Lovely Complex - 23
Hey apparently next week is the last episode. I guess this feels weird since I’ve read the manga past this point O_O I kinda stopped maybe I should try to pick it up again ^^;. So it looks like a few separate events happen here which I guess is because they’re rushing the manga to fit as much as they can before the show ends. So Ootani does break up with Risa and he says its “folever” (lol) to Nobuko and the others. Risa is upset but cheers him on as he studies and makes him some weird jacket/sweater thing and a headband that says GANBARE OOTANI (i think I didn’t pay attention.) He feels bad and goes to see her at the place she works, but instead runs into the other short kid who he punches in the face lol. The short kid (whose name I forgot) is all like “Yea well now that you’ve broken up I won’t hold back!”
For Christmas, Risa’s workplace has a Karaoke party but in the middle of it, she runs off to see Ootani because she misses him so much that she’s in tears. Coincidentally Ootani feels the same way and they both run into each other on the street. Risa tells him she will wait for him to finish his exam, but he instantly hugs her and says that he can’t be without her because he loves her more than he thought. (Finally you idiot.) Afterwards he tells Risa he doesn’t have a present for her, but she’s happy enough to hear that their breakup has been canceled and he just told her how much he loves her. Wow that’s pretty sad. I heard there’s some truth to reality in this for Japanese women.
Meanwhile at New Year’s, everyone finds out that Suzuki has failed his college entrance exam and broke the promise he made with Chiharu. So there’s a little bit of an arc there where Chiharu gets angry at him when he refuses her offer to allow her to take an exam at a lower status college - but at least it would be the same as Suzuki’s. Suzuki doesn’t want Chiharu to give up her dream to go to that college she got accepted to yatta yatta they eventually make up and Suzuki says he will try harder etc. The episode really ends when Ootani gets home only to be kicked out cause everyone in his house is sick and they don’t want him to get it and fail the exam. If I recall in the manga, he ended up having to stay at Risa’s house.
Upcoming Attractions: I hope he goes to Risa’s house! On the other hand - last episode next week, and looks like it deals mostly with them graduating high school. Don’t expect a very conclusive ending.

What the hell. Lovely Complex is, like, sixteen volumes. D: Ugh. I am going to miss this showwww. Now, all I have is Higurashi and Zero no Tsukaima. Though, ZnT is ending soon. Pah.
ZnT is ending tomorrow actually, Higurashi seem to be “Nice Boat”.
I think this is of volume 9-10 so they done a lot of the manga, it could be worst.
Is Higurashi ever coming back? I heard they took it off the air period X_X
Maybe, I read the same … it was taken off but considering the investment that the studio done I doubt it just going to be just dropped, even if it becomes DVD only.
Wow they kind of shoved a lot of things together and are rushing. I know in the manga they were broken up a little bit longer and there was some missed chances for them to get back together, but it basically ended with the same thing. So if they are graduating, they are skipping ahead and just ending it with the manga ending. Kind of sad they are doing that, since I was hoping they would do 39 episodes and just finish the manga more. It’s kind of annoying they went so slow to start with and then rushed the actual GOOD part of Risa and Otani’s relationship. But we got 17 episodes of them not together, like 2 of them together, a few with Mimi and that drama and then a couple of them broken up. Overall, I think the show has kind of failed in a way since their relationship just doesn’t seem very solid.
Whaa—? I didn’t notice the misspelled word “Folever” when I skimmed the raw lol. Perhaps delibarately done to make Ootani look like an idiot?
i´m sensing some “peach girl” crappy ending

Aww, I wish they wouldn’t rush into the story like that! Anyway, that “folever” was funny! I will miss this show! The only light comedy worth watching for me!
Very sad indeed, if there is truth in that for Japanese women.
I would couldn’t put up with something like that. Not even if he has a nice car.

“Peach girl” does not have a crappy ending.

Yeah i would not think peach girl would be your cup of tea Hinano. It has way too many scenes that would make you yell at the characters and throw stuff at your monitor.
All and all though it followed pretty close to the manga and was a good series. I did not like the ending but I do not like most shoujo manga/anime endings.
It does not compare to LC since that was a serious drama and this is a light hearted comedy/drama.
I have a feeling that “Nice Boat” will become an iconic description for anime related things in the future .. .or between School Days watchers it will.

i heard that the serie was supposed to have 26 episodes, but the shorted because of some problems with the channel…or something like that. and i also heard that the it´ll have a special ending theme!
