Yuuichi is a cat abuser!

How dare he kick my Piroshki! Anyway someone last week suggested I not bother comparing this to the TOEI version because TOEI completely changed the ending. They may have a point but there were some scenes in TOEI that were similar (such as Ayu disappearing.) Hey TOEI even included the scene of her digging through the snow (except in KyoAni version she had her coat off…where DID her coat go anyway?) Like a few others, I find it a bit strange how our sarcastic Kyonichi all of a sudden is like “OMAE GA SUKI DA.” Like yea I know he was gonna end up with Ayu anyway…but because they had to get Makoto, Mai, and Shiori outta the way first it feels really strange for him to suddenly ignore her feelings up until now. If he had at least warmed up to her previously I think it woulda done for a better transition. I guess this kind of thing is hard to do when you make an eroge adaptation and try to get ALL the girls endings at once. O_O The only mystery that remains is….what’s gonna happen with Nayuki?
Upcoming Attractions: Ayu turns into Harry Houdini by disappearing and reappearing again…er I mean Yuuichi’s slapped in the face with reality.

First to post! Yay~
Same here, I’m still have trouble recovering from the shock in terms of the pacing…. i mean how in the world U1 got so blushy in just 1 episode!?
Its a lil too fast for me, even tho i no the relationship of them two are rooted since 7 years ago.
Otherwise highlights:
1) ecchi fan service of Ayu O___O and i thought i was praising KyoAni for their seldom use of meaningless fanservice last night… wait i dont mean im against it….
2) luv the last scene… wait Ayu fans dont chuck rocks at me im on ur side!!! I mean luv the making of the scene!
3) ayu in seifokku = sweetness
4) i actually liked the sparrow… i cant think of any other anime that had such details on a non-significant object GJ on that.
5) brilliant use of color theme in the sunset sky. it makes resemblence to the u no wat scene that will be revealed later.
So much for now, cheers all =P
It’s seifuku and yes she looked cute. I personally liked her shorts that she had on when she held Yuuichi’s hand haha. They were like the same pattern as that on her coat hood.
Yea the Ayu fanservice was surprising considering the bath scene was restricted only to Makoto in the game.
And what sparrow? I totally blank out when I try to remember. Kyoani’s done a good job matching most of the moods to the game ones…sometimes even surpassing them.
Oops, thnx for correcting me =)
I’m still a noob in japanese language :\
“what’s gonna happen with Nayuki?”
Most probably, they’ll spend the next couple of episodes going over her story whilst Yuuichi is isolated and angsting. Ayu’s disappearance creates the perfect opportunity for Nayuki’s story to proceed, since it involves Yuuichi being socially isolated, and at this moment all the other girls have either vanished or are in hospital. The trauma involving Akiko will present itself and be resolved, and Yuuichi will come to realise how Nayuki feels about him. Then we’ll have one spring episode where each of the girls’ endings are shown (Shiori’s fate, Mai’s graduation, etc), before the last episode reintroduces Ayu and the series ends.
What I’m really curious about is how KyoAni will dramatise Ayu’s ending. Toei did a fabulous job, IMHO, by making Yuuichi the catalyst whereby Ayu is awakened and letting Nayuki make the important discovery. In the game, Ayu’s awakening is essentially spontaneous, and it doesn’t make for a very exciting final episode.
Yea I really like how TOEI did the ending and I have faith that KyoAni will not let us down
I agree with Tim’s assessment of the TOEI ending. I know it’s different form the game, but it works well. It provides closure for Nayuki (her moving on), get it’s Yuuichi in action, and Ayu’s return is more dramatic. I really seen 21-22 being Nayuki-based 23-24 resolving Nayuki and Ayu, and the last part of 24 resolving everyone else. It just seems like Kanon just started! Yet the end is near.
Yuuichi: Let’s go visit your school!
Me: NOOOOO DON’T GO
Akiko: I’m going to work!
Me: NOOOOO DON’T GO
Ayu: Can I come in from the balcony?
Me: NOOOOO They cut the ero!
:(((
Eleu> They replace it with a forehead kiss! lol
Hey what about that fade to black… =p
@Eleutheria
Didn’t they put enough E-Ro at the bath scene already O_o *FLEES*
Yeah, I was thinking the “forehead kiss” was the ero scene. There are bad ero scene replacements, though. *cough* Fate/Stay Night *cough* You would have to see the episode to see how hilarious it was.
That was a fast evolving relationship for Ayu and Yuuichi. I LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU, TOO. LET’S KISS EACH OTHERS’ FOREHEADS. OKAY.
[...] Whoaaaa can’t the creator of Hoshi no Koe ever make a HAPPY ENDING? Would it kill you to spend more time on your story instead of showing us pretty backgrounds for 24 minutes? I mean I realize background is important in an episode and all but why must you sacrifice story and character design? Seriously the character look like aliens to me. I know I’m gonna get bricked by all the fanboys telling me that this is the best thing EVAR11111!!!!ONE but honestly let’s step back and compare this to other “sad X in snow“. The whole time I sat there going “Am I watching that Hedgehog’s Dilemma episode of Eva? Is Shinji on another train? What?” Then he FINALLY gets to see the girl in the last like 4 minutes, eats her bento, kisses her and then he moves away to Kagoshima. I looked it up on google maps and it’s like WAYYYYY down there. Probably involves a flight or so (perhaps the distance from New Jersey to South Carolina. ) Oh yea and to add on to the emoness (and sad boys in snow) he’s at the prime emotional age of 13. I am told there’s a couple more episodes but I can only imagine more sad X in snow/rain/sakura trees/trains….with no happy ending. [...]
@Deftoned
I agree in all respects, except that I think the other girls’ stories are going to resolve in the beginning to middle of ep 24 before Ayu provides the end. It makes for a more dramatic conclusion, and also creates a sense of irony earlier on in the episode: everyone has a happy ending thanks to Yuuichi, but he himself has been denied one (or so he thinks). That’s pretty much how Toei handled it. I didn’t like a lot of aspects of their production, but I cannot fault the ending. It was superbly handled.
Which is my fear with KyoAni. Unlike Toei, they’ve been singularly unwilling thus far to take liberties with Key’s original script, and in order to write a really dramatic and satisfying finish, they’re going to have to.
From my comments last week, I take it all back after watching this episode, I severely underestimated the dramatic capabilities of Ayu’s arc.
But on a seperate note, in retrospect, the fact that everyone Yuuichi gets involved with ends up dissapearing, dying, or getting backhanded into the side of a wall by a giant invisible demon is actually kind of funny.
*Ayu says goodbye*
****=Yuuichi: oh son of a @#$%! Thats like the FIFTH TIME!
@Tim
I went back and read what I wrote, and I had EXACTLY what you just mentioned in mind when I first wrote. Ayu would be last. I think when I said “23-24 resolving Nayuki and Ayu,” I had in mind, their stories’ development would end and then in later part of 24 would everyone’s stories end.
We’ve got the same idea, but I typed it out a bit off.
I agree with MoppyPuppy, this is, what? The third time a girl has dissappeared on poor Yuuichi? xD
Can’t wait for next weeks episode though.
Yuuichi just can’t keep his Harem members together these days
I have read the walkthrough about the game. If Kyoani follow the game storyline accurately (and they’re following accurately until now ^_-) i think we get a Nayuki’s ending. I’m a big fan of Nayuki (but i love Ayu too). I think in the next episode they will end Ayu’s arc to enter in the final arc, with Nayuki.
Still I’m convinced that with the fateful tree in teh op and running Ayu in the ed, they are going with the Ayu route, especially now Ayu relationship has gone further than any previous. (Yuichi blushing, full kiss and all!) At least next episode Nayuki’s getting some one-on-one time with Yuichi. And still I’m protesting loli-centrism, Akiko (and MILF in general) FTW!
