NHK ni Youkoso! - 16
Hope everyone had a good weekend!
You know this episode really made me want to play MMORPG’s less and less. I know it’s like stating the obvious truth about them but ugh did they have to be so blatant about it? Anyway in an attempt to break Sato free from his game, Misaki puts on cat bells, cat ears and attaches a cat tail on to herself. Sato thinks it’s some kind of a sick joke and says that she should go to a cosplay fest if she wants to cosplay. Misaki explains that it’s what the girl in the game he’s playing looks like and he gets angry saying “Don’t ever make fun of Mia!!”
Sato is still trying to do the “trade valuable items for real money” thing so with Mia, they gather a group of people to help defeat a dragon. One of the kids in the group says “Good luck trying to get money….if you can.” By this point, Sato doesn’t give a damn about that because he’s like in love with this virtual character. However, his dreams are crushed when Mia asks to come “see him in real life”. Before Sato can refuse, she does…and it turns out, Mia was actually a character created by Yamazaki.
Sato is so shocked he starts crying. Yamazaki is really cool in this scene because he tells it to him like it is! He explains that there’s no way someone as gullible as Sato can ever do this item for money trade thing. Also to properly get money he says would take a lot of times and tells Sato to imagine himself in 50 years. Sato pictures this fatass hikki in his room, surrounded by garbage, eating junk food and bragging that he has a level 13,000 magic knight.
Sato is so upset and frustrated he tells Yamazaki to get out of his room. He then proceeds to grab a chair and haul it at Yamazaki who freaks out and runs back to his apartment. At this point Sato is sitting in his room depressed not knowing what to do with himself, when he gets a phone call. The call is from the girl who was class president in his class. She says that she has a surprise for him and wants to meet up. With this Sato leaves his apartment, at the same time as Misaki is going there. She comes, dressed in her old jr. high uniform and with a bag of hand made dinner, only to find his place deserted.
Upcoming Attractions: Sato’s old classmate attempts to save him.

Good to see Gonzo is following the endless downwards spiral and not making up some uplifting theme of their own.
I kinda liked the uplifting theme though
Misaki has my vote as “Catgirl of the Year”! (LOL)
This is also definitely turning into the year of the “trap” - I figured that Mia was one, but I never expected it to be Yamazaki.
This show is scary in one way - Yamazaki is turning into one of the saner and more “normal” people in it.
So, next week, will Satou get a chance to “get religion”? (LOL)
I really don’t know what next week is. “welcome to happiness” or something. I”m starting to see a pattern in NHK…and its like “Sato has nothing to do with his time, so he keeps getting scouted by random freaks to try anything and everything”
Misaki-chan in neko mimi… win.
Highlight of my week, rofl.
I am quite surprised that they are following the manga the way they would - not completely faithful - but close enough to seemingly appease both types of viewers: those which have read the manga and are watching the anime, and those which haven’t read the manga yet. I’m intrigued to see how Gonzo will portray the next few episodes as compared to the manga…and by the way nekomimi Hazuki > nekomimi Misaki ^_^
To an extent, NHK is a “Pinocchio” for the 21st Century. Satou is an “innocent” who is prey for every “fairweather friend” who sniffs him out…
awww, Yamazaki virtually cross-dressing
Shiroi: It seems like it, as I myself have never read the manga and I enjoy it.
Dave: good point XD
Ewok: He prolly liked it to some extent lol
hoho i loved this part of the manga. can’t blame satou for having death wishes - the shit just keeps slamming into his face rofl.
well i got a female char for a time in my mmorpg, then grown bored of guys hitting on her
I wouldn’t say iincho tries to save him… not at all…
