Sola - 01
Well that certainly was…interesting.
I gotta admit until the last 3 minutes, I thought this show was a piece of crap. However the premise of it reminded me of how Higurashi started: Pointless school antics until the last 3 minuts when Rena wields a cleaver. People are also saying the story is by the same guy who did Da Capo and Kanon……and since I really liked the story of both, I guess I will give this a chance (and since it’s only 12 episodes, it’s not like I have to be dragged through it Tokimeki Memorial style.)
The characters are rather “quirky”. You got your “main guy/harem leader”, Yorito, who at this point seems like he’d rather fap to photos of the sky than try to interact with a girl. In fact the only reason he interacts with her is she has a sky patterned umbrella. The girl who I guess he’ll end up with (who I coined Miss Festival because her name is Matsuri), is the one who probably drives the plot of this whole show. She’s pretty mysterious although at first I was like “If her only -trait- is kicking a juice machine, then she fails right there.”
However by the end of the show, something tells me she’s a vampire because some guy chasing after her with a massive sword and shooting light mirrors everywhere…oh and the fact that she’s always in a dark church and only meets Yorito at night. Hmm! None of the other characters impressed me. His “sister” or whatever fake family they got going on there is a typical childhood friend role. The girl in the hospital who is also his “non-related sister” I think, is like Nagato Yuki with a slightly different hair cut/color. They even threw in a goth loli (in a box) who looked like she escaped from the set of Rosen Maiden. Personally I’m just curious to what will happen with Matsuri and maybe the story will develop into something good. I don’t really feel her seiyuu fits this role because I like her in tame roles like Yakumo from School Rumble.
Upcoming Attractions: One of those previews where you see a still picture (and this series obviously just shows you the sky), and people talk in the background about something completely unrelated to what will happen in the next episode.

This is one anime I’m thinking of watching because it looks interesting but I hope it doesn’t turn into Tokimeki Memorial! I was so excited about that one and after the second episode I was done with the show!
Haha yea that’s why I’m giving it another episode. If it’s really that awful I’ll probably drop it. Tokimeki Memorial woulda been ok had it not gone all the way to 25
I am watching this when the fansubbed torrent comes out.
It sounds interesting. I have been getting into vampire manga lately. I just bought Millenium Snow (by the creator of Ouran High School Host Club). I got into the manga Vampire Night, too. XD;
Oops, I mean Vampire Knight.
I guess I’m on the other side so to speak. Being a Shoujo buff I’m actually more into all the stuff other than the “last 3 minutes”. In fact the numerous references to other shoujo titles amuse me (eg the “sister/childhood friend”’s fish hairclip [reference to Lamune], and her living with him and giving him a rough time [Da Capo]; oh and she’s actually my favorite charater now, since I get the feeling she’s a Tsundere type, plus her short hair makes her look cute). And the “vampire girl” (if she is one) kicking the vending machine is a riot
(what’s with the malfunctioning vending machines? and if she’s a vampire or other night being why doesn’t she use any of her powers or anything?).
I am expecting good show from this one…
Sailor> I usually like that stuff but I guess I’m getting weary of the same pattern
If this is only 12 ep I will give it a try.. Just, I’m busy watching other animes simultaneously…>.
“I don’t need women, only SKY!”
I was going to watch this but I’m kinda turned off of it now- maybe I’ll wait until a few episodes have aired and if it sounds better I can always catch up then.
I dunno I’d love to see your adaptation/parody posts on this show XD
Well in that case…I’ll watch any old crap for parody, so it could still be in with a chance.
[...] Honestly I was expecting some typical harem action but the last couple minutes of the first episode really got my attention, as it did for several anime bloggers out there. kurogane pretty much sums my feelings on the seiyuu cast, where Shirukii, Omni, and Hinano give the good word on the actual episode. [...]
Wow u’re great! Dropping a serie after only 2 episodes thinkin you just knew everything.
Fly down, you do not know a thing.
It’s a matter of fact this shows is utterly slow and boring, but I can say that as i watched it all.
If you would have watched to it till ep 6 you’d started notice “some” plot. If you continued watching you’d discover some good development in the plot, so that the anime turned out quite interesting in the final episodes.
Of course it’s not enough to classify this show good above the average. That’s was a pity cause you could compress the whole boring serie into a nice 2-3 eps OAV
btw i just dropped here and this is my first post. Have a nice blogging ^^/
