LiveJournal Attacks Yaoi Fangirls! (And other closet pervs)
So in case you haven’t heard the latest and the greatest (and in fact I just found this browsing my LJ friends pages), it looks like LiveJournal is banning everyone who has crazy fetishes listed in their profiles or entries or communities. For example, if you have a community for writing yaoi fanfiction or slash or whatever SasukexNaruto thing you can think of, you’ll probably get your account deleted. Hell even if you’re a closet fan with “yaoi” or “shota” in your interests, you can probably say goodbye to your LJ as well! There’s lotsa chaos going on and the root of it is here. They even got a whole Pirates of the Caribbean rebellion theme going on
(Woulda been funnier if they threw Pizza Hut symbols everywhere).

And I woulda told JP to write a post about this but he was taking a shower and I gotta get up early for work. Oh and I always like Greatest Journal more than LJ anyway.

I’m not sure what LJ is hoping to accomplish with this. And where do they draw the line? These fetish-phobes can’t investigate each case, so will they just start getting rid of anyone who connects Sasuke & Naruto in any way at all? Just like YouTube mindlessly removing vids that mention Haruhi…
Actually, they’re not targeting yaoi fangirls, they’re targeting “pedophiles” - that is, fans of loli, moe, etc. Oh yeah, and shota. I don’t know of any journals that went down because it listed yaoi, yuri or stuff like BDSM as interest, but they did delete a community about Nabokov’s ‘Lolita’…
Really professional, LJ, really professional.
I heard they also deleted some rape victim support groups.
I’m trying to get my account deleted (after backing it up). I copypasta’d that epic Shino’s PAACHI parody Naruto fanfic.
Lol. Code Geass. I started watching that show when 23 episodes had already aired. I liked it. Ha. This just shows how GreatestJournal > LiveJournal.
It sucks to see them deleting the journals. Grrr!
For those that missed it, they did post an apology and an explanation: http://news.livejournal.com/99159.html
Too little too late seems to apply though… and those of you still on LJ should join the fandom_counts community if you haven’t already.
Personally, I find yaoi hilarious.
As for LJ, well, not very good for PR, and well, they have been warned and informed about pedophillia…
Haha, I guess LJ sucks after all.
I’m still on LJ but thats cause I really dont update my LJ.
I just use it to read communities and friends entries
This will be on Encyclopedia Dramatica in a few days. I’d bet any amount of money.
I JUST read about this a second ago before coming to your blog. What a coinky-dinky.
