Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni - 25
What the ****?!!?
This episode just like went against everything that anyone has previously “assumed” based on clues. WTFALIENS. Okay so…Rena gives a call to Oiishi and he tells her that the night of the festival, the Takano that was there was a “zombie” because she was killed the day before. He also tells her that the Sonozakis are after Takano’s notes, and therefore are after Rena. The police is now after her too, in order to protect her from the Sonozakis. Rena is at this point like Keiichi in the first arc and trusts nobody, including Keiichi. P.S. This episode fried my brain too. I hate when Rena uses big words!
Keiichi comes looking for her in the junk yard, and runs into her there. She tells him that she’s going to change her hiding place, and she doesn’t want anybody, including him to know where she is. She also acuses Mion of turning her in because only the 5 of them knew about the bodies. Keiichi explains the reason Mion moved the body parts was because it’s a lumber mill (how ironic) and they might be discovered when people needed to cut new wood. Rena says that’s a bunch of bullshit. She goes on to say that the true indentity of the “parasite” is ALIENS. WTF. And apparently they are the ones “controlling” everyone. And when a good body comes along, they copy it and that’s why they created copies of Mion’s and Rena’s bodies. I guess this explains all that shit coming outta her body, ews
Don’t you hate when mystery stories start using stuff like cloning? Keiichi starts blubbering about how she should believe Mion and her friends. She tells him to stfu, and then she feels a vibrating in her head (it’s the aliens!)
She then proceeds to ask Keiichi why he’s been hiding stuff from her. He doesn’t know what she is talking about, and she goes on to say that she knows what he had done before he moved to Hanamizawa. She says that he used to go after little girls (omgloliconlol). He’s like “no that’s not it! …it was from time to time.” ROFFLS! She’s like “What do you mean from time to time? You were a serial attacker of little girls.” LAWL. okay I know it’s not funny but this is so WTF it’s funny. “Attacking little kids…what was so fun about that?” she proceeded. “But because it was fun you continued to do it right? But your parents couldn’t take it anymore so together with your parents you surrendered. And because your dad’s rich, all the court cases were totally settled and in the meantime you’re on probation. And when all the dust was settled, you moved and everything was forgiven. Rich people really have it well don’t they!” She asks why Keiichi has never told her this before, and she then tells him that he isn’t her friend at all. She grabs her cleaver and walks away leaving a crying Keiichi.
The next day Keiichi tells Mion, Satoko & Rika about what he used to do with the little girls because he feels that friends shouldn’t keep secrets. Mion tells him that if friends can’t have a few secrets between each other, then she doesn’t want any. Ciel sensei takes Satoko & Mion’s attention away while Keiichi is left with Rika. Rika then gets into her emo mode with the creepy voice and tells Keiichi that he has great strength she can feel. He also recalls him killing Mion & Rena from episode 4 (I guess they are clones after all ^^;). In the flashback, what looked like a syringe was actually a magic marker, and there were no needles in the riceballs…thus proving that Keiichi really was hallucinating. Also right before he killed Rena, she stretched her arms out to him attempting to save him, but he beat her down anyway. When Mion comes back, Keiichi grabs and hugs her crying and saying he’s sorry. I guess the clone Mion has no memory of the real Mion. (Bad aliens!)
Afterwards, Oiishi and 2 of his men go to see Mion’s mom. They want to know where Rena is and they say if they find her that they want custody of her. Mion’s mom asks why, and Oiishi says “To protect her from you. We know you’re after her and the notes.” However, this guy with sunglasses, opens a suitcase which contains all of Takano’s notes. Mion’s mom also explains that the cops misunderstanding that they are after Rena is a mistake on their part. This confuses the hell outta Oiishi and he goes outside smoking his cigarette in anger that his clue has been shot down. The other 2 cops then ask Mion’s mom to hand over the notes to the cops if something happens, and if Rena is found to hand her over to the cops. She agrees and the end of the episode shows Rena walking down the street with her cleaver.
Upcoming Attractions: Rena goes berserker and has a glorious battle with Keiichi. (or so I read on some forum somewhere :))

Well, that was extremely random. Aliens? Okay, there must be some more closure to this. Hopefully, the alien part will be elaborated on more.
Keiichi, a pedophile? That made me laugh. Maybe that is why he got so attached to Satoko in the Tatori-whatever arc.
How can a series be so absurd and awesome at the same time?!
I guess it was presented somewhat confusingly, but all that stuff about aliens, clones, and whatnot… was all nonsense in Takano’s notebooks that Rena just blindly believed. None of it is actually true.
Lydia: Yea thats what I thought lol lolicon!
Mayu: I dunno the awesomeness level kinda went down for me after this ep
Rift: I’d totally say that’s true but then how would that explain Keiichi remembering killing Rena and Mioin? Or was that also part of his illusions?
Hmmm, Rena’s ranting about aliens and other stuff might not be believed in her insanity. Also K1 remembering things he’s never done, other things his “clone” might have done is something very similar to something that’s been hinted at elsewhere.
I just remember in Watanagashi Oiishi was like “there’s a lot of dead bodies walking around”
Aliens! LOL! For the love of god, I hope Rena is very much wrong about these aliens. She probably is since the REAL answers to the mystery are apparently to be found in the next arc of the game which sadly will not be animated. There is obviously a connection between the different arcs, apart from the same characters and setting, so Keiichi remembering what he has done in another arc does make some sense, especially if one follows the tips to the game. Maybe Oyashiro-sama resets things in the beginnig of each arc. At least it makes more sense than the clones of Rena and Mion.
The flashback from Onikakushi was powerful, albeit not too surprising - everyone and his dog already had assumed Keiichi had been hallucinating back then.
The Sonozakis have the notes of Takano? Now that’s something I did not expect. Takano and her motives are elusive as an eel…
Keiichi remembering Onikakushi is a little strange, and requires some suspension of belief. Note that Rika also seems to be aware of the events of Onikakushi, and basically says that it’s a miracle that Keiichi has been able to remember somehow.
Keiichi himself, after remembering, says that those events took place in a different world. This is more or less true… somehow, he’s gained memories of what an alternate him did in another reality.
Unfortunately, the reasons behind this are explained in the final two arcs, which go into Rika’s powers and the true villain behind all of Higurashi. Without those two arcs… you basically just have to accept that Keiichi magically somehow remembered what happened in Onikakushi.
Takano’s theories in her notebook are basically a big joke, meant to throw people off. There have been some hints of this, but I suppose it’s very unclear for people who haven’t played the game. But rest assured, there are no aliens or zombies in the story… although there are plenty of supernatural elements.
As Hanyuu would say… au au au au au au au.
Haven’t seen the episode myself yet, but seemingly Studio Deen dropped the ball again in explaining Keiichi’s troubled past.
Part that was cut off from the anime (Keiichi telling his guilt to Mion, Rika, and Satoko):
Keiichi was found to be a child prodigy. Hence, he went to a special school in which he excelled at as well. However, kids hated him for being too smart and they started bullying him. Keiichi then threw his anger and stress towards people who were weaker than him - by shooting at little girls with his BB gun. Unfortunately one day, Keiichi shot a girl in the eye which almost caused her to go blind. Feelings of guilt finally went through him and he turned himself in along with his parents.
Part that was shown in the anime (Rena pounding Keiichi with guilt):
Japanese law has certain aspects of protecting minors from public incrimination, so Keiichi basically got away scot-free. His dad also happened to be fairly rich so his family was able to pay off the damages out-of-court. As Rena taunted to Keiichi: “Yeah, isn’t it nice that you have a rich dad? You got away scot-free, and you moved away to start a new life. Ha!”
Morale of story:
From Rena’s point of view, Keiichi looks like he was just a spoiled brat who went around shooting at people weaker than him for fun. From Keiichi’s point of view, Keiichi direly repented what he had done. From one sided view, you only get a one-sided story skewing a person’s perspective.
Now getting back to Onikakushi-hen, Oishi told Keiichi that Rena used to go around breaking windows in her old school. That’s just a one sided story. If Rena would told you the reason why she did that…then you get a totally different perspective on Rena.
I liked the way they tied Keiichi’s pedophile-ness to Rena’s berserk nature. One should never fool around with killer lolis…
Why do I get this lingering feeling that suzumiya haruhi is going to pop up in the last episode, re-format the world again and comment that this is the actual season 2 of ‘Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu’, with aliens and all.
*shudders*
But considering how the last few episodes turned out, that wouldn’t be unexpected.
And this kinda shattered my assumption that nothing here is supernatural. Damn…they better round it up good next week.
Man I love when all you game players come here and tell me stuff the anime missed
Matrim: Yep so it seems which makes me wonder how the anime staff plans to conclude the whole thing.
Rift: I noticed that throughout the show, they totally skip stuff and give us anime viewers/non game players a different view/assumption on what is actually going on.
kj: thank for pointing out the difference. that reall y DOES put a spin on things regarding Keiichi. And you’re right, Oiishi is twisting stuff to both Rena & Keiichi regarding their pasts so I guess I could totally see why they’d be suspicious of each other.
Yyi: LOL oh noez Haruhi! XD Yea I read a few animesuki threads a few eps ago and they were posting stuff regarding the final arc. I still don’t know the exact ending but I remembered it involved some demonic looking girl thing in a miko outfit.
I don’t know if Studio DEEN plans the anime to have any real closure at all. They have just concentrated on the thriller and horror elements, if I hadn’t read info from the game, I think I’d have been totally lost as far as solving the mystery goes (not that I am not kind of lost even now). If there is no OVA, their portrayal of the mystery is basically the same as someone filming an Agatha Christie detective novel who leaves out half of the clues and ends it with Poirot saying “And now ladies ang gentlemen, I can tell you who the real murderer…but I won’t because the budget for the film and its length won’t allow me”.
I need as new keyboard after reading about Keiichi. I spit out my coffee as I laughed at that revelation. That does explain a few reactions from some earlier episodes
Well… I don’t know what to say… o_O
Joey: When I heard the word “aliens” I was like…WHAT THE #$@$@$@?! lol
Matrim: they might make something up or they might leave it as to “go buy the game kthbye”
Keiichi’s a PEDO?! Wtf, no! I refuse to believe that! ;_; Argh, I need subs!
*looks at 4th screencap.
Excuse me while I go strafe Keiichi from space… … … IN MY X-WING. WITH ROCKING GUITAR SOLOS.
ok, hinano, u lost me after the alien and clone part.
Ok >_>
