Negima!? - 05 - Exploding Eggs
You know I don’t mind TOO much 
of Shaft’s creativity as I said before….however I’d like to know why they waste like 14 minutes on random shit, and then try to make it up by adding like 10 minutes of story, in between the shit. It reminds me of these salads I used to buy at the convenience store that had diced olives in them. I hate olives but I liked the salad so I’d be sitting there trying to pick out all the salad and not eat the olives. It was very annoying, just like this anime is starting to become. If I was a first time Negima watcher I think it would be even worse.
For the love of ham why?

A lot of Negima!? reminds me way more of Tsukuyomi over PPD. Episodes of Hazuki sticking her arm through Kouhei… followed shortly thereafter by her forced to dress in a cat mascot suit while the grandfather fakes a heartattack to hit on a nurse. I am more a fan of Shaft’s brand of witty humor than Akamatsu’s more slapstick oriented though, and since I’ve already gone through the manga, I’m fine with the changes. Keeps things new and interesting. Sure it’s not NEGIMA, but 10 minutes of plot an episode is still moving along at a pretty damn good clip, and if they keep me entertained in the interim, I’m ecstatic.
That Takamichi cameo just needs white gloves and a SEELE “Sound Only” monolith behind it….

I didn’t say it wasn’t odd, but that was one thing that Tsukuyomi did very well that Negima!? also excels at… creating a kind of dichotomy between the serious and comedic sides of the show that don’t really overlap. Jubei-Chan was another series that I thought did that rather well, though that wasn’t SHAFT. It does take a certain bend of the mind to be able to flip between the two though, so *shrug*

Only season 1 of Jubei Chan? Man. Season 2 was marvelous. Quite derivitive of season 1, but had some of the best action sequences and direction around. :-p
