Proposal Daisakusen - 08

Published by Hinano at 10:05 pm under Proposal Daisakusen

Another great episode this week. I almost thought it was gonna go the bad way but it did a 180 and next week looks really promising. So now that Mikio knows that Ken is from the future, (after much convincing) Mikio says he will help Ken out. He tells him that it’s obvious that Rei likes him and is shocked to hear that in the future she and Tada-sensei get married. While everyone is at that restaurant hangout place they ask Ken if he knows what DKNY brand is and he says “Don’t Knock New York” to which everyone laughs at making him look like an idiot for not knowing it’s Donna Karen.

Mikio then tries to create an opportunity for Rei and Ken to talk. Ken is not ready but Rei says she has something to tell him. She says that she has decided to date Tada-sensei because she was tired of being the scared school girl who couldn’t be honest with her feelings. She says she realized this from when she liked Ken. Ken is upset to hear that he’s past tense and is bummed after that. For New Years when everyone goes to see the sunrise, Ken says he won’t go and ends up staying behind.

While wandering around on his own he sees a bunch of a guys with a bag that says “Don’t Knock New York” and asks them where they got it. He goes to this place where you throw baseballs at numbers and when you knock out all 9 you get a prize. That bag is one of the prizes. Ken eventually spends over $100 on the balls but gets the bag and goes home. (But not before sitting down and crying to realize that he can’t make his past self forget about Rei because he loves her that much.) In the meantime the gang is lonely without Ken on the beach so they surprise him when he gets home. Ken gives Rei the bag saying “you wanted it…” and then is surprised by Tada-sensei (part 3) when he tries to go to the bathroom.

They all go up on the apartment building roof to watch the sunset there instead. Tsuru (or whatever that short kids name is) suggests they take a photo but unlike in the original photo where Rei was holding hands with Tada-sensei, she takes out the bag Ken gave her and puts it on her shoulder. Ken also says to himself that while not much has changed, he feels a lot better in this version than in the original. When he comes back to the future Mikio’s all like “So you came back but nothing changed huh.” The fairy man then appears telling Ken that the next slide is his last chance, because it’s the last photo, the one where Tada proposed to Rei.

Upcoming Attractions
: Ken tells Rei not to marry Tada-sensei and marry him instead!
