Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai - 10
It’s becoming sorta
hard for me to digest this show because the pace is SO slow compared to season 1. Season 1 left me on the edge every week going “I wonder why ____” or trying to figure out a mystery. Now I’m sitting here going, I wonder why they won’t take the whole mob and the president guy and arrest the bastard. Like calling his phone is gonna help. By the time they reach him he’ll beat up Satoko another 20 times. And Satoko…and her brother complex. This is what you get for having a burazakon little girl. If you just stayed with Rika like a good little loli, you wouldn’t be getting abused by a drunken old sex offender. Knowing the fact that everyone’s gonna die again isn’t making this arc go by any faster.

eww @@;
Yes! It’s me! The one who tags on your DA profile! ^^
The first season is much faster and bloodier. Season 2 is going so friggin slow I think I’d rather jump down a building. But for some reason, I still watch this season. o o; You’re right, Satoko should just stay with Rika and just learn the fact that her Nii-nii is DEAD and IS NEVER COMING BACK.
And the cops should just arrest that crappy old man and not just watch him. That’s the most stupid thing I’ve ever heard. > >;

In a sense, I think Satoko has a really messed up guilt complex, and to some degree blames herself for her brother leaving, and even perhaps for her parents dying. (It’s one of those things people actually do, even if it doesn’t make sense) My speculation is that she willingly puts herself through her uncle’s torture because she thinks she deserves it, and it is her way of proving herself worthy of her brother’s love, because she feels as though her weakness previously drove him away. (And this is just mere speculation, but perhaps in some sense she feels that if she had been stronger she somehow could have saved her parents, even if that belief is totally illogical, deep down people often do believe things like this)
I believe, actually, in the other arc where Keiichi (sp?) killed her uncle yet he still seemed to exist, it may be possible that Satoko was so filled with the desire to suffer that she continued to punish herself. In fact, in this arc you could infer that theory by the fact that they say that she has a mental disorder and she sees the principal as though he is her uncle. It is quite possible that she continued to live as though her uncle had not been killed, in a semi-dillusional state.
I agree about the slowness of this arc, for sure. I hope things pick up in episode 10…
As far as them all dying, though they seem to be figuring out/becoming aware of the nature of their previous lives, they still don’t seem to be putting all the pieces together. The vital thing that they seem to be missing out on is the fact that the lady who always burns to death is always dead at the time of the festival, yet she’s still there. Also, and there is the time where everyone sees Keiichi even though he’s not at the festival. What is to account for that? (Someone once alluded to a doppleganger, and other inferences have been made towards zombies/the living dead…also consider the episode where Shion, who we are led to believe to be Mion at the time comes back to murder Keeichi at the end.) It seems as though in the current arc they’re so focused on saving Satoko that they’ve lost sight of some of the other things that have been going on that just don’t quite add up. It seems pitiful, also, that Rika hasn’t figured out more in her nearly infinite amount of time. I mean, in some sense she’s still a kid, even if she’s got the maturity of someone much older, it has to cloud your judgement to know that you’re going to be brutally murdered any time now.
Couple of other thoughts:
Satoko seems to be the only one so far who hasn’t really clued in to her past lives in a significant way. (Say, remembering the last arc that just happened, for instance) Second, this is the first arc (I can think of?) where Rika actually snaps, if even only for a short period of time. I’m kind of wondering if she’ll become really depressed and give up and just decide to “end it by her own hands”. That would be an interesting twist.
K1の活躍の場面が原作(ゲーム)より少なかったので怒っていたのだと思う。
みんなk1が好きだから。
ペース配分はこれで良いと思う。他の人は知らんけど(w
Wow lol nice post Crono. I do agree to some sense that maybe Satoko feels she deserves punishment but its just weird to me since in the previous arc this didn’t happen and she didn’t feel this way.
I think it’s just how there’s sort of an infinite amount of possibilities. I think maybe the trigger for her uncle moving back into town might actually be when his girlfriend is murdered? It’s possible, since it seems that Satoko’s uncle, who is the scammer-lady’s boyfriend moves back into town only after she’s been killed this time around, so maybe that’s why it happens. It’s kind of hard to say on that one.
PS If you’ve never seen the movie “Groundhog Day” you should. It’s basically like this, but a lot more light-hearted. Still, it’s what I said after I first watched the 5th episode…I watch the opening and I’m like…Groundhog day???? You just have to see it. XD
seriously satoko started to annoy me. I know she had been through a hard time but because her way of not moving forward, she started to bring up troubles for others. I think her weekness might lead to others’ death in this “cycle”
BTW, nice blog with intriguing comment
Yes I have seen Groundhog Day (i thoguht I mentioned it on one of my posts in season 1 XD)

Has anyone heard that? They’re cancelling screenings for this show because of a certain incident in Japan. Oh well. ;-;
