NHK ni Youkoso! - 18

Published by Hinano at 7:24 pm under N.H.K. ni Youkoso!

This show is starting to get pretty deep these days. In order to help Sato get out of the debt, Misaki runs to the bookstore and picks up a self-help book on how to properly get out of this. The book mentions a “cooling off” period which is basically when you go back to the person who fooled you, and try to return the product to get your money back and thus get out of the debt. They call up that chick and meet her at a restaurant. On the way there, Sato’s hikki alarm goes off and he ends up having a fit and running to the bathroom after they (they being Misaki, Sato and Yamazaki) get off the train.

When they meet her at the restaurant, she actually seems rather willing to take back the stuff and return the money. However, as the conversation progresses, the brainwashes all 3 of them that she has these special tablets that are “ANTI-NEET” and will save you from hikkikomorism (as well as create the JAPANESE DREAM!) The 3 of them totally buy this, and she also says in order to get the tablets they have to become salespeople.

On the way home, Misaki is reading through her book about all of this and realizes that they’ve been duped again. They go home and read further into the book about how to have another cooling off period, and this time NOT be fooled by the other person. They get the address of that inchou (class rep), and go to her house. She tries running away but Sato throws the bag of stuff and prevents her from shutting the door.

She threatens to call the police but Sato says “That’s my line, fooling me all these times!” Anyway eventually the 3 of them get into her house and she brings out the contract to get their money back. While Sato is signing it, he hears someone stomping on the ceiling. She claims that it’s like a “pet” and it’s “demanding food”. The 3 get curious and go upstairs. The moment they open the room, they find a hikkikomori guy in there who runs and hides under his chair when he sees them. They look on his computer screen and both Yamazaki and Sato realize it’s the ToroToro guy from that MMORPG.

Upcoming Attractions: Everyone tries to save the other hikkikomori guy.

Erm. I don’t really understand the preview bit about saving the other hikkikomori guy. The action taken by the 3 of them just seems so illogical given they’ve got more urgent matters to take care of for themselves.

The inchou also struck up a bad chord in these 2 episodes; I remembered being acquainted with a few people of the same personality and it just really, really put me off. What’s more is that she was actually a genuinely nice person in the first place, like how some of my acquaintances were. sigh. Episode 17 was actually a pretty good episode but I found the reality check to have quite a sting.

In any case, though i haven’t read the manga i’m under the impression that the anime is actually on a more serious note? Mainly because it is openly highlighting the real problems that are associated with certain hobbies.

It’s probably why I still watch NHK anyway. It may not be what I expected, but that doesn’t mean i’d dislike it. =)

I’m sorry to hear you had friends like that @_@;; THen again poor Sato gets brainwashed easily so most likely I’d be able to see through these kinds of things.

I’m never really sure about the previews for the episodes but I did see someone standing behind the other hikki guy and hugging them, hence that’s what my assumption was based on.

I think this is like a lesson for Sato to see “the otherside” of the hikkikomori..to look at someone “like himself” from the “outsider’s” point of view.

I did not watch this episode, but who did she manage to brainwash the three of them, I thought at least Yamazaki was intelligent enough, that he does not fall for something like a ponzi scheme.

The manga (much more crazier) is sometimes a lot better then anime version, they should not elaborate the serious drama like part instead the crazy out of the world part seen episode 3,4,5 back to the eroge doujin days.

Yea I was rather surprised that Yamazaki was like “If he won’t buy them I WILL!” lol

Haven’t read the manga and probably won’t even look into it until the anime ends because it might make me hate the show

Haha, on the contrary I felt it was a worthwhile experience for me to encounter such people. Though it does make me a bit paranoid every now and then, i have to take caution. It’s kind of a habit nowadays.

I’m waiting for my friend’s order of Vol. 6 of the NHK manga (i think it was Vol. 6) because it comes with the game that Yamazaki and Satou made together, I’m quite curious as to how it is. Rofl. =3
