NHK ni Youkoso! - 13
Man this episode
had me on the edge of my seat. I mean I knew they weren’t gonna die but I didn’t know HOW they would resolve this whole thing. So anyway Misaki, Senpai’s boyfriend and Yamazaki all get into his car and drive down the seaport. There they take a boat to try to reach the Off kai before the evening time. The plan for them to suicide is at night so they try to make it there as fast as possible. On the way Yamazaki questions Misaki and tells her that they know that their apartment is visible from her house.
The whole time Sato pretends that he is with everyone but inside he’s like “gawd I don’t wanna die!!” Everyone tells their stories about how they stole money from their families and how they got suspended from school for drug dealing. Senpai goes on to talk about her usual “inbou (conspiracy)” thing and say how no one cares about her etc. Sato just keeps thinking that all he wanted to do was cheer her up and spend a nice vacation…not end their lives.
Eventually their little bonfire ends and they all go up on the cliff. Sato is hesitant but then follows the rest of them anyway. On top of the cliff everyone shakes his hand and thanks him for giving them the best “last day” of their lives. Sato however still doesn’t want to die but then Senpai goes up to him and hugs him. She thanks him for being with her and caring for her till the end. Sato then changes his mind and takes everyone else’s hands as they walk to the edge of the cliff and take their shoes off.
Suddenly one of the guys falls back and says he can’t do it. He says he keeps seeing images of his mother and how sad she would be if he died. Then the kid says he stole all his parents’ money then a bunch of thugs took it. The old man says he’ll help him find a lawyer. Senpai isn’t happy with this because she says no one cares about her especially her boyfriend. Suddenly she hears his voice at the bottom through a megaphone on the boat. He says he needs her and that he wants to marry her. She is moved and decides she wants to live too. Sato is so shocked by this he decides that he has no one now (not even senpai) and he wants to jump. Suddenly he hears Misaki’s voice and she starts crying and yelling and tells him she’s finally found someone who’s lower than her in life and she needs him. (Uh nice compliment?) Sato isn’t comforted by this but the others hold him back and Yamazaki tells him that “a dramatic death” doesn’t suit him. As they start to walk back a rock breaks and Sato falls off the cliff. He grabs hold and the rest pull him back up. He’s so scared that he begins crying and that causes Misaki to cry below as well.
Also this week we have a new ending theme. That odoru akachan ningen was getting on my nerves.
Upcoming Attractions: Sato makes friends with all his former suicide buddies.

What do you think of the new ending theme?
Wow, this show just keeps getting better and better.
理解してないとちゃんと守ってやれないからな。
w1ck: i really like it a lot better than the old one ^^;
Great writing! i still dont know how Satou took the
”finally found someone who’s lower than her in life” as a complement.
Also how can a nice girl like Misaki like a dude like Satou, its just messed up.
Good news about the new ED song. It was cool at first, but with each passing episode, but like you, it started getting on my nerves too.
a real cliffhanger (pun intended!)
Well I guess Misaki has a superiority complex and likes people worse than she is (but what she really is we won’t find out until later I guess..I havent read the manga.)
lol cliffhanger
The manga is completely different from the anime in this respect. The spirit of the situation is still the same but they changed many things. the method of suicide, how Senpai’s boyfriend propose to her, How Satou is saved, where Misaki tells Satou that she found someone lower than her. So far the anime had followed the manga to the letter, so decided to change things to make it more dramatic. In the manga the Senpai’s boyfriend never found out she tried to suicide.
Nerts, I was hoping that they’d change the OP song too. I didn’t mind the ED song so much, at least the kidults were slightly amusing.
the only thing they changed in the opening is like i think the “part” of the song is now different thats played etc
They finally changed the ED song? Thank goodness. I got pretty much turned off by the first ED on the very first time i watched it.
I’m trying to get my grubby paws on the manga volume (was it vol. 6?)which supposedly comes with the game that Yamazaki and Satou made together.
purupuru pururin~
Purupuru Pururin song.

haha oh lawd that addictive theme song!! XD
Wai~
Thank you Mimiru.
awww… an idea hit me : include a copy of the day of the sagittarius (copyright Computer Club and Yuki N.) to the Haruhi manga!
Mimiru, you just killed me. I’ve had that song stuck in my head since I started watching the show last week…the full version will destroy me…
it’s a part of conspiracy after all (the pururin song)
as for the episode, just watched the sub, I’m really worried about Misaki-chan, what in the world makes her have so low self-esteem? One good thing from that failed suicide meeting is that Satou-kun gets to know some people, and becomes a little bit better in socialization. And it seems that we’ll be having more of the suicidal friends in the next ep.
@Ewok: It has to be the meetings that presumably her mother (the obaa-san who brings her around) brings her to.
But speaking relatively, whilst most girls don’t have such an extremely low self-esteem as Misaki-chan, I’ve seen quite a fair number of girls who have low self-esteem. It’s just that they don’t reveal it that easily I suppose?
Oh well, it’s all about the inferiority complex eh. Silly conspiracy. =P
pablo:
1. he doesn’t take it as a complement.
2. misaki liking satou is explained pretty well.
and the new end theme is amazing. i have the full song, it’s so good.
