Lovely Complex - 16
So after Risa is shocked, she goes into “stupid doll mode” and tells Ootani she’ll see him tomorrow. Unfortunately hear tears break the facade and she runs off screaming “goodbye”. Maity runs after her and gives her a comforting hug. In the meantime, Nobu & the rest are busy scowling at Ootani for saying such things. He just retorts that the annoying old man teacher pissed him off which is why he said those things. Risa tells herself she knows that he doesn’t like her, but hearing it again only hurts more.
Risa tells Maity her story about how she was dumped twice. Maity says he will “work his magic” to make Risa happy, which is basically him making Ootani jealous enough to realize his feelings. At one point during a basketball match Ootani hurts his foot. Risa offers to give him a ride home on a bike and he refuses. However when Maity comes by offering a ride for Risa in his car, Ootani quickly changes his mind and says “Risa has an important mission to take him home and that she likes him and not Maity.” Maity of course is happy his plan worked. Everyone also finds out that Maity is Haruka’s cousin.
The next day Nobu & the gang are asking Risa about the “bold” things Ootani said and did the other day. Risa says she still has no idea what he’s thinking but Nobu says that Ootani is probably jealous of Maity. When they go home that day, Risa offers Ootani a ride again and after bickering he eventually agrees…but only if he pedals and she sits in the back. While riding, Risa tells him she will stop liking him for sure because she enjoys just being and laughing with him and not having this weird atmosphere. Ootani is quiet but eventually smiles and the two of them laugh as they ride home…being followed by an angry policeman for double riding a bike.

Rick, totally agree.
And only Lovely Complex manages to make even the sad moments funny. Oh my heck… that part with the policeman nearly killed me I was laughing so hard.
I seriously wasn’t expecting Risa to say that, though. I wonder if they’ll be introducing the whole Mimi and mystery-I-can’t-remember-his-name-boy arc, because that should be interesting.
I’m a little upset with this episode, actually. They changed it quite a bit and even sqeezed together three whole chapters. After this, I think it’s safe to say that they indeed plan to put the next 8 volumes (or so,) into 13 episodes. Twenty-six total.
Not only that, but they totally decided (for whatever reason,) to edit out Ootani’s response to Risa’s anouncement. Jeez.
LoveCom is definitely more lighthearted than Kare Kano…gainax lieks to make everything emo
Well sort off … I mean, I never found the Kare Kano manga that much of a comedy to start with as Dawn says LoveCom can be funny when its supposed to have those “sad moments”.
Different styles I guess …

OH yea they did didn’t they…I was wondering when he’d be saying that
OH MY HECK. I completely spaced that line. Hopefully he’ll confront Risa in the next episode when she’s trying not to like him and tell her not to stop. Because that’s probably the best line in the series.
Ah, they need to add that line. I was waiting for that line too. Oh well, I’m sure that the anime producers are going to put it somewhere else, since it was pretty much an important line(to me, imo).
