Well looks like Sugar Sugar Rune has finally come to an end, in both anime and now manga form. I figured since it’s the last one I’d get the special edition which included a little booklet that contained a short story about Hiroshi (the dog) taking on multiple forms, color illustrations and a character profiles page. Thanks to this page I managed to finally learn how the hell their names are written in English…especially “Uu”…which is actually HOUX. LOL I feel like I’ve made this mistake with another show before…but anyway filled with shoujo goodness here’s the SSRune finale.

So Chocolat finally met up with her dad. Even though Poivre told her not to listen to hill bullshit she does anyway…and believes that he has truly cared for her and was lonely in this frozen fortress all this time. Because of this she cries him a river which magically sets him free and naturally when all bad guys are set free - they do bad things such as destroy rival kingdoms, kill people, the usual.

So anyway after Chocolat & Vanilla manage to escape, Chocolat uses her magic Filtering thing and revives both Poivre and Rubi as well as Pierre. Naturally they have an emotional reunion, which I couldn’t take seriously because Pierre was wearing one of Chocolat’s night gowns (and only later realized it lol.)

So the battle continues and Robin goes to try to save Chocolat who’s been attempting to stop her mad father but failing to do so because of all the evil energy. Unfortunately despite Anble’s attempts to help, Robin tries to do all on his own…and dies.

So then like in the kingdom where Queen candy & everyone else is, turns out there were 2 spies working of Ogre there. So all the good guys got thrown into jail until some random person who I don’t even remember came and used magic to get them all out. At this time Queen Candy sacrificed herself and borrowed everyone else’s power to give it to Chocolat…who then with Pierre defeated her father. Before her father died though, it looks like Chocolat’s mom was comforting him.

So 30 years later…Vanilla finally agrees to become Queen (After refusing all this time.) She’s totally like raburabu with Houx now too much to Saule(lol I thought it was Sole)’s jealousy. During her ceremony she spots Chocolate & Pierre in the crowd and runs crying to them. She says Chocolate should be queen for saving everyone but Chocolate says it’s Vanilla who helped rebuild the kingdom and therefore deserves the title. Chocolat explains the reason she didn’t come back sooner is that both she & Pierre lost their memories and couldn’t talk for a year. Eventually they remembered everything just in time. (This is horrible plot lineage.)

So both Pierre & Chocolat decide to go back to the human world and Chocolat wants to meet up with all her old friends…but Pierre tells her that in the human world it’s been 30 years already and none of her elementary school friends are gonna be there anymore XD. Chocolat closes the manga saying “Mama, I didn’t become queen but I got something better.” n_n

I admit I’m not a big fan of Moyoko Anno’s art style (I still think it’s fugly sorry ^^;) but the story was cute and packed with shoujo goodness.
