Tokimeki Memorial ~Ayame Moves the Plot~ - 21
I guess Ayame got tired of this show going in
circles just as much as me and she took some action to get the Riku x Sayuri crap moving along. (Or in my strange analogies, she gave the constipated story some prunes.) It’s really been a while since I did a full episode summary for this show but this episode was more than “insert filler material here” so here goes. The student council pres wants to spice up the end of the year so he creates a “Christmas” event for the student body. It involves everyone coming in a costume and COUPLES ONLY may enter into the contest. Ayame decides this is her chance to get the plot moving so she randomly forces Riku to go with her, to obviously make Sayuri jealous.
Unfortunately other than making Sayuri a nervous wreck, Mina gets all upset and Tsukasa gets pissed off. Buut in order to be in the show to see Riku, Tsukasa and Mina both ask Riku’s friends to be their “partners”. Sayuri also ends up going when the student council pres asks her to be his co-host (and dress up in a sexy santa suit! :lol:) Before the event though, everyone goes to buy presents that people will be randomly picking out during the event. Tsukasa buys Riku a scarf, Mina buys him a dolphin mug and Sayuri buys him a watch that looks just like hers.
During the event many couples perform. My favorite was seeing Yakuza-chick in a wedding dress. XD Mina’s performance was cool too. She was flying like a fairy/angel thing and her partner guy was like a “priest”. Tsukasa’s was stupid though, she was a snowman performing those un-funny comedic sketches. Riku and Ayame were both dressed as reindeer, and after all the acts it was time for them to pick presents. Riku was chosen as the first person but then the shop lady appeared saying one of the presents has an explosive. Before Riku could open the present, Sayuri ran into him going “NOOOO!” and totally fell on top of him. Due to her “oh so clever” disguise Riku didn’t realize who she was.
The box opened but no explosives came out…however the box was the box that Sayuri had gotten for Riku with the watch in it. Anyway then the sports club captains came and opened a box and that contained all the fireworks which set all the presents to fall all over and have random people catch them. After all that Riku was walking home and ran into Sayuri. He says that because of the explosions all he got was this watch and he never found out who gave it to him. Sayuri was a bucket of blushes by this time and we also found out that for New Year’s, Riku’s parents are going away on a business trip and he’ll be HOME ALONE! (Ahhh!) He also says he was kinda interested in the “Miss Santa” girl…which made Sayuri explode in more blushing. Riku also said the present he got for someone was a hair clip because he thught of someone who has pretty hair. (insert more blushing etc) Anyway as they walked home it began to snow and Sayuri said “merry christmas” as she admired the fact that they have the same watches.
Upcoming Attractions: Happy new year! Riku and Sayuri are FUTARIKIRI at his house! (i hope)

The animation this episode was pretty good, it seemed a lot more detailed than previous episodes.
I enjoyed sayuri’s ms. santa, but those sunglasses were so ugly.
Sayuri + blushing = cute.
The animation style gave me Gatekeepers flashbacks
I just wonder why i hate Sayuri so much . and her blushing makes me hate her even more.
Cause she’s fake as hell? I could see reasoning in that….I’m afraid though the series is headed in her direction so you might wanna avoid it from now on XD

Small correction. It was the shop lady who appeared to Sakurai-kun and Sayuri saying one of the presents has an explosive, not Shiina.
Ren> Isn’t the shop lady’s name “Shiina-san”? That’s what impression I was under when writing that sentence. Frankly I don’t even remember anyone’s names except like Riku and his harem

No, the shop lady’s full name is never mentioned through the series.
Oh I forgot to mention! Students call the shop lady “Onee-san” like Riku has called her before.
The only thing I know about the Shiina-san name part is in fact Ayame’s last name. Riku has always called her Shiina-san.

I’m glad you said that because I am not those types of people you’ve mentioned. I’m observant, but not at any extreme (in other words, I am not very picky).

What did Sayuri said while she was staring out at the window looking at other couples walking and talking?
She was just like “I wonder what Ayame was thinking when she asked Aoba-kun. Does she like him or something??” Oh Sayuri

I think this is the first time that we (as viewers) see Sayuri visibly jealous since previous times when Riku is with other girls, we only see the back of her head, not showing her facial expression of her jealousy.
This isnt the first time lol
THe first time is when she snapped seeing Tsukasa all over Riku and was all like “SHUT UP!”
Oh yeah, that’s right!
When the other students were talking to Sayuri the same time at once about the festival plans, putting a lots of pressure on her, then she saw Riku being hugged by Tsukasa and that’s when the thin string snapped (though we see the back of her head first, then the SHUT UP! part comes in when Riku wanted to talk to her) 
I have to admit, that this is a good episode though.
Finally we’re moving to something rather than all the previous epis. I wish that the fansubbers just skip through all the other epis and directly sub this one.
p/s:wonder what sayuri and riku talking about at the end of the episode.
Oh they were just saying how “i wonder if we’ll have this much fun next year” and she was all like “yea we will” and that’s when the discussed who gave what present (I think i mentioned that in my summary?)
Oh yeah thanks again..you we’re mentioned about it. But just wondering about the part that he told Sayuri that he’s going to be alone in the next episode.
i don’t know about eveybody else but I really want Riku to end up with Sayuri:)
