Manga Review: Ikari Shinji Ikusei (OX) Keikaku Vol. 3
Seriously the theme song for this manga should be “KOZUKURI SHIMASHO! HA!” In case you’ve been under a rock as far as Eva’s concerned, a 2nd “OC” manga has been released for Evangelion dealing with everyone in mostly the school setting. I got the first 2 volumes over a year ago and bought the 3rd on since I happened to run on it. If the characters weren’t out of character already this volume totally flipped their personalities upside down. In fact I forgot if I was reading an Eva manga or Love Hina with Evangelion characters. I mean face in crotch is an Akamatsu Ken trademark that should just NO LONGER BE DUPLICATED.
The book also includs chapter covers of random “real world” versions of Rei and Asuka. While I enjoy things like that for some reason when all of it is squished into one thing especially after reading the “serious” eva manga, it just feels so…wrong.
First we get a cute scene between when Asuka & Shinji were kids. Oh yea in case you didn’t know Asuka & Shinji are childhood friends. It shows how Shinji’s good at cooking and would always come over Asuka’s house when their parents were at work, and would cook her hamburger. It’s obvious by now Asuka likes him but it seems Shinji hasn’t exactly “grown up” in that department. (The manga title is “The Shinji Ikari Raising Project” har har.)
So speaking of out of character, the most OC person in this whole manga has to be Gendo. His OCness even beats Rei’s OCness (I’d say she comes in 2nd.) Not only is he a “caring father” but instead of having hopes & dreams to destroy the world, he has hopes and dreams that Shinji will become a lab researcher just like himself and Yui (who’s alive at this time.) He goes to his class for a student/teacher conference but because he comes too early, he sits in class and tries to get Shinji to get all the answers right ^^;; Oh yea Misato is the teacher but her personality seems to be in tact.
So next come the parts I hate the most about this volume: Rei totally hitting on Shinji. For some reason she just grew a huge ballsack, and is ready to have his babies. I haven’t read Vol 2 in a while but it feels like such a random huge jump. No guys this isn’t your “doll” like Rei. This isn’t the char Nagato Yuki was based off. This is more like that quiet inchou character who one day gets the guts and totally wants to do the protagonist. So the volume is filled with various “Rei moe building” moments which made me roll my eyes 360 degrees to the back of my head multiple times.
GOD REI I HATE YOU. In case you haven’t realized by now, I’m an Asuka x Shinji fangirl and OTP breakers are serious business. 
There we go with the head-in-crotch again :/. Well I hope Asuka will do something cause the page I didn’t scan has another Rei x Shinji makeout pic. Yuck! >:[

Well I am going to excuse Gendo, I know in NGE he was “a bastard” but he really loved Yui (his whole objective was to reunite with Yui) so without the 2nd impact and with Yui around it might changed (if I recall it was even Yui that got him into SEELE).
Rei being “out-of-character” … well without the whole 2nd impact and SELEE deal she is a clean sheet.
Oh and there is a game with that name that plays like “Princess Maker” but I guess this manga is based on Ep. 26 “school life” instead of that game.
It’s always difficult to root for a couple that doesn’t exist, or get much attention.
If they ever put K1 with Urd or Skuld instead of BellDD, I would go postal.
Or if Sakura doesn’t end up with either Ino or Rock Lee, totally postal.
The question is, does rutting Rei have a ton of clones as well? What would happen if they were unleashed at once?
Gendo is too crazy in this doujinshi. And yet, I totally buy it.
Aw come on Sabrina, Sasuke has a more chance of ending up with Naruto, than Sakura with Ino xDDDDD
In this manga Rei appears to only be…one.
