Hanazakari no Kimitach E - 11

Published by Hinano at 6:43 pm under Hanazakari no Kimitachi E

I have no idea what the point of the whole guys competition was…other than to show Sano & Nakatsu going at it for Mizuki. Even if Sano was a little more likeable in this episode, it doesn’t redeem the fact that throughout this drama he was a fucking dick. Mizuki asked the nurse guy if Nakatsu knows that she’s a girl and the guy said “don’t worry he won’t rat you out”. Sano manages to make the high jump thanks to Mizuki yelling out a suggestion from his dad…who he also made up with in the episode. Nakatsu also tells Mizuki she doesn’t have to give him an answer right away. She ends up dropping her passport and the leader of the girls school finds it. She reports her findings to the dorm leaders - saying there’s a female at their school. I never read the manga but this all seems like a completely alternate universe. Maybe jdramas are just based on a concept and the directors do whatever the hell they want with it using bits & pieces from the manga to help them. ?_?

Upcoming Attractions: Next week is the last episode - although it doesn’t look like Mizuki technically ends up with anybody.

God I’m so happy she notices. In the manga Nakatsu confesses to her in front of everyone and she doesn’t appear to find it a bit disturbing other than that he’s gay.

Well in this drama that’s certainly the case, but personally I love the changes. This drama shines in comparison to the manga. I haven’t watched enough dramas based off mangas to give a truly accurate statement, but the recent drama that I’ve watched, Liar Game (which I HIGHLY recommend by the way and I think you’ll love) is based off a manga and in general follows the manga very closely. Then again, the manga is perfect, and so the drama just represented it in a live action setting lol

On another hand, I wanted to ask you about your opinion about the recent conflict between Nodame Cantabile Illegal Scans (NCIS) and #lurk, a popular place to download manga. (http://www.mangaupdates.com/news.html?id=267 see NCIS/lurk conflict). Since I myself help scanlate manga I side with NCIS, but I wanted to see the opinion of a veteran in the scanlations and fansubbing community (:

the manga was much better, the dorama just sucks, borrowed some ideas and name from the manga. i’m so disappointed since i liked the manga and was even more disappointed when actors i like are in this lame + suck plot drama

boats> I skimmed through Tiamat’s post…regarding dorama…its something that always seems to come up within the fansub community either between groups or between groups/their leechers. Its unavoidable and very demotivating and I am not going to deny it was a good factor of why I quit this whole shabang in the first place. I don’t know either groups but I know when I released fansubs faster than other groups and ppl bitched about the quality I got pissed because to me the point of a fansub is the TRANSLATION not to have DVD QUALITY since the reason you’re watching fansubs is because you don’t understand Japanese in the first place no? If you knew Japanese why not just buy the damn DVDs for your DVD quality etc? (This doesn’t apply anymore as codecs have changed over the last 4 years anyway) But the point is yes ingrates pissed me off, but on the other hand, if they piss you off why keep going only to scoff at them? Show them that you’re really upset and just quit the damn thing all together. If you have your fans, and you enjoy doing the scanning, keep at it, and ignore the imbicils. If it comes down to you doing it for the sake of e-pen0rs/popularity/competition it’s time to throw in the towl. When a noncompetitive hobby turns int some sort of relay race, the fun is dead and the hobby becomes an annoying and miserable chore.

I hope this answered your question XD

I perhaps should not say this but …

I agree with Hinano … its a hobby and not a job.

I understand the kick there is in stroking e-penis but if you are doing for it then you are not doing it for the leechers (AKA people who do not understand Japanese and rely in subs) and the whole “doing it for the masses” is really “doing it for myself”, I do not understand why you side with NCIS since this is not the same situation as NarutoFan or a site that asks for a free, #Lurk is simply a huge IRC database and Mangatraders is by user uploading so why is someone pissed about others taking the distribution burden from their group? its not a credit thing since the files contain the credits page and they not really taking credit for it, is really homepage hits and download numbers from your servers so important?

    Then again I am a leecher …

    Sorry about the derail Hinano.

I just know from past experience people from #lurk are on the same brain level as those of 4chan…so whenever I went in there it was literally to LURK while I leeched raw manga scans. I mean thanks to them I was able to read all of BLack Cat and most of my Naruto volumes!

Although I’m confused on Darkron’s response since it seems to cover a completely different issue then from I understand. I thought the issue was about NCIS complaining that people didn’t give them respect? It’s also about people in #lurk complaning that their raws are being scanlated ?_?

    Oh the dorama.

  6. boatswain UNITED STATESon 13 Sep 2007 at 12:16 am

lol hinano its a kinda a mixture of both problems. NCIS doesn’t want their work to be redistributed by #lurk, and when it was NCIS wanted a 7 day waiting list thing but #lurk didn’t really comply and it kinda exploded into a drama.

@Darkron: I think the most basic thing that leechers should do is to respect the scanlators/fansubbers/whatevers wishes. And at any rate if you know how to download from lurk you can download from NCIS. And about the distribution burden, there are several reasons why we don’t want scans to be widely distributed openly. For example, if you know about Glass Mask, the scanlators have been sent a cease and desist letter before so all the Glass Mask scanlations are entirely underground and cannot be redistributed or else the scanlation group will close down. Likewise, the group I edit for, a Skip Beat scans group is also entirely underground (except a recent leak had all our scans distributed everywhere so you can find them at mangatraders now.. T__T) for similar reasons.
But back to the point. Since we leechers are benefiting off the scanlator’s time, effort, and money, don’t you think the least we can do is to respect their wishes?

(haha sorry for turning your simple post on hana kimi into a discussion about scanlators rights vs leechers rights)

Nope, its about the 7 days rule and the linking to us rule.

NCIS have a rule you cannot host their releases for 7 days after they release it and when you host their files you have to label then a they are from NCIS group and link to NCIS website.

Huuuh. Well, after watching the episode 12 preview, everyone seems pretty happy– so I guess you may be right: she doesn’t technically end with anyone. But then if she doesn’t, then what will the 2 hour special be about? It can’t just be about like, everyone finding out, and they’ll all just be asking her questions, and that would be kinda boring. Buuu~

(I hope the side plot is good. *__*)

Well, just as long Nakatsu’s happy. It was funny with the nose-picking-sneezing challenge. :o

    One more thing.
“Even if Sano was a little more likeable in this episode, it doesn’t redeem the fact that throughout this drama he was a fucking dick.”
AGREE! He was better to watch, but then thinking of what happened in earlier episodes… yeah.

    Nakatsu ftw.

I love the manga, it’s one of my faves and I loathe this drama with a passion which is a shame as I normally love all the actors involved. They’ve made Sano into a total tool and taken away the whole greatness of his and Mizuki’s relationship, and what’s with the stupid girls schoool? Ugh!!! Didn’t particularly like the Taiwanese version which is so weird as until this I’ve pretty much loved all the other manga adaptations I’ve seen like, Mars, Hana Yori Dango, Nodame Cantabile, Devil Beside You, Kimi Wa Petto, Gokusen, GTO, etc….

The drama being really totally different with the manga has been a trend. I remember Itazura na Kiss. The whole thing was so rushed when looking from the vantage point of the manga but it was OK when considered as something separate and different.

I would have liked it though if they kept the Mizuki X Shin suggestion part. Well it was way too sudden even in the manga but having that plot event would really testify that this is indeed something coming from a shoujo manga. Hehehhe… it was kinda reminiscent of hana yori dango manga. During the whole story of that thing, its like all of them (F4) had some sort of romantic liking towards tsukushi except for the tea drinking nikishido guy.

I like this drama just for the Nakatsu self dialog scenes with the music and him making up reasons. I think he’s the only character that we can hear his thoughts.

    OMG ==____==
though i didn’t read all the manga, but it seems like some parts are surely missing like the parts where Mizuki and Sano sleep on the same bed ;P
and if this is the end it’s tooooooooooo short, but well we allways can hope for 2nd season like with Hana Yori Dango

  13. Gloria UNITED STATESon 15 Sep 2007 at 11:24 am

I don’t see how they can do a whole second season with Mizuki being discovered. But I do think the drama did Sano an injustice. In the photo shoot onward they did portray Sano as he was in the manga (always looking out for her & being extremely close to her). It made it more tense when the sudden division of them occured (because his father is a touchy subject).

But in the drama they made their closeness blossom too late and Nakatsu seems the better candidate. While in the manga he was like a puppy that kept humping Mizuki’s leg for attention & wouldn’t give up (even when the timing was ultra bad).

Totally agree that the good actors are wasted in this lousy script.
Wats with the lame competitions in every episode - they should have spent more time developing the characters and relationships. Just watching to see if they can redeem this mess at the end…
