Fall Firsts 2007: Part 5!
Double your pleasure, double your fun, it’s the statement of the ranting in Hinano gum. On to part 5!
Rental Magica - This COULD be a cool show…10 years ago. Something about it just reminds me of something I must have seen ages ago and it almost feels like a deja vu to me. The only thing I can really think of is Gatekeepers and xxxHolic but there’s definitely something familiar about this whole atmosphere. Unfortunately it fails to impress me and nothing about it stands out enough to keep me glued to the screen. Frankly it seems like “rental case of the week” until some random plot happens surrounding the Shacho Iwa guy and his eyeball.
Minami-ke - Choco Coronotes meet your new rival: CREAM STEW! I’m not gonna rag on this show because I just really hate slice of life shows so those who think that 3 sisters all with class-A stereotype personalities are OH SO FUCKING HILLARIOUS! …are probably going to enjoy this. What bothered me the most is the way they draw mouths. Rather than the standard mouth when it’s open, it looks like the shape of a water drop or a tear drop. I wanna go in there and surgically cut their mouth and be like THERE YOU GO NOW YOU CAN PROBABLY FIT ALL YOUR TERRIBLY COOKED FOOD INTO THERE! Anyways this one’s a passer for me, I stopped when the loli sister was making the middle dumbass eat her fruit stew that was supposed to be pancakes.
Shugo Chara - Ok ok since everyone yelled at me to watch it…I did. I’m so embarrassed to watch a show aimed at 11 year olds lol. It was kinda cute though…brings me back to the Sugar Sugar Rune days. I’ll check out another episode, maybe I’ll blog about it. It’s kinda fun to laugh at “oh no an evil catboy and an oujisama who rejected me! now I must use my magical mascots to win back his heart!” Only thing is if this show goes beyond 13 episodes it’ll be dropped. I’m not gonna sit for another Kamichama filler fest or another Kirarin rongu-episode marathon. (The damn show’s still airing!)
Prism Ark - Welcome to 1996, where fighting evil women with big breasts and fanservice are a plenty. Is this season the trent to bring back old anime themes (or shows like YUA lol)? I think I’ve seen this setup in so many old shows, noteably stuff like Slayers, Bakuretsu Hunters and Maze. We are not amused. This could be a cool show for someone who’s tired of DBZ and Naruto and is ready for the next generation of COOL SHOWS! In any case this is a definite no for me, and when they zoomed in on some girl’s huge rack I went “Oh my god” and JP goes “You can’t say OMG after Dragonaut anymore.” 
Maple Story - Uh well it seems I’m not the only one who got a raw that had no sound lol. Although I scrolled through it just out of curiosity and HOLY FUCKING SHIT THE CHARACTER DESIGNS! THE GOGGLES THEY DO NOTHING! *eyes bleed* Everyone rags on Ragnarok the Animation being terrible, but at least the people in there looked like people rather than deformed chibi elves. The ugliness of the animation is indirectly proportionate to the brain level of the people who actually played this game for more than 3 days. I’m not even gonna wait for a good raw, good riddance. 
So all in all, my Sundays at this point are empty.

High five on the greatest Maple Story raw ever.
Prism Ark is based on a eroge game, never played it and it seems to be a visual novel according to wikipedia and a sequel to Prism Heart.
That alone says a lot, even if Utawarerumono was pretty good (failing in animation quality here and there) we cannot say the same of majority of anime based on those games.
I thought Shugo Chara was awesome! …..but I was too embarrassed to talk about it. Mmm……COOL AND SPICY! oh god I said it…
I don’t think Shugo Chara can get past 13 episodes considering there’s only four volumes. I mean what are they gonna do, put a 36 episode hot spring arc o.O?
As for Rental Magica, the lead character was voiced by Jun Fukuyama which is why it may be xxxHOLiC deja vu. Not to mention both those guys have one eye that’s completely screwed up…
I’m glad that there’s at least one day that’s the major suckage because my watch list is overflowing.
I admit that I played Maple Story for more than three days … but I had the presence of mind to stop after a week, and the closest I’ll get to watching the anime is reading this blog entry on it. Oh, the stupidity burns …
I’m with you on the Shugo Chara–it looks cute, but it makes me feel like I’m 12 again ^_^;

Only shana and is any good! So there’s only two shows to watch which leaves plenty of time left over to game. Civ4 is always good because you can capture Kyoto and the raze it to the ground! (including unnamed studios) MWAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAh.

Correct. They did that to pita. 4 volumes out and then a 26 episode show.

Actually, Shugo Chara has 5 (published) volumes so far and is still running in Nakayoshi, so 26 episodes would make more sense.
^ Okay well blame the loser who told me that it was 4 volumes but still how the hell would they be able to stretch 5 volumes into a 26 episode series? Considering most 26 episode series use around 10 volumes-ish I don’t see a 26 episode series with 4 or 5 volumes regardless.
Oh and I don’t see where you’ve found the 5 volumes Di Gi Kazune. If you look on the ANN page, the 5 volumes include the 2 English releases. Wikipedia says 4 and so does AnimeSuki so I’ll stick with 4.

So far it looks like everything I was looking forward to is going to be a disappointment…oh well, more time for gaming this way.

I know it’s 5 volumes and counting because I have read the first four volumes and excerpts from the fifth (the fifth comes out Nov. 11). In addition, the manga is still running in Nakayoshi -__-;;

What’s the difference in trying to make a 26 episode show out of 4 or 5 volumes of material. The point is it is going to end up like pita if it goes 26.

Just watched prism ark out of boredom. One good description. Boobs + Lolis + Magic. 2/3 isn’t too bad but they have to speed things up faster.
I understand your xxxholic reference to Rental Magica; having just watched it. It was ok. I didn’t recognize the xxxholic guy’s voice at first either, so I don’t think that it’s it. But hopefully it will be subbed enough to fill the huge void on my Ipod.

i jsut saw it and it was pretty funny and the art/design of chararecter is pretty good :D! i think this could end on a 13 episoded series if the producers become lazy or something xD
Well, you aren’t missing much on Maple Story anime. Watched the first episode raw and I was totally bored by the lack of any drama or good plot. And Henessy bunnies with toy arrows and bows? Ugh. I can’t believe they bastardize my favorite class with such travesty.
Shugo chara’s not bad… if it doesn’t have fillers… but then seeing that I am a thirteen year old, I might have a different view of it from the others.
i watch and in love with shugo chara . mainly because of ikuto. rental magica is a ok show but most eps are boring so i skip it to see the comedy.
