What “Winter Garden” actually is.

Published by Hinano at 3:07 pm under Unsorted, Winter Garden

You know I’ve been seeing a few posts from people on their “winter picks” etc. I was going to do one myself but then decided “meh not enough series to bother.” However I have noticed a very sad pattern:

No one actually knows what winter garden is.

I’ve seen people say “It looks cute” or “The animation looks nice” or “I like the character designs.”

Does no one realize this is a 10 years into the future Di Gi Charat?? Am I the only person who is looking forward to this solely because of the fact that it’s a 20 year old Dejiko and a 15 year old Puchiko?? Whoa are anime bloggers these days total anime noobies?
Really. It just makes me sad. :(

We now return to your regularly scheduled program.
(By the way, is it just me or is Winter Garden scheduled to only be a 2 episode thing?)

I knew what Winter Garden is, but then I’ve been a fan long enough to remember when DiGiCharat was actually funny (which means, errr, the first series ^^;).

The concept of Winter Garden kind of scares me though.

Oh you’re right. I simply forgot that Digi Charat reference. 4 years ago when I peeked at it the first time, I totally disliked it. But who knows, maybe I’ll like it now? *g*

Digi> No wayyy its like DEJIKO IN LOVE, im soo lookin fwd to it hahaha. OH I love dramatic spinoffs. (And I think the very first series was probably the best one ..the 16 ep one.)

Sasa> You actually might because it appears the premise of the story is on the opposite pole of what the first series consisted of.

I had only watched two episodes of Di Gi Charat off a VCD which came as a free gift for buying a Taiwanese magazine a long time ago. It was really boring IMO and I had listed the anime as my least favourite ever since. =\

Which one did you watch? Digi Charat nyo? Cause that was pretty boring that even I myself dropped it haha

I read Winter Garden was only a 2-episode OVA, but still looking forward to it–I’m assuming it’ll be more serious than DiGiCharat (not that it could be LESS serious).

I’d love to see a more serious drama/romance version of Galaxy Angel too–based on the little glimpses of that possiblity in the ’serious’ episodes they’d occasionally mix in with the usual batshit insane comedy, I think it could work really well.

I knew that it had something to do with DigiCharat, though I wasn’t sure what exactly. It’ll be interesting to see the grown-up versions of these cute characters, even though I only managed to see the first two episodes of the original Digi Charat.

And yeah, it’ll only consist of two episodes, nothing more. For now. ;)

Yea, I remember reading about that and I could only think “This is related to DiGiCharat?” XD

I’m really looking forward to watching this, even though I didn’t watch Di Gi Charat. Is this one of the few times where we see a sequel or ova with the characters substantially grown up instead of just 1 or 2 years later? I cannot recall watching any anime that had this concept.

Wait…there’s a show where it’s Digi Charat fast forwarded 10 years? Never heard about it…

Alright, I read the website which hidebon linked to. All I want to see is Adult Dejiko using EYEBEAM on this 仙波拓郎 poser.

Another thing Winter Garden is is a chance to hear the amazing uber-moe voice of Sasaki Nozomi (the voice of Nana-chan in Bokura ga Ita) in another role (Aiko). Wow, she was good in ep24 of Bokura.

I think Winter Garden was actually made last summer, since I read of someone having seen it then. And yeah, it is scheduled for two episodes, the first to be broadcast late at night Dec22, the second the next night. Info on ANN, on the site ひでぽん mentioned, or here (Japanese):

Puchiko looks like a generic shoujo heroine. I swear I’ve seen that uniform before.

suguru: Play the games. I just finished the first one a while ago (although I don’t remember how I got the Shiva CGs…) and it’s pretty good. Also, considering it’s a pure game, it’s written so little kids can read it. There’s what, 5 kanji in the entire thing? Always a plus if you suck at Japanese like I do.

  18. [...] KAWAAIIIIIIIIIIIII! Okay so this was super cute and all raburabu and like made me all warm and squishy inside. So anyway as I mentioned in my previous post, this is a 10 years later version of Di Gi Charat. Dejiko is now 20 and Puchiko is now 15. Puchiko attends high school and is busy with sports practices all the time. Dejiko is working at a cake restaurant as a waitress. The two of them live together in a small apartment. [...]

Archival digging because I am bored.

It takes a certain amount of insanity and an uber high tolerance to the mega-saccharine diabetes inducing sweetness to actually watch Di Gi Charat. We should start a Koge Anonymous group. “Hello, I’m soandso, and I’m addicted to Koge stuff”

/me hides the Di Gi Charat / Winter Garden DVDs

Haha I love Koge Donbo’s work but I gotta admit I never got into the Di Gi Charat MANGA. I think Pita Ten is her best work so far. Kamichama Karin was cute but it didn’t make me cry :P

  21. Di Gi KazuneNo Gravatar MALAYSIAon 24 Oct 2007 at 10:02 am

Di Gi Charat is best served anime. Original series. Now I’m glad I didn’t buy the original dvds… because now it’s a thinkpak set of 10… but I have the Hoshi no Tabi LE DVD with a box that is now holding… the pitamanga instead of the dvds :p

Pitaten is more serious. Kamichama was SUPPOSED to be a two part gag until it became popular. Should try kon kon kokon one day… when I visit Borders’
