Come join me, for a game of golf!

Published by Hinano at 10:05 pm under Games

Well since my ROII adventures ended I’ve looked into greener pastures for other MMOs. Actually a friend of mine from RO2 recommended that I try Pangya also known as Albatross 18. At first I was like…wtf? A golf MMO? LAWL. Ok well it really IS a golf mmo but it’s pretty good for the casual player and you don’t really have to worry about leveling fast or getting ahead of those kids who play 24/7….all you really need to succeed is your wallet!

Frankly the biggest turnoff in this game for me, is the majority of the items you have to physically buy. Some items you can get by using the ingame currency you earn by playing/winning golf matches…but most of the stuff you gotta spend $10-$100 if you want to get something worthwhile (or you want to be a character other than a loli or a shota.) A season 3 is coming out soon (we’re currently on season 2) which is supposed to have new items and characters, but I have no doubt in my mind most of it will again be crap you have to BUY yourself.

In any case, if you guys play, me and JP could use some match buddies (most of the time we play 1 on 1 matches.) Our nicknames are hinan0 and jpmeyer respectively and we’re usually on the earth server. Stop by, say hello and try for a hole in 1!

Also it seems if I post this season 3 teaser I get entered to win a box of crap. I think I could use a box of free crap. :’D

I played this for a couple of months after I quit Shot Online and it got pretty boring after a while. There is a lot of grind in this game. Hitting a pangya does nothing and those special shots are useless in most situations. If you want to make a lot of cash, just play the ice level for the first six holes and make your golf ball ping pong all over the place. What hinano said is true, if you want anything at all decent in this game you have to pay real life money.

You don’t HAVE to spend real money for things - but if you don’t, expect to grind for the Pangs you need for the really good items; which tend to be restricted to the higher ‘levels’ anyways (Junior and Senior). The Pangya is mostly good for special shots (Cobra, Tomahawk, powerspin), except for the Super Pangya which gives you double the money from the shot.

It’s a nice casual game which rewards you for logging in daily, but it’s not going to be extremely addicting… thankfully.

I actually played this game quite a lot a few months back. It’s a pretty good way to waste some time and can be quite addictive. While having those paid items are great, you don’t really need it. The items you can get with in-game currency is enough for the casual players IMO.

Pangya is quite a fun golf game but I do agree that like most MMOs it’s a pretty horrible grind. I prefer it over a lot of other golf games though because it is very fantasy-based and challenging.

And no, it’s not really that much for the casual player. There’s a whole world of people out there who can pretty much nail hole in ones and albatrosses every other shot. Still, it can be fun for casual players if you play it with other ones though. ^^

There’s a Wii game though for Pangya that I find a lot more enjoyable; everything’s unlockable (makes sense), there’s a lot of content and the real-life swing mechanic is pretty nifty. And the computers only hack slightly less than the godly players. XD

    Now, where’s my endorsement check?

LOL I’m tempted to spend $10 and buy Arin and her school girl set TT_TT
But yea this isn’t that addictive but I dunno after a while me & JP get bored of it and then we stop..and come back if we wanna kill some time.

lol, visiting your site from japan /o/

i`ve just, btw, bought some cp for the jp server

the bad thing is, so far i can read only 15 kanjis or so ehauheua

i do also have another acc at alba18 but i cant buy cookies from here (no credit card =( )

rly, its pretty addictive, you CAN play with low control, plus some stress included. but spending some money on a club set at least is quite worth

note: last year i did the same i think, moved from bRO server and went for some golf.

Oh Noes! Another crack addiction coming up! >_>

It does add a dimension to golf though… I mean bottomless bunkers! Fire hazards! Now let’s see Tiger do that.

It’s not an addiction I’m afraid lol.
More like “ok lets see we’ve cleaned and cooked dinner and went out today…hmm wanna play some golf?” :P

I go golfing in the real world and spend enough on that I dunno if I want to spend money on a new outfit in a game lol

I’ve been playing the game on and off for about two years now, and the fun for me comes in challenging myself to see if I can continue lowering my scores, learning how to “read” the course, etc. I don’t grind on it (don’t have the time), but if you see “TheBigN” as one of the players on the user list, feel free to let me know. :P

  13. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 01 Oct 2007 at 9:41 am

    lmao
Star Creator> is your nickname also “starcreator” on there? Me and JP usually play nightly as well - although now that the new animes are airing it might be a couple days before we come back =p

Yeah, I use the same name there. Already threw you a buddy request =p

By the way, Season 3 showed up - which makes it more like an MMORPG than ever; there are now specialized Chat Rooms you can hang around in and run around with your character in, and you can even sell items in P-Squares.
