Nanatsuiro★Drops - 01

Published by Hinano at 7:55 pm under Nanatsuiro Drops

So with this anime being the first one of the summer season I feel like a butt because after 2 months I am still playing the game and I am still not even through one of the girls’ stories. However now that the anime aired I’m more than pumped to finish the damn thing and besides I’m already through 1/3 of the H-Scenes so I’m close to the end. I figured I’d do my posts for this show the same way I did my Kanon posts back in the fall because I noticed a good amount of differences that non-game players may be interested to know about.

As usual I will have the game image on the left and the anime one on the right. Now I personally feel that the game version of the “fateful meeting” was done better. Considering all the shoujoey crap they put in, that scene just seemed so bland to me. Also unless it’s different in the other girls’ stories or unless I’m just Japanese-retarded, I coulda SWORN the transformation situation went like this: Tsuwabuki finishes his gardening duties, goes back into the building to get a drink. He runs into dog ear boy (Matsuda) who takes a sip and then gives it back to Tsubwaki…who then drinks it. Because of this he turns into a sheep. Also I’d like to make a note that he never joined the gardening club because he was forced to by Kisaragi sensei. He joined it because Kisaragai suggested he do so in order to be closer to Sumomo.

The one thing that makes Nanatsuiro stand out from all the other renai games I’ve played is the chibi scenes. NO they are not just special to the anime - they really do originate from the game. Also in the game a lot of them are actually “somewhat” animated so it makes the game more lively and enjoyable (besides adding another 50 bonus points on the adorable scale.) The difference however is for some reason the chibis in the game are often naked and the style seems to be different than that in the anime - where instead of nudity all the characters instead had huge heads and tiny bodies.

I’m a bit disappointed that they cut out the issue with Yuki-chan’s name. In the game, when Tsuwabuki heard her make his name Yuki-chan he was like “Yuki..chan? wtf? Are you kidding me?” That part actually had me laughing ^^; I realize they were trying to squish like a LOT of stuff into 1 episode but I guess little things like that which I miss. Also I love how they fast forwarded through Kisaragi-sensei’s speech about the otherworld and this world. You lucky bastards didn’t have to sit like 20 minutes listening to him explain it all!! Also I forgot to mention that originally Sumomo left Yuki-chan in the class room and the sensei found him there. Kisaragi sensei in the anime also seemed like he knew WAY too much before hearing the details from Tsuwabuki. For example he didn’t just go “Did you drink something weird?” he was more like “Yea I believe in ‘miraculous things’ which is why I’m believing your story Tsuwabuki-kun.”

The part which really annoys me to no end though is the introduction of Prima Asperaus (sp?) aka Yuuki Nona. I mean at the point of the game where I am now, she’s like okay….but in the beginning I want to slap her and the fact that they changed her seiyuu doesn’t make her any less annoying. Oh speaking of voice changes, while most of the voices are the same, from what I heard (and JP researched for me) the voices were changed for Nadeshiko (Nako), Nona, and Keisuke (the nerdy friend with the swirly glasses.) I’m glad they at least kept Sumomo and Yuki’s voice in tact. Tsuwabuki never really had a voice so he’s not an issue to me. But anyway regarding Nona, I really don’t know why they threw her in so early. I woulda liked at least for her to be out of the picture until episode 3 or 4.

The other thing which makes me feel like they’re watering down the anime is the whole aspect of Yuki being a stuffed animal version of Tsuwabuki - but everything Sumomo does to a stuffed animal is like she’s doing it to him. SO for example when she goes to bed, she takes Yuki and stuffs him into her bed with him like she would sleep with a stuffed animal. This is kind of important and a segue to what happens the next morning. Kinda disappointed that this scene didn’t happen and I’m curious to how they will handle the beginning of next week’s episode. It seems like the important story parts are really flying by which frightens me to think that they might turn this into “lets insert filler episodes of random mahou shoujo crap to rack in money of more little girls!” Hopefully I will be proven wrong because I really do like the adaptation and it definitely didn’t drop in the adorableness level to me.

Upcoming Attractions: Sumomo gets a magical girl outfit from her ex-mahou shoujo mom.

Is this one of those dating simulation game?

I played one once, I thought I was going to be the good girl and just talk and stuff and my character ended up getting sodomized. Not so into these…

Much like books to movies, it’s hard to transition them smoothly to another genre.

Wow this seems like an interesting game.

What the hell. The girl has a magical spoon. I want a magical spoon. Are there magical forks, sporks, butter knives, too?

  7. Hinano UNITED STATESon 03 Jul 2007 at 5:52 pm

UNfortunately spoons is as far as it goes. XD

    nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

The lead character is voiced by….

    Jun.

    It’s a trap!

They are supposed to be teaspoon. The fancy type. All they need now is for the spoons to go: “Standby ready, setup / Yes Sir.”

Yeah, I was a little disppointed with the changes from the game to the anime. I still liked it. Better than most eroge anime first episodes, I thought.

    Needs more H!

  13. [...] Impression: Not sure if there is anything else that needs to be said that hasn’t already been stated. I hope Nako-chan gets more proactive in forming her yuri partnership. While she gets bonus points for having a naginata, she must learn how to use it against loliman217. Sumomo cries too damn much. What the hell? Is this moe for any one or do hardcore loli-cons like tears and the sounds of girls crying? The SD was cute, but taking a look an Hinano’s blog it seems that there is such a thing as SD p0rn… [...]

[...] I hate comparing one anime to another but I couldn’t help thinking “Star Captor Sumomo” after looking at this image . I mean look at the image for God’s sake! Who wouldn’t get the CCS vibe? I mean the outfit, the stuffed animal, the staff. Not to mention that they’re collecting stars instead of cards. The only difference that I saw was that this is based off a pr0no game. The story’s set-up is completely different than CCS though. Basically, this reject guy accidentely turns into a little sheep thanks to some weird guy. In order to turn back into a human, Sumomo has to retreive seven star drops because she is a chosen one. However, there are two obstacles for them that enable me to stop my brain from screaming “CCS!” and give it a chance. The first is that there’s some girl who’s out to stop Sumomo (and not help her secretly like Eriol). The second is that the guy (I forgot his name) can’t ever tell Sumomo his real human identity. This kinda sucks because they go to the same school and Sumomo has a crush on him. This wasn’t a bad first episode actually. Or at least its decent enough for me to not drop it. A lot of it has to do with taste which is probably why I like it. There’s lots of pink, rainbows, sparkles, chibis, and cuteness crammed in here. Not exactly the best choice for most guys. Its entertaining and fun which makes it one of those good light anime to watch after a stressful day or something. While the music went through one ear and came out the other, the animation is surprisingly well done. It’s very clean, consistent, and cutsey. There were quite a few chibi scenes that apparently derive from the game. While it doesn’t make anything humorous (which I think was its original intent), it does make everything cuter. Exactly what this show needs.I like Nanatsurio Drops. Its fun, cute, and enjoyable. That doesn’t mean that everyone else will like it though. I’m pretty going to recommend this to anyone who is a female though if you’re a guy and you wanna try this out go ahead. So that’s all I have to say now. Also, I can now stop thinking of this show as Star Captor Sumomo and appreciate for what this is ^^. [...]

Compared to every other loli show this season, this one is almost awesome.

… but that may just be the lack of competition.
