Fall Firsts 2007: Part 4!

Published by Hinano at 2:26 pm under First Impressions

Continuing with the trend of the shitty emo fall season here’s part 4 coming at ya!

ef -tale of memories - I HATE YOU SHAFT DIE IN A FIRE YOU RUINED WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD SHOW. No seriously, why the hell do they gotta insert weird scenes every 5 minutes? This isn’t Zetsubou Sensei or Negima, for a serious anime couldn’t you at least toned down your stupid effects? We don’t need one every second to get the point accross, in fact you are throwing me off my emotional train of thought here by inserting random shit that totally disrupts the flow of the show. Also I don’t know if they had any part in direction but I felt like I was watching some kind of daytime soap opera where every 6-8 minutes, the scene would change into a completely different story and you had to keep up with like 6 different stories every week (even though most of them were “how dare you sleep with JENNY!” and “we’re trapped on a deserted island full of rabid tigers!”). I couldn’t make it past the halfway point. Thank you SHAFT, you ruined what could have been a great anime.

Kimi Kiss -pure rouge- Alright so this one wasn’t so bad. What I found most intriguing is the guy who gets the kiss in episode 1 isn’t even (what I presume to be) the main character. Also what I find interesting is how the main character has a crush on his classmate rather than his childhood friend wielding a bath towel in front of him. The male cast is pretty noteable although I can’t say much for the female cast. The seiyuu for Mao, the only role I can recall her in vaguely is Miyu from Super Gals anime. Well it has girls and boys and school life and kissing. I think I’m sold. Will check out the next episode, and hopefully pick this as my Saturday show.

At this rate it looks like my blogging schedule is gonna end up being 50% dramas because the fall dramas look a lot more promising.

Don’t really know why you have a problem Ef a tale of memories looks cool to me.

Problem is I hate SHAFT. :(

You should not really judge an anime by just 15 minutes, you should give it at least 2 or 3 episodes.

Nuuu! I thought ef was great! Oh well apple and oranges I guess. Hey what about Shugo Chara I found it undeniably charming. Like really. Oh and what doramas are you interested in the next coming week?

  5. Hinano UNITED STATESon 07 Oct 2007 at 2:50 pm

shh> Its not the episods or the story I have aproblem with, its that visually I can’t stand watching it. It’s completely disruptive to my train of thought, I feel like I’m high on weed when I’m watching it.

Ivy> One major one is Hataraki Man but I can’t recall the rest. I remember giving JP a list of the ones I liked and I had like 10-11 I Had interest in. Shugo Chara I never got the raw for, but based on the manga summary it seems like another Kirarin Revolution/Mamotte Lollipop and I’m rather sick of those types of shows.

Is there going to be a Hataraki Man LA? I wonder what they will use to show MAN MODE.

    @Hinano

I think you should try out Shugo Chara before labeling it that. It’s a lot more enjoyable than those two. Btw, the manga runs in Nakayoshi, the anthology that contains Kamichama Karin. Plus the manga has those slightly smutty elements that you like :D

I second the suggestion to try out Shugo Chara. I have the first volume of the manga and enjoyed it. If nothing goes wrong, it’ll be the Death by Cute anime of the season. Studio Satelight (Kamichama Karin, Galaxy Angel Rune) is doing the animation.

“Leave it to Su! I’ll settle it crisply and fluffily–”

“I’ll be waiting forever for your text message.”

I’m with the others on the Shugo Chara recommendation. It really stands out from the other mahou shoujo series. Well to me at least. But it’s your choice.

And I liked the visual effects of ef. But that’s just me.

    >> I feel like I’m high on weed when I’m watching it

That’s the very essence of SHAFT, I’m betting their animation team is high on something when they produce their shows.

I felt the same way when watching clannad as when you were watching ef, hinano. They put some random scene there to make it look all mysterious and artsy when it was not needed at all. Wierd stuff.

Kimikiss seems like a show that i will prolly be hooked on. I believe i will not be a stranger to the comment box for the blog entries for this series, hinano.

flou> I’ve no doubt the manga could be good but the anime always ends up being some sort of excuse to milk off little girls in Japan’s money fulla annoying fillers T_T

Sixten> Now that you told me that, I am DEFINITELY not going to watch it. Lol Sattelite and bug eyed Karin lol

    Shirukii> THANK YOU.

Danny> well the difference is they only did it once at the beginning. In EF they did it every 5 seconds.

Eh, Plan “Persuade Hinano to watch Shugo Chara” backfired. I shouldn’t have mentioned the name of Sate*****, it seems Hinano disapproves of them. It’s like last season with Pote**** all over again.

The only Shaft show I watched to the end was Moon Phase. It had some pretty good parts but was full of “WHAT ON EARTH!?” with the egg-laying turtle and the washtubs falling on people’s heads constantly. And the final episode made no sense to me whatsoever.

I’ll be watching Kimikiss to see whether J.C.Staff can follow Pote**** up with another great series.

i understand what you mean when animes put very unneccesary images, its frustrating and i hate it :\. oh and i check out chugo chara. i love it maybe because it seems like a mahou doremi/supergals kind of thing. anyway its adorable and nicely drawn, you should give it a chance.

I saw the first episode of this show and it wasn’t all bad at all.
I will give it a try to watch.

By the way, the main protagonist of the show is of the name of Kouichi Sanada, who is the same seiyuu who voiced Saito (ZnT) and Yuuji (Shana): Satoshi Hino.

  17. Ren90270 UNITED STATESon 07 Oct 2007 at 6:57 pm

Oh! I forgot to put in that the show I was talking about was Kimi Kiss.

  18. flou UNITED STATESon 07 Oct 2007 at 6:58 pm

    @Hinano

Ignore the Satelite thing. The animation budget for Shugo Chara is 5000x better (seriously) than the entire budget for Kamichama Karin meaning another company like Pony Canyon is financing the show for the most part. It might be good to at least watch the first episode to satisfy our consciences :P (Yes, I know I’m being really selfish ^_^;;;)

Jeez, bashing the anime for it’s first episode is unethical, think. So if your point is true then Melancholy Haruhi- is a trash? it’s first ep was nutcase.

Then again otaku like me won’t listen to anime-senile criticism, and watch what we want.

Come on guys, there’s a lot better blogger out there.

Rule #1: If a show is proclaimed “It is teh win” by the ignorant masses, it means it better deliver a something extra-extra-extra special, otherwise it gets flushed down the toilet.

Prime example #1: Lucky Aids. Just being made by some supposed teh win studio isn’t enough. Insert comment about said studio doing cow dung and everyone will still watch it here.

BTW, how do you quote replies, I seemed to have remembered doing it somehow but then forgot.
