Lovely Complex - 24 (Finale)

Published by Hinano at 11:53 pm under Lovely Complex

So in the end, the final episod I watched with spanish fansubs lol. That’s the one thing I’ll never forget about this show: I’ve watched it with fansubs in like 3 different languages more than I’ve gotten a chance to watch the raws. How sad ^^;. I hope nothing in the fall season ends up like this, it really makes it difficult to get good screencaps. Anyway not the most conclusive ending but I did see the final volume of LoveCom at Kinokuniya today (I think it was 17) so anyone who’s read all of the manga feel free to throw me some insight on what we missed and what the ending was like.

So basically as I expected Ootani stays at Risa’s house but nothing really happens. The next day it snows and all train service is down…but yet the exam is not cancelled. Lol wtf? Be rain or snow our exams will never stop! -From Japan. If this was America there’d either be people cleaning up the roads so the trains COULD run, or they’d reschedule the exam for bad weather. But not in Japan, you must ride your bike to get to the exam…in the snow! So yea Risa basically takes Ootani there. Afterwards he offers to go with her on a date since he’s been so busy and instead they run into Mimi.

Mimi as usual jumps on Ootani but Risa gets a chance to watch Mimi do a photoshoot. She is inspired and they eventually drag her into it too. Afterwards Risa tells Ootani that she wants to become a stylist and he tells her that she can definitely do it if she puts her mind to it. (Wow that rhymes.) At one point she hears from Haruka that Ootani was seen slumped down on a bench. She thinks he failed the exam and rushes to find him only to find out he was only sleeping and he passed the exam. She’s happy for him and then they kiss on the bridge.

At the end really is just the graduation where they argue over who will read the speech first and end up ripping it. Instead Risa adlibs her own speech and even though she cries, at the end she tells all of the students to do a Banzai! As usual we have the “I’m glad to have met you” lines from Risa & Ootani and the credits roll with scenes from the show. After the credits they leave with their diplomas going “bye bye see you again!” Well I don’t think that’s the best ending I mean what about after he goes to college and stuff? Is that up to our imagination? Risa says “We’ll always be together” umm yea whatever =_=.

Final thoughts: Well it was an alright series. It actually followed the manga story pretty well (unlike some crap this season *coughKamichama*) and despite being TOEI it was actually done rather well. Maybe they’re better with these kind of shoes rather than…something like Kanon. (Then again I rather enjoyed Sailormoon back in the day :D)

Yeah, I was surprised to see that the Spanish subs came out before the English subs, that’s definitely a first =)

Toei’s version of kanon was a lot better than Kyoto’s version. Everything reeked of haruhi. Maybe I am the only one who thinks this.

We dun seem to be in sync with our love love doki doki, Hinano. I thought this series was very good. Also most of the episodes had a good laugh or two in it. I looked forward to downloading it every saturday night.

It may be out of the question but I would like to see some OVAs to give the show a little more closure. Prolly never gonna happen though.

This last episode seemed to have a lot more weird faces and expressions in it than normal. Was it just me?

the manga did stretch a distance from the show… the show ending quite early.. i dun understand anime directors u know?? they follow the manga storyline than all of the sudden they decided to end it in their own way… which is very irritating for me(again) anyways i dun wan spoils our readers fun soo all i can say is… read the manga.. it’s far better ending than the show… =.=:

That’s how the manga ended though basically. From what I can tell, since I haven’t watched the episode. They cut out some parts about Risa’s family and some other things of course. I thought I saw some screenshots of her grandpa? I’m not sure, but that was a whole arc in the manga. Maity also had some storyline with his fiancee and that had some good Risa/Otani stuff that was cut sadly. They condensed everything after episode 18, but they basically did tell the whole story. So, reading the manga won’t get you any insight into their college life or future. There is a few chapters of manga that is a prequel and a little bit of a sequel I hear though.

There is now nothing to watch! Yay! Actually… only shana which means time to catch up on Touka Gettan!

@Danny - actually you are not the only one that thinks the Toei one is better. Then again… it’s KANON. After working on the Toei version… the end conclusion was….

    AYU

    MUST

    DIE!!!

You cannot begin to understand how irritating is it to listen to that a million times. -_-

And anyone who remakes Kanoon therefore must end up in the same state.

Uguu ;^; *is cosplaying Ayu at Manga Next*

The problem with TOEI’s cannon was the Jay Leno chins everyone had

I think I woulda enjoyed this show more had it not been such a freakin pain in the ass to obtain (and obtain without some foreign subtitles lol)

    Also I think Ootani is a freaking idiot and it’s annoying how it took them so many episodes before he was finally like “I LUV U RISA!11!” ^^;

P.S. Nothing reeks of Haruhi like Sucky Star =P

Miraculously… I have somehow kept Toei Kanon raws for no reason at all. Also I happen to have some -secret material that cannot be revealed- relating to it.

    You should really cosplay as…

    Karin in wedding dress.
    JP as Kirio in Tuxedo.

    See? Very simple to do.

As for the reeking… I think I posted something in JP’s blog on the lines of “If Kyoani animated cow dung, people will still say IT IS TEH WIN!”

  12. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 01 Oct 2007 at 11:13 am

JP’s not cosplaying this time around. I still wanna do zero no tsukaima for the NY Anime Fest :D

    @padfoot135

Time restrain since they cannot just keep producing episodes until its done, they have to deal with fact they have exactly x amount of time to deal with the story and there is the fact what can take 2 chapters in a manga can take 4 episodes and the reverse is true.

And there is the fact most manga endings are TERRIBLE, especially in Shoujo.

Oh and Kanon sucks as does KyoAni and Sucky Star (I do not want to feel left out).

I know Hinano does not like Seto no Hanayome because they scream a lot but it also just ended and I enjoyed it … even had a good ending that surprised me since GONZO was involved (along with AIC)

  14. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 01 Oct 2007 at 4:21 pm

Isn’t Gonzo known for like screwing up stories and shitty endings too? (Gatekeepers 21/ Chrno Crusade anybody?)

I liked Kanon, not because it was done by KyoAni but because I like Kanon. I liked the stupid TOEI version, but the KyoAni version was an improvement on it (even though I wasn’t too happy with KyoAni’s rendition of the ending.)

  15. DarkronNo Gravatar PORTUGALon 01 Oct 2007 at 4:47 pm

Yes and more then … also its a ongoing manga that is kinda a “Alert” sign flashing even when its a decent studio.

I think they did pretty well, especially when he puts the ring in her finger … no kiss (since his lips belong to Masa-san).

  16. DannyNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 01 Oct 2007 at 7:00 pm

    Kazune,
Haha yeah, when I first heard the news about a remake of kanon I was like: “Who would give the effort to remake such a forgettable series?”

Oh and Hinano, you should go as Dokuro-chan. Just make a halo out of tinfoil and a clothes hanger plus carry around a black bat. A white blouse, red jacket, and skirt… good to go. Also consider going as her in her bath towel though.. I think i remember you having that figurine. I am sure you have an extra bath towel. Cost: $0.00

  17. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 01 Oct 2007 at 7:06 pm

:P Besides being illegal, going as Dokuro chan is more expensive for me than going as Louise…cause for Louise I have everything but the cape which can easily be obtained now that Halloween is coming up and a pink wig.

  18. adeNo Gravatar MALAYSIAon 04 Oct 2007 at 11:20 am

i didn’t expect much of this anime, but it got me hooked after the first few episodes. although everything’s predictable but it’s still amusing ^o^ will there be a season 2?

  19. TotaliNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 04 Dec 2007 at 5:35 pm

Sweet I just finished marathoning this and I loved every second of it! Girly romance anime is what i live for!!! \o/ The best part is that everyone speaks kansai.
