It’s that time again! Summer Season Preview.
I might be running ahead of the game but I checked out links on moonphase and I’m doing another preview post. Once again these are shows that caught my eye based on either I know something about them prior to the anime, or the character designs/artwork looks nice. By no means is this list accurate nor does it mean that if I say something is bad (or its not listed here) that it’s not worth watching. There may be other shows coming out that I didn’t list so if you know of any feel free to comment and post links. I just went by what’s on Moonphase. (Geez I’ve had that site bookmarked for like 5 years now XD) Anyway, on with the show.
Kenko Something Umisho - The dictionary told me this had nude in the title but based on the preview graphic I don’t think this show is about nude swimmers. Actually what really catches my interest is I enjoyed shows about swimming like Waterboys (although that was a drama) so it says this will be a comedy about a swim team….maybe it’ll be worth watching. So I’ll probably check out the first few eps before deciding.
Zero no Tsukaima II - Unless you were under a rock last summer you should know what this show is. It’s the sequel to last year’s tsundere harry potter whatever show which apparently continues where season 1 left off. I haven’t read the novels so its beyond me what’s gonna happen but seeing a milfy lady who sources tell me is Louise’s “oneesan” is gonna only lead to one thing - boobs in the face for Saito. Sigh. Hopefully something good will come out of this.
CODE-E - So this appears to be a story about a girl who just sucks at technology but apparently has a power to transmit electromagnetic waves through cell phones? And then she meets some guy who’s a tech nerd but he likes some other girl. I dunno it looks neat and there’s possibility of a love triangle so I’m game. And hey anything with cell phones is automatically awesome in my book.
School Days - So this is another anime based on eroge. I don’t know anything about this game other than this Japanese guy uploaded all the porno scenes from it on Stage6…and it was so retarded. I mean the 2 girls are on a roof and one’s like “Come on do him!” and the other’s like “but its my first time…” and shes like “ok if you wont then I will” and so she does the guy right in front of the other girl. So the other girl runs off and cries somewhere because she refused to be a slut. Not sure what they’ll do with the anime, but I figured unless it’s something special I’ll probably fall asleep.
Potemayo - This show looks as dumb as a brick but it’s one of those things where curiosity is gonna kill 20 minutes of my life for watching it. It looks like it’s based on a 4koma (wuh oh). It reminds me of that other show…Binchotan? Or whatever the hell that dumb show was about that blue haired chibi that made my eyes bleed the first episode that I watched of it. How fansubbers ever manged to sub that crap is beyond me. I’ll try not to explode this time a la sucky star.
Mushiuta - This gets the award for stupidest title of the summer. I mean come on bug? Stupid titles aside the artwork for this is amazing. I think it’s a novel? rather than a manga. It apparently runs in the same magazine (Sneaker) as the Haruhi Novels did too. Don’t really know the story but I see a girl, and a guy so something good must come out of this. It’ll be either really amazing, or so cliched it becomes terrible. Hopefully it’ll be the first one.
Baccano! - So this is one of those olden shows set in the 1930s. Personally it looks like Full Metal Alchemist meets Tuck Everlasting O.o The story appears to be a bunch of Americans in New York drink some sort of immortal liquid or something. There’s even murder and mafias and all that good stuff that we forgot about in the 30s. This could be another epic failure like Les Miserables or it could be pretty win like Emma (although I kinda gave up on ep 8 of season 1 of that show XD.)
Zombie Loan - Ok so I lied. This is probably the stupidest title of the season. I mean just from hearing the name “zombie loan” makes me feel like I’m going to a bank run by the Adams Family. On the site it says Peach Pit…does that mean they did the character designs or something? It could be good like Busou Renkin or it could be awful like Kaze no Stigma - only time will tell.
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni 2nd series - So in case you were under a rock last spring/summer you will know this is a sequal to last year’s thriller Higuras no Naku Koro Ni. This time though it looks like they have a different animation staff so the character look less anorexic in proportion with their ginormous boobs. The official site says something about an original story and other people have said it would be a complete remake. I’m game with either one. The last thing I wanna see is episode 9 entrails all over again X(.
Doujin Work - I’m unusually pumped for this anime because it appears to be a show about doujinshikas! I saw the short trailer and the feel reminds me of REC and Cosprayers/LoveLove (and that other show that came in between whose title I forgot.) Seems like it’s about a girl that draws doujinshi and then has some random loli cosplay outfits so that people come to her table. Sorta reminds me of Comic Party but maybe it’ll be something fresh.
Nanatsuiro Drops - So I’m playing the game as we speak and hopefully will have a review up before the show airs. The basic story is Tsuwabuki Haru (i think thats his first name) runs into a guy with animal ears from another world. THat guy drinks the can of juice he was drinking from and when Tsuwabuki drinks from it again, he gets a spell put on him which turns him into a stuffed sheep at night. His teacher tells him that in order to take this “curse” off he has to collect 7 pieces of a falling star along with a girl who will help him..and that girl of course is Akihime Sumomo. The game is absolutely adorable so I’m really looking forward to the anime. I just hope they don’t turn it into Star Captor Sumomo.
Kodomo no Jikan - Yeeeah……..This whole manga/anime is wrong on more than 1 level. I mean if it was like UFO princess Warukure where at least she turns into a busty adult once in a while then I’m game…however this just appears to be about a loli who’s hormones are kicking in 4 years too early. X_X Oh well I’m morbidly curious to see it, as I have not read the manga but I don’t expect to stick around unless it’s just pure comedy.
Sayonara Hopeless(Zetsubou) Sensei - Hey isn’t that the name of one of our anime bloggers? XD I saw the manga a Kinokuniya and it said “anime coming this summer!” but I didn’t buy it since I have no idea what it is. Official site isn’t ready yet so I’m not sure what this show is gonna be about. It looks interesting sorta gives me that XXXHolic feeling. Hopefully it’ll be a winner and I won’t drop it after 10 eps.
So the summer season looks pretty good so far. At this point I’m guaranteed to be watching at least 3 shows so that’s always a good thing. Don’t know what the drama season has in store but I typically like to watch an episode before making decisions since you can’t really make drama assumptions based on actors…I’ve found often my fav actors star in shitty dramas.

Damn, I’ve not ever completely gone through the Spring season yet and here you talking about the Summer season already.

Zetsubo Sensei is, apparently, a manga series based entirely around puns. I’m not even going to attempt to explain it - Andrew Cunningham (who, coincidently, raves about the Baccano! novels) wrote a good, spoiler-free review of it. Given he’s a professional translator and still considers it near-impossible to render in English, I can’t see many good fansubs turning up (not that it’ll bother you, but it might still end up being horrific to follow raw…).
Still, it’s being directed by Akiyuki Shinbo (Negima!?, Pani Poni, Soultaker, etc, etc), so it’ll probably at least look nice and have pans randomly falling on peoples heads every three minutes.
In regards to Zombie Loan, didn’t Peach-Pit write the manga it’s based on?
Ha. Of course, I will be watching Higurashi 2 and possibly Zero no Tsukaima 2. ;D W00T. I have no idea about the other series, though. Will you be blogging Higurashi 2 and Zero no Tsukaima 2, by any chance?

Yea, this is definitely a bit early xD. I’m looking forward to the shows every one and their brother are going to be watching: ZnT 2, Higurashi 2, and School Days. Of course, I’ll probably end up picking up some of the other shows that pop up.

School Days isn’t what you think it’s going to be, and it’s going to be very special in the Higurashi/Shuffle sense, if you see where I’m getting at. :/
I’m looking forward to the two sequels and the doujin and swimming ones sound interesting. I miss Comic Party and I’m curious when they do shows about different kinds of sports.

I am looking forward to School Days because it’s seriously “anti generic harem anime”. Well, I’ve heard it is. Like, the main guy is supposedly a real bastard and messes around with the girls intentionally, or summat like that.

Aside from Zero no Tsukaima II, the other shows seem kinda meh for me… I’m not really into loli shows.

Haha, well I’m going to be following without a doubt Higurashi. My favorite series! Even though I hated the anime series last year. Anyways.
Also following Zero no Tsukaima, cause the novels are good. Nanatsuiro Drops, because I’ve been interested in it, and want to play the game too.
School Days cause I’ve played the game and Sekai and Setsuna are awesome and Kotonoha needs to die in every route. School Days could be really good depending on how the director goes with it, and Makoto(lead guy) is not so much intentionally being a bastard and messing with girls, but he is an indecisive insensitive bastard who should also die.
I’ll try out Kodomo no Jikan since it seems to be popular (amongst the lolicons though), but who knows it could be funny. Zombie Loan is a manga by Peach-Pit and I read a bit, but it’s not spectacular, and I’ll probably watch it anyways. I’d rather have some more Rozen Maiden anime that follows the manga more closely though.

Ah, “School Days” … you should not judge a eroge game story by the H images since the 3 bad ending are REALLY bad ending … as in “people die” bad endings.
You can check the wikipedia entry for then, I only seen a .gif of the “Eternally” bad ending, people jumping off a roof to their death is not exactly common you know …

Woah, I saw one of those ‘bad’ endings of School Days on youtube and that was really BAD. I didn’t know that a body held that much blood. It was a pretty depressing little video. I hope the anime does include some of these events just to add some good (or super unrealistic and cheezy) drama. I just hope the show doesn’t end that way.
The OAV of School Days is out an it was pretty boring, I didn’t make it to the end.

I’m sorry but compared to Higurashi that looked like she’s one of those circuis clowns that has water squirting out of his eyes, except this time the water’s red lol ^^; It looked so goofy XD I guess after seeing Higurashi I’m just jaded @_@ lol.
The second one reminded me of this Japanese drama I wached called Taiyou no Kisetsu. I guess after seeing all this stuff prior to seeing this, this is jsut like “oh yea seen that one before” so it isn’t as “shocking” to me.
oh I read Kodomo Jikan before, hmm cannot reveal much since its abit kinda explicit … but as a lolicon, I give it my personal approval

LOL@bad endings. I am definitely watching School Days after seeing the bad endings. I hope that the anime uses the bad endings. Especially the saw scene. Holy crap. Oh, and apparently there are some interesting “harem” endings, like this one:
“Two Lovers” (「二人の恋人」 Futari no Koibito)
A “harem” ending, Kotonoha and Sekai have admitted and accept that they both love Makoto. They both are pregnant, and want to reveal the news to Makoto as a “Christmas Present.”

Well to say the truth I have a dislike of eroge adoptions.
School Days might go into one of the bad endings but chances are its going to simply cover the “love triangle” with him making a choice that leads neither to the bad ending or also the harem ending.
Also its very possible they end up screwing it up … School Days might be a good surprise, I simply wanted to make clear the source material seen to have merits.
Oh and Hinano, if you like gore perhaps you should look up “Gore Screaming Show” game … just do not play it after you have eaten if what is said about it is true.
I didn’t say I liked gore, I just like mystery/suspense.

It’s quite amusing. I’m kinda curious how they’re planning on doing the anime though, because each chapter is kind of irrelated and at first you have no idea what’s going on >__O

Okay so School Days may have ahd some reaaaally stupid h-scenes but surely some good ol’ crazies make up for that!
@Darkron. Yeah. Everything that’s been said about it is true. Thankfully there is a filter. But I don’t think GSS could be turned into an anime. Even a filter couldn’t help that. A hentai would be the best we could get. But yeah don’t eat ro anything because the game can get pretty disturbing. But that’s just me.
