Manga Review: Kaichou wa Meidosama! Vol. 3
So this is the 
last volume that I have of this series. Does anybody know when volume 4 is getting released? I thought the back of the book said August but I could be wrong. It looks so moeeeliciously romantic *_* I want! Anyhoo this volume I guess is for the “boys” as it contains a chapter about a cosplay race, a chapter where the maid cafe has “oniichan day” and a ..you guessed it - a trap! Well and if you include the usual amounts of “moeee” here and there! First chapter just deals with a race that involves them picking up a bag of random cosplay and wearing it. Misa gets a maid outfit by coincidence, but then Yukimura wears it for her so that she doesn’t have it. It’s more of a Yukimura + teamwork focused chapter.
Usui has become a regular part-timer there. Clearly not because he needs the money.
In one chapter Misaki scrapes her arm while protecting one of the guys from a falling ladder. Usui is really unhappy about this saying she shouldn’t do stuff like that but she says she would do it for anybody, even him.
So anyway the cafe has a brother theme and all the girls have to say ONIICHAN or ONIITAN to the customers. Unfortunately Misa only has a sister and she never acts like this with her. Honoka gets pissed at her saying that if she can’t do her job as a maid, she’ll be fired (not really.)
Usui on the other hand has no problem with a tsundere imouto character.
One chapter deals with the tenchou’s niece nephew Aoi. Yes he is a trap. If you got nostalgic for Seiko from Lovely Complex, he’s pretty much like that except more obnoxious and well he’s not gay. He just likes girly clothes and dressing up as a girl. When he accidentally saw Misaki changing, he totally blushed and turned away. He got pissed off that Usui didn’t “awe” at him, so he pretended like he’ll do anything but at that moment Usui ripped his shirt open to reveal…boobless! Aoi also got bitchslapped by Misaki saying that everyone knows he’s cute,..even as a boy. Usui apparently has a trap radar and knew this from the start.
The final chapter deals with this one bigot ass who didn’t like the fact that a girl is the student council president. So he wanted to make her look bad by hypnotizing her into thinking she’s drunk. She got drunk and got a really high fever, and even though he could have taken advantage of her, Usui only did his best to help her rest. (Well he took a video on his cell phone as proof for later lol.) The volume ends with him confronting Mr. Hypnotist.

More seriously now, I’ve never read this before. Looks interesting. I will never understand the whole “boy looks/acts like girl but is “normal” and hot” fascination in Japan. I hope that never catches on here. If Superman starts strolling around in a mini-skirt, go-go boots and & halter top, I’m through.
I almost didn’t read After School Nightmare when I saw it’s Hermaphrodite premise. Didn’t think I’d like it. But I paid almost #10 a piece for the first 3 volumes each, and didn’t have anything else to read, and now I’m hooked. Mostly on the non romantic storyline, and I love the artwork! But the whole idea that a perfectly beautiful woman would settle for a man, even risking her life for a man that thinks he’s a Madonna backup dancer, is beyond me.

This is a shoujo manga after all, except since this is hana to yume, all the girls look ugly and all the guys look hot

Arrrgh, I’ve only been able to find volume 1 for download online in RAW form, how annoying!
Heck, I even figured I’d splurge on buying it, but when I went to sasugabooks.com (the usual place to get Japanese manga online) . . . they didn’t have it! So this means I either have to be patient until Anime Boston and hit the dealer room or I take a trip down to New York and go to Kinokuniya.
