Winter Garden - Part 1
KAWAAIIIIIIIIIIIII!
Okay so this was super cute and all raburabu and like made me all warm and squishy inside. So anyway as I mentioned in my previous post, this is a 10 years later version of Di Gi Charat. Dejiko is now 20 and Puchiko is now 15. Puchiko attends high school and is busy with sports practices all the time. Dejiko is working at a cake restaurant as a waitress. The two of them live together in a small apartment.
So one day Dejiko is going home after work and she slips on some snow and her cake gets squashed in the process. In the meantime, a dude named Takurou (who coincidentally is named after all the Takurous in the original series) sees it and gives her his nicer cake. He takes her broken up one and tells her to have a nice Christmas. Dejiko goes home and tells Puchiko what happened, immediately inciting a reaction from Puchiko to draw a 4-koma about the two of them. Puchiko is all like “Did you make a time to see him again or what?” Dejiko is of course all like “no… *profuse blushing”
After Christmas, Dejiko and Puchiko go to the shrine for the New Years celebration thing. Because of a ton of people they get separated. In the meantime, Takurou is there with I guess his girlfriend? Actually to be honest I don’t know what she is to him. I just know she’s staying at his house so for all I know she could be his sister or cousin with an incest-complex. Anyway while Dejiko is walking around looking for Puchiko, she bumps (literally) into Takurou.
She then apologizes and blushes profusely once more. She tells him that she got separated with her sister. He doesn’t say that he got “separated” with his girlfriend/sister/cousin/whatever though so this is more proof that perhaps she is not his g/f. (Actually his girl/sis whatever ran off chasing Rabi ~en ~Rose because apparently in this show she is a famous drama actress!) They talk a bit on what the two of them do. Dejiko says that she works at the cake restaurant and he tells her he does some part time work to scrap up money for a film that he and his friends are trying to make. She says it sounds fun and he is surprised because usually when people hear that they say “That must be hard.”
Since Dejiko told Takurou where she worked, he came in to visit her and eat some cake. She is blushing (as usual) and shows him to his table. Dejiko gets home and tells Puchiko that he had stopped by and Puchiko once again keeps asking “Did you make a promise to see him again??” And she was like “but he said “ja mata ne” which is like “see ya later”. Dejiko says that made her happy and Puchiko’s all like “What are you, a jr high school girl?” Puchiko also tells her she wants to get a part time job so she’s gonna quit playing one of her sports. The next day Puchiko gets a part time at McDonald’s.
Later that day Puchiko waits for Dejiko to get off her work shift. The two of them walk home discussing on what they will have for dinner. While walking they run into Takurou. Puchiko figures out he’s the guy Dejiko likes and says she “forgot something at school” and then runs off and hides behind a soda machine. Takurou asks Dejiko if she’d like to have dinner with him and Dejiko agrees. Puchiko sees this from far and goes “What about my dinner!” but she goes home and makes herself some convenient store bought junk.
Finally during dinner Takurou had asked Dejiko if she had days off and he wanted to do something with her. Dejiko is really shocked but she agrees. The two of them then meet up down by the shore and have a picnic with a lunch Dejiko brought. This is basically where the credits roll. Wahh this whole thing is so cute *_* Seriously I wondered if Dejiko would ever GEt with someone. I mean we always saw Usada and Minagawa Takurou but Dejiko never got anyone so this whole OVA makes me happy. Episode 2 should air tomorrow so if I got time I’ll blog it as well.

Sounds good–I’m a sucker for shows like this, so hopefully it gets subbed or licensed eventually…
no more NYO~ …. ??

(I overlooked Winter Garden!)
Dejiko has mellowed way too much. Puchiko is more my type even though she’s going to become an absolute terror later on (precocious little brat)
I personally was expecting something that was hardcore dramatic.
And I’m not gonna lie, the guy in this story bieng with someone other than Dejiko wasn’t what I’d call “gut-wrenching.” I felt nothing.
And in Part II, the ending was weak.
Oh so very weak. Or maybe my standards are just really high. I dont know.

I was dissapointed. BUT SUDDENLY, while searching the internet for information on Winter Garden prior to its release, I came across this place, and in turn, stumbled across Kanon, which has succeeded in every area Winter Garden failed in.
