death…
Good because defending the studio is a silly thing. ESPECIALLY if it is a certain Studio K because I will let rip at it regardless of how the mindless masses sing praises of it. ANYWAY… Still not watching this show yet and soooooo I’ll let hinano influence my opinions. >_>
And there are slower shows than this… it’s just I can’t remember any at the moment because they were so slow that it was… unrememberable. oooo! ooo! I just remembered one. Mahou Tsukai ni taisetsuna koto. Wait… that was JC Staff too… JC Staff… you’re making my life miserable trying to think positive of you… T_T
PS Piano was even slooooooooowwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeerrr but at least I appreciate the piano pieces so that wasn’t so bad.
(Checks post to see if there is any spamfilter trigger words - no s3xys today!)
I actually watched all of Mahou Tsukai but then again it was only like 13 episodes…this is slated to be 26 right? Piano was a drag too tho.
I Like This Seinen ^_^
That revelation about Yumi kind of scared me… I sure hope she doesn’t have suicidal tendencies ^^;;;
KimiKiss is 24 episodes? I thought it was only 13 episodes long, which I think is enough for this series at the pace it’s going.
like wad hino said… this is gona be 1 long and slow series….. and ytd while watching it i fall asleep and fall off my chair pulling my printer and cpu down wif it… and i broke 2 fingers…. -.-” cause the cpu landed on it!! (-_-”) geeeze… i’m 1 unlucky guy…
I forgot it was 26 episodes. *cry* It gets a bit boring sometimes, and I just end up skipping bits of the episode.
Padfoot> ROFL!
Okay, now I’ve seen this episode.
The “issue” that Kimikiss has, that has been pointed out repeatedly, is that it tries to put girl’s romance elements into a boy’s harem comedy. I remember that the original To Heart anime tried something similar, by opting for a slow pace and a nostalgic, sweet atmosphere, showing many parts of the story from the female lead’s point of view, deactivating the harem by making fewer girls romantically interested in the male lead, and providing a love interest for a secondary male character to increase the happy couple count. And what happened? To Heart did one of two things to someone who watched it:
1) put a warm feeling in the viewer’s heart
2) put the viewer to sleep
Kimikiss is walking a similar path and getting similar results. Where one fanboy/fangirl will cheer with every effort made in the multiple relationships, another will simply struggle to stay awake. I can understand why there are people who dislike Kimikiss. Slow pace is slow, and watching the boys struggle to grow spines can be as annoying as it can be inspiring. Kimikiss is clearly not for everyone.
My remarks are biased because of my excessive love for J.C.Staff, but I think Kimikiss is excellent. The childhood memories, although dragged on a bit too long, made perfect sense when it was revealed that Kazuki jumped the farthest. The frog dolls, although ugly, are the non-serious relationship to contrast with the three quite serious ones struggling to get off the ground. Mao and Eiji’s date revealed that Eiji really did live and breathe music and raised questions about their long-term compatibility. And Yuumi’s taste in love stories will influence not only her relationship with Kouichi, but also the project they are working on. What’s going to happen next?
After reading about Shana 2’s descent into oblivion after a promising start, nothing cheers me up quite like Kimikiss.
You bring up good points but my only problem is TO Heart was 13 episodes while this is slated to be 24. I can deal with 13 To Hearts but I don’t know about 24 KimiKisses :S At this point I have a feeling we’re gonna go through a dragfest until episode 18 when shit’s gonna hit the fan or something.
(p.s. I loved to heart back in the day. ~you’re my only feeling heart~ To Heart 2 is for posers!)
still, I think this show is making Clannad run for their money… otherwise there would be simply no contest this season
Clannad is by far superior to this show - then again I’m only saying that because I played the game and know the complexity of the stories while this all seems incredibly shallow
[...] But Kimikiss is not a harem anime. I recently posted this comment on Hinano’s blog: [...]
