Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai - 03
So while most of this week focused on goofy antics of our favorite gang, they did show a few flashbacks that I guess I don’t recall seeing in season 1. The episode is mainly about Rika telling herself that she has to face her destiny to get killed. Unfortunately she starts to get worse at hiding her anguish and Satoko starts to catch on. Meanwhile in town the locals still ignore Satoko’s existence and Rika has to be there to “protect” her.
This week we had the baseball match. Rika lied to Keiichi to get him off helping set up for the festival and win the match. When he arrived (with a golf club of all things) there was this huge thing between him and the pitcher. He kept babbling about how the pitcher has a dark secret because he likes to eat girly sweets and he does so because he wants to be with girls because he’s a dirty pervert. Then Keiichi goes on to say that being a pervert is ok and all men are perverts and gives him 2 tickets to the cafe that Shion worked at in season 1.
One night Satoko hears Rika talking to someone (who is actually Hanyuu.) Ok hold on a sec. Does anyone feel that Hanyuu suddenly sounds a lot like Tsukimiya Ayu? I mean no offense to Hocchan but going with the whole Higurashi mood I think this is a miscast. Because now the only thing I can think of is her going “Rikaaa, you must change your destiny~uguu!” =_=;; This is like throwing me into a downward spiral for this show because it just STICKS OUT SO BAD. Anyway Rika tells Satoko she’ll get killed and the next morning denies saying Satoko had a bad dream. The following night Rika just tells Satoko that there’s nothing she can do about it.

Yea, hearing Hocchan’s voice in Higurashi was so weird. It just seems so out of place. Well now instead of “uguu~” it’s “Auauauaua~”. I think one of the reasons it stuck out so much was because Rika was using her serious voice, while Hanyuu sounded like she was stealing taiyaki. Maybe it’ll just take some getting used to. ;P
Yea I can totally imagine her eating Taiyaki now that I think about it. THis is awful!! T_T
I wonder how out of place it sounded in the game.
On the other hand, this is delicious irony over the whole overblown Oyashiro-sama thing.
Third episode into this arc and no hint of killing yet. This original arc is really lagging.
The whole point of this arc was to show flashbacks or whatever they skipped in season 1 I think…so yea I dunno how much if any killing, we’re going to see.
I’m totally fascinated by this and have no clue what’s going on. I’m going to read you’re synopsis of the first season.
Hrm. I’m still going for Rika going crazy this arc, in a “Well, this is all gonna rewind anyway, so let me see how messed up I can be” type of way.
