As I mentioned in my Spring Preview post, Keitai Shoujo is a web anime and also a craptastic game. Too bad the voice cast is excellent which makes me think they needed something to do between their REAL projects. The main guy (who has no voice in the game) is voiced by Ishida Akira, which personally I don’t feel fits the character and only makes him seem like some sort of a stuck up asshole. Unfortunately because Japan hates me Part II, you can only watch this if you have a Japanese IP address or you’re like me and got lucky with a certain download software.

For the actual storyline please see my game review. The anime though seems to be headed in a similar yet different direction. The episode was about 6 minutes long and 3 minutes was spent on just the OP and ending. The animation was pretty damn good for a web anime but because it’s so short, and not ridiculously random like Di Gi Charat, the plot here fails more than the game. The way it’s setup is…every week the episode (or what’s there of it) will focus on one of the girls from the game.

This basically is like watching yourself play the game…and yourself this time being Hiro. You watch as he corresponds via email with the “girl of the week” and then they animate one of the game scenarios (although what scenario they were trying to animate this week is beyond me since it seems the IMPORTANT ones were completely skipped ?_?) Also your fat necked friend, who is no longer fat necked seems to have spent more time with Ichiru this week than you have because you were too busy at home on your bed fapping texting on your cell phone.

What’s funny is they included that sparkly scene (or their version of it) that you run into occasionally during the game. (I mentioned how when you STOP staring she gets mad etc.) So for some reason in this week’s episode Ichiru got mad at you for not waiting for her after practice, but then you texted her a “sorry” and she immediately forgives you and you then watch her practice. Uhh okay. Good job Hiro, 1 down 4 to go.

The OP is pretty…animated! The ending though appears to be “anime” version images of the game CGs. Well since I only played Ichiru’s story I only recognized hers and one of the moaners (whatever her real name is lol.) From the looks of it, this will be a 6 episode web OVA with the last episode being the “girl Hiro ends up with”. Unfortunately though, the girl he ends up with is decided by viewers that have registered/logged into Yahoo Japan. I’m not even gonna bother, they’ll probably tell me you have to be Japanese to register too

Well at least the OP and ED were pretty catchy. I don’t even know if a single will be out for them. Actually I think this show coulda had potential as an actual show had they sorta created their storyline (like DaCapo, Kanon, Air etc do I need to go on?) but I guess they really are just trying to “follow the game”. Also Rin hasn’t even showed up. I mean I don’t even see her anywhere. She’s supposed to “replace” Hiro’s cell phone which is why he ends up hiding it most of the game…yea that actually never happened here.

I dunno if I will continue to blog this…it really depends on whether I can actually GET the episode. x 10.
