Tokimeki Memorial ~Riku’s Marathons~ - 05
For those who asked me last week 
“Is this show always about Riku running?” The answer apparently is yes. I think this is some kind of running (har har) gag that we’re probably going to see throughout the show. (Kinda how Kenny always dies in South Park.) So the generic school life event this week is the sports festival. In one of the events they get a bunch of beefy men to run after Riku and if he can escape he wins, and as usual he has superman legs so he wins the event. (Except this time he had devil horns instead of nekomimi.)
All the girls cheer Riku on because he scored his class 300 points putting them ahead of everyone else. They have lunch with him while all the other guys sulk in the corner. Sayuri tells him that he did a good job and he gets all blushy. Then Tsukasa glomps him and says she made a lunch for him. It looks okay and when he’s about to eat it, the Yakuza chick kicks his hand away. Riku’s confused but then Tsukasa’s friend tries a tako weiner and gets food poisoning. Yakuza chick sweatdrops in a “whew I just saved your ass buddy” fashion.
Next is the 3 legged race. Because that girl got food poisoning, Sayuri took her place and ran with Riku. They had to get an item and theirs was a silver accessory. Riku remembered that the badass dude wears one and when they approached him, he refused to give it and walked away saying he doesn’t give a shit about school events. Unfortunately Riku and Sayuri accidentally fell over and Sayuri sprained her ankle.
At the end, Riku and Sayuri accidentally get locked in the gym shed, but unlike in an eroge they don’t do anything naughty and just sit there discussing stuff. Riku appologizes for ruining the sports festival for her and Sayuri says that this actually is a “new memory” for her because it’s the first time that she’s skipped the sports festival and got locked in a shed with a boy. Riku also tells her stories about how he used to move a lot and about how he came from a snowy town. Riku’s friends who feel bad about not finding him and being out most of the race, go to the crazy science teacher and he gives them some sort of explosive medicine that causes huge crater holes in the ground but makes class A win the sports festival.
Upcoming Attractions: Something with a pink haired girl, that badass dude, and an art room (and rain.)

About time there’s a Sayuri episode! I agree with your opinions on Tsukasa (commentary from episode 3 or 4), she’s just too up front and in your face. Mina is nice, but I have yet to see subs for ep 4, so I’ll reserve my opinions on her.
I’m actually confused as to who the main girl is in all this. One would think it’s Sayuri, but until this episode, she hasn’t really had a huge role other than cameos. Or perhaps that’s the thing about this series… there isn’t a main girl. Or whatever… it’s brainless entertainment for me.
I’m under the impression that Sayuri’s the designated girl though I would like a surprise the order of SHUFFLE.
I’m rooting for Mina.

Mina is cuter than Sayuri but Sayuri has that “main girl” feel for some reason…who knows though…she is a pretty boring/cliched character though. (I dunno whats worse though her or Tsukasa’s cliched personality)
