Himitsu no Hanazono - 06

Published by Hinano at 11:57 am under Himitsu no Hanazono

It appears I was hit with a ton of spam in the last 2 days so some comments got eaten. I tried to salvage all I could within the 7 pages of “sex” and “free ringtones” but if your comment got eaten I’m sorry :(. Anyways this week was really interesting. The more I watch this drama the more my brain kicks me in the butt saying “Stop playing Ragnarok Online and work on your manga ho!” Anyway in this episode we see a flashback on how the brothers began the whole Hanazono Yuriko thing. It turns out Osamu and Wataru were trying to do a Shounen manga but because the art and story weren’t good enough they were gonna give up. However one day they ran into Tanaka while eating at a Ramen cart and he suggested they do a Shoujo manga instead.

Tanaka told Hinata to write the story. He told Satoshi to be the “manager” and take care of deals and the like. Osamu would do the main art while Wataru would do the backgrounds. When they finished the first chapter Tanaka was moved and decided to be their editor in chief. Because the brothers feel like they owe him, they agree to do the autograph session and decide to have Kayo act as Hanazono Yuriko. They have her improve her manners and act like a Yamato Nadeshiko. They also give her a sample Hanazono-sensei autograph and make her learn how to forge it.

The autograph session takes place somewhere in a small country side called Hanazono. It’s at the Hanazono school and everyone seems to fall for the act. They even open up the entire gym for people to fill. Coincidentally, Kayo’s ex-boss is there on a trip with her office and when she finds out that Hanazono-sensei’s havin an autograph session she immediately runs to see who this mystery Hanazono Yuriko is. Before the sign session, the brothers act as Kayo’s “assistants” and while they’re all out doing errands (much to their shock), the announcer guy asks if Kayo can sign for his daughter.

After signing Kayo has a change of heart. She explains to all the brothers that she cannot do this. She feels she has cheated this little girl’s dream to be a “mangaka just like her”. Satoshi is angry saying that she can’t back out now it’s too late, but Wataru interferes saying that Kayo has a point and they are cheating the fans. The two of them fight and then the announcer guy drags Kayo on stage. There she states that she is not Hanazono Yuriko and profusely appologizes. Everyone is shocked (and Tanaka passes out), when suddenly Wataru rushes on stage saying that Hanazono-sensei was unable to make it due to illness so they had this girl come in her place.

As an appology, Wataru offers everyone “gifts” that came for the session. The gifts are basically drawings of the people by Wataru & Osamu. They say “they can draw this well because they are assistants”. Afterwards, the ex-boss confronts Tanaka because she says “So Hanazono Yuriko really IS those 4 guys isn’t? You left me for them!” Tanaka says nothing and walks away just like he did in the past. After the whole fan session, Kayo appologizes to Wataru once again but he says “no it’s okay. Thank you”. In the meantime, Satoshi was spying on the two of them through the window.

Upcoming Attractions: They want to do some kind of radio drama and speaking of drama things are getting dramatic between Wataru & Kayo.

Ha, I love it that Tanaka was the one who started them off on shoujo manga XD I’m glad that Ryoko finally figured it out–now things can get sorted out between her and Tanaka (I hope). I can’t wait for the sub! How many episodes long is this series going to be?

I’m not sure. Maybe 11? That seems to be a pretty common number.

I see that you like live action J-doramas…I just got started watching them myself (”Gokusen” was my first, I take it you’ve seen it?) What would you recommend to a newcomer to J-doramas, aside from the newest stuff you cover here? Like any all time favorites?

Yep I’ve seen both Gokusens. I have a page with all the dramas I’ve watched and my opinions on them so if you’d like to take a look:

I like how Wataru observed Kayo’s pain and understood what she was going through, and even apologized to the fans by bowing with his head to the floor. Satoshi seemed really crass, but then again, I guess that’s the manager’s job.

Do you think Kayo will hook up with Wataru? I admire his personality, but his looks…

I also liked how Satoshi did the “tango” with the ex-boss (whatever her name is) to prevent her from trying to see Hanazono Yuriko was. ^_^

Haha yea Wataru isn’t the best looking guy around but for some reason I prefer him to Satoshi. Satoshi’s so immature I wanna slap him sometimes.

Yea that tango was soo funny when she was like all turning to him and all following along ahhahaa. :D

    *gah!* not again!

I love Wataru :) Althought I’m kind of mad at Kayo for announcing that she wasn’t Hanazono-sensei right there and then. Being an extreme fan myself, I’d probably be really ticked off to know that someone I camped out for is actually a fraud. If I were in Kayo’s place I would’ve just declined to do another autograph session instead of announcing it right then and there that she cheated everyone.
