Just for the record I did watch Guren Lagan and Seto no Hanayome and both were blah/wtf/this is like X show + Y show/overdone/I hate Magikano/Abenobashi meets FLCL/next. So most likely if I don’t post a review of the first episode of something it just means either a) I’m waiting to see ep. 2 to decide whether it’s worth keeping up with or b) It sucked so I’m not even bothering. Anyway what I found more interesting than today’s stupidity was a short drama special called “Kanojo to no Tadashii Asobikata”. It starts out with a little game a young girl and a boy play when they are little, on a rainy day.

The boy sees her sitting alone in the rain and tells her that she should go home or her parents will be worried. She tells him “Why don’t we play a game?” The game is basically where she is the “princess” and he is her “Servant”. The boy agrees to do whatever she says but they have to keep their “relationship” a secret and if anybody finds out the game is over. Unfortunately this game of theirs seems to continue all the way up to their senior year of high school.

In school, Kyouji and Yuuna act like they are strangers but often give each other looks of acknowledgment. She also makes him follow her on her dates with this stupid nerdy/preppy guy. One of those dates, the guy tries to make out with her in the car but she obviously has no interest in him, and naturally Kyouji comes to rescue her. After he almost gets beat up, on the way home he says that this is the last time he is doing this.

The next day in school, Yuuna confronts him in front of everyone in class during lunch. She demands to know why he isn’t applying to Tokyo University with her. He says that what they were doing is a game before but this is a real life changing decision, and he isn’t smart enough to get in. She cries saying that he hates her and that he’s tired of her, even though he pleads for her to take this outside. In the end, she ends up going to Tokyo University without him while he stays in town.

A year or so later, she comes back to visit him. He isn’t sure whether or not he should see her but then he meets an old class mate who was a friend of hers…and she tells him how the whole time Yuuna thought that she and Kyouji were actually bf/gf but wanted to keep it a secret. So even though he thought they were still playing the “princess/servant” game, she thought of him as her boyfriend and he immediately rushes to see her. She tells him he’s late and then jokes that maybe she should be his servant from now on. Well it was a cute short one shot drama and if you like school life/romance I recommend seeing it.
