This must be a MAN thing.
So I ventured into the world of eroge and decided to try playing Aekanaru Sekai no Owari ni. 
Unfortunately I did not get beyond day 2 of the game because of various problems that I guess wouldn’t be problems if you were a Japanese Otaku male. I thought it would be interesting cause I could see the guy’s face in some pics, and it was made by the Otoboku team so maybe it would be funny in some way. Unfortunately because of all the high tech vocabulary (something regarding him joining a shooting game team in order to train to kill people who shot his sister or something?) and the LACK OF VOICES FOR EVERY MALE CHARACTER this game quickly became tedious and difficult to understand for me. I don’t mind when the male lead has monologues but this guy had so much I got so sick of reading everything he said.
Also being an art guru, seeing some of the CGs look so messed up (like oddly shaped hands) really annoyed me like…hey you know even MY hands look better drawn than yours do, and you’re making money off this shit! Well anyway even if I did end up plowing through this, I may not have understood the actual story anyway. The fact that half the character don’t have voices makes things 20 times harder for the kanji impaired.
Lesson learned is, from now on I only play games that have an anime series coming out for them (or had one come out for them) so at least I have something to “motivate” me to play it. That or avoid games where they discriminate against male characters. With that in mind, I wish someone would freaking finish seeding Nanatsuiro Drops. I’m at 99.5% for like 2 days already!!

Try a Bishounen (?) game!
Why not trying something like Tokimemo for girls ?

oh it’s not that I haven’t played any otome games (see my reviews) it’s just i’ve come to the conclusion that eroge is just not for me unless have some sort of motivation to play it (or its as amazing as Clannad)
You should just go to erogamescape and look for well noted renai games, it’s pretty accurate. If you want a really awesome renai game, take Clover Heart’s, it’s widely regarded as one of the best and most touching eroge. Here’s the opening:

I like this game almost as much as CLANNAD.

Play Higurashi (all eight arcs - no voices though I think. YesAsia.com has them)
Well perhaps it would be better to take some of the “classics”, like Kana or Crescendo.
Beyond that its really “hit or miss”, I would never recommend X-Change but I did find X-Change Alternative Ying Yang to be very funny.
And Clannad is not a erogen.

Hm…I’ve tried the demo of that and stopped very early because I kinda got bored and as you said, sometimes, something in the art/anatomy just feels off : >
But BUT! There are H/visual novel games that I enjoy, like Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na - Brighter Than Dawning Blue - and ToHeart 2 : )
Still, I’m bad at remembering and learning kanji and so but there’s just a “nice” feeling that makes me continue playing them xD;

Actually Hinano the “cabbage anime” game seem to been VERY popular and did well in sales …
Yah, the anime is just sad to watch >.
Personally I would recommend these:
To Heart 1 & 2 (2’s Anime may have sucked but the game was really good)
Tokimeki Memorial 1 & 2 (Classics!)
Wind: A breath of heart (very nice Renai game on console)
Memories Off (1 & 3 are the best but the complete ‘History’ version is coming out for windows soon
Hourglass of summer (out on DVD in English)
or a little known Doujin based Renai game of the manga series of Maburaho (much better than the anime) called Maburaho:Koi no Mahou it’s programmed using onscripter so it’s not only close to professional quality but it’s free!
