Clannad - 02

So this week you get a sneak peek at the two final girls of Clannad: Fuuko and Kotomi (and I guess by now all the Mamiko Noto fanboys are joyfully fapping away in their bedrooms.) Those who’ve played the game, keep quiet, but for those who are watching this anime virginfully, what are your thoughts? You got two females who wield sharp objects. One carves out star(fish) and the other slices complex research manuals. Is that moe?

The scene with Tomoyo’s dad was very tense to me. In the game you couldn’t really tell what was happening as well as seeing it in animated form. I actually disliked his dad at the beginning but when I played the ending for him I cried a river
Also the part where Tomoya yelled to the whole class that Kyou is bi…was golden!
Man I love remembering game jokes *_*.

Also poor Nagisa-chan
Btw I can still remember game voices like it was yesterday. On that note, Kotomi, Tomoyo, Fuuko and Sunohara are the only ones who stayed faithful to their “tone”. Nagisa sounds more like Rena from Higurashi to me these days and Tomoya never had a voice so I had nothing to get used to. The other characters have little role at this point for me to really do any major comparisons. Overall nice episode, I love seeing the game come to life. Probably my feelings about this anime are better than Kanon because the gap between my gameplay and the anime screening was a lot larger than the gap here.
Upcoming Attractions: Nagisa-chan ganbatte! p(☆FI´∀`G´∀`H´∀`T☆)q

I’m liking Fuuko’s dumb imouto personality and Tomoyo’s SNK vs Capcom combos. I’m also liking Kyou and Nagisa (her “tired” voiced is growing in me). But then again this is only the second episode, so I might change my mind.
Hinano, do you use spoiler warnings in your entries? I’m asking because I usually read your posts, but I’m afraid that at some point I might get spoiler-fried reading your CLANNAD thoughts since you’ve played the game.
Just wondering.
I usually don’t but I try to keep a neutral stance as much as I can. I’ve actually tried to have JP help me implement a spoiler tag for comments and so far we haven’t been successful in finding one ^^;
If there’s any MAJOR spoilers that I have to write sometimes I’ll write them in white text so you’d have to highlight it to read it.
I think that the seiyuu Mai Nakahara (Nagisa) is also lending her voice in other anime shows in this season like “KimiKiss”, “Myself, Yourself”, and I don’t what other shows she’s doing besides Clannad and HiguKai. That’s why she sounds kinda tired, raspy, who knows what. You get the idea.
Yea I figured that’s one of the reasons which is kinda sad to me since Nagisa is one of my favorite characters
I know absolutely nothing about this show, but I love the character designs for some reason. One thing that bothered me about Kanon was that one of the girls had no forehead. *shudders*
I’ve been tempted to read about it, but I think I’ll go with the flow on this one. Spoilers don’t really spoil things for me, but it’s nice to be surprised every once in a while.

combo counter FTW!
Sabrina> Which one?
I’m a total Clannad virgin. So I find Kotomi mysterious and Fuuko adorable. Fuuko sounded a little bit like Ayu in parts, and I’m a sucker for that. I’m interested in learning more about Kotomi — why she acts that way if there’s a reason. And if Tomoya will always find her only in the library.
Clannad has so many likeable girls. I’m all for Nagisa since she’s quiet yet seemingly-innocent and cute, Kyou because of tsundere, Tomoyo because of awesome-win, and Fuuko because she seems to be the “token loli” of the series. Ryou and Kotomi are cute, too, but I can’t choose -everyone-, heh.
FUUKO.
FUUKOFUUKOFUUKOFUUKOFUUKO.
But then again…I still have yet to watch the episode. >.> I’ll report back and mention whether or not that still holds true later.
wow ur soo awesome
Girls with razors? I’d hit it.
*Throws Totali into the watanagashi arc of Higurashi
[raises hand] I’m a Clannad virgin. Never particularly liked harem shows though I like some specific ones, when they have better than average character development. Which this one does, for Tomoyo and Nagisa at least. I find the other girls somewhat distracting, though a lot of them are pretty likable. Kyou is kinda funny and the girl with the razor…it’s a bit much
(Though, after School Days, we will never look at a cute girl with a knife in a harem show quite the same way again!)
err… *embarrassed look*
Kotomi and Fuuko made almost no impression on me. Just your typical timid socially-inept passive galge targets who are half a pound of grey matter away from a blow-up doll. I’ll pass.
But it seems those are the kind of girls Emo-kun is attracted to. Which I suppose suits him. It doesn’t make me want to keep watching though. I’ll slog through one more episode since Tsukimiya Nagisa is kinda cute. I’m also a bit interested in Haruhara Harukyou and Tomoyo (haven’t thought of a nickname yet). More humour, less emo would be a good thing. Too bad this is Key and it’ll turn out 10:1 the other way.
Also, narrow screen broadcast is getting on my nerves. There were a lot of scenes with awkward cropping in them.
Well at least they are starting to build up some tension, though the introduction of characters is coming off a bit fast.
I liked the last part, at least the soundtrack is pretty decent.

決まりました!
This show actually isn’t bad and the introduction isn’t awful like with Kanon. I like how they give us a taste of actual drama and the girls aren’t horribly moe like they were in Kanon. I loved Kanon but the main characters would often get on my nerves because the director made them too cute, Clannad makes the characters annoyingly cute but they have redeeming qualities.
Scene with dad: more menace than game but the rapidly changing camera angles spoiled it a bit.
Basketball scene: better than game, didn’t really hit me when I played it.
There’s still a lack of coherence, the “disney magic” feeling in Clannad. The game didn’t pick up until quite a while into the stories, either.
