Sola - 02
Uughhh….this show
is really trying my patience. I keep telling myself “it’ll get better, just look at Da Capo. It’ll get better, just look at Kanon” and then every week it’s like the 3 minutes of good stuff and the rest fulla crap. That girl in the hospital pisses me off. I really wanna smack her by now. The fact that Yorito’s ceiling is covered in sky tiles made me (and JP) go “OH MY GOD COULD HE GET ANY WORSE?” He’s like a sky otaku. I mean I bet he has like sky patterned rugs in his bathroom, a cloud shower curtain. Hell I bet every one of his undies has clouds and sky all over it. There’s a way to get that girl in his pants! So in case you didn’t understand Japanese, Matsuri is a “night” person. I didn’t understand what kind of “bakemono” she was cause I couldn’t find it in the dictionary. Anyway whenever her skin touches the light it gets burned and she has powers to like turn metal into rust or something?_? AND so she says the reason she loves the sky is because she’s never actually seen it since she can only come out at night…hence why she has a skyphilia. Hey Yorito, now you guys have something in common har har! The rest of the episode passed me like a blur. I don’t know how much more of this I can take.

will this somehow go deep into a romance plot? i hope so…
it might but at the rate it’s going it might not even go into it until maybe episode 8 or 9….at this point both of the “ones to get together” are too busy fapping at cloud porn
My friend always like to say this about Shakespeare
” The plot is not the important thing in Shakespeare. It is the emotions the characters are feeling and the plot is a mere device to bring out intense emotion in the characters. ”
Although Sola is no where close to Shakespeare, the emphasis the creators are placing is in similar vein, as many times they let you catch a short peek at the hidden yet deep pain and torrent emotion. Imagine living hundreds of years being denied of manythings everyone takes for granted ( Matsuri and the blue sky ). How would you feel if you are confined to hospital, unable to leave or even move about in the building for you need to avoid sunlight, for extended period of time? ( Aono: I would go crazy if I had to stay in that small room for that whole day and I can understand why she might have become a attention monger ) I see potential for great emotional moments for almost all characters that has appeared so far, but the problem may be that in other things, their potentials are much less. The emphasis on deeply harbored emotions is likely to deter quick advances in romance between characters, as I see more potential for this series becoming a pain and healing type of anime series, instead of a romance series. Another thing I suspect is that the main character himself probably harbors multiple serious mental issues, as it is hard for a person to be normal when they are without parents ( could his parents be dead? ) and with chronically ill sibling. Mana and Koyori also has some hidden issues as it seems that they have recently become sibling for some reason. Is Koyori also sick, since she is shown wearing a pajama in hospital?
For some reason, I have been waiting for another series that can capture passion that is fierce yet also complicated since I last read the ‘Hitsuji no uta ( Lament of the Lamb )’ manga and heard the ED song for OVA version of the same manga. I see Sola having good possibility of being that series. However, subtle passion is not what people desires from anime series, thus this series may fail being commercially successful.
You may be right on that. Or it’s possible that like Kanon or Da Capo, you may have had to play the game to take interest in this? Then again I liked Da Capo despite not really understanding what I played in the game. I’ll give this another episode or 2 but if this pace continues I may drop it. While the beginning parts with the action are cool, the rest of the episode just drags on for me. The scene where she showed him the finger in sun was probably the only cool scene for the rest of the episode.
I watched the first episode, and it did not speed up until the end. Is this based off of a hentai game or something? I cannot really find any information on it. Oh, and his “sister” looks nothing like him…at all.
I didn’t think she was his real sister. I thought she’s like his adopted sister in his pseudo family or whatever. Yes this is based off an eroge
As far as I know a videogame based on this is coming out but sola is not based off an eroge
so far Darker than black, and El Cazador go better imho, but perhaps because I’m into action anime…
