NHK ni Youkoso! - 10
This is what happens when you take advice from household appliances.
Sato is like totally in love with Misaki and can’t stop thinking about her. He regrets not buying anything for her at the festival and imagines buying her cotton candy and then kissing her. He quickly exits from his dreamland and beats his head against the wall. Even when writing the scenario for their game, he changes the girl’s name from Rei to Misaki and almost destroys Yamazaki’s laptop in the process (from going crazy).
During counseling all he can do is just stare at her. He even looks forward to counseling so much that he comes early enough to see her feeding a cat. He accidentally says mean stuff like “The cat won’t remember you anyway” but she says “as long as it remembers me while I’m feeding it, that’s good enough.” Aww ;_;. So during counseling Misaki places part of her hair behind her ear which causes Sato to blush and stare at her. She ends the session and asks if he was listening, and he jokingly says “What if I said no? Would you read it to me again?”
Sato goes home that night and has an imagination that he and Misaki get married. However, he quickly realizes he knows nothing about her yet she knows everything about him. He imagines her as this demon girl who’s tricking him so that he’ll be even more of a hikkikomori than he already is. The next day Yamazaki leaves to go on a date, but he comes back piss drunk and starts saying stuff how women will just fool you, because apparently the girl who asked him to see a movie was also there with another guy that she claims to have “accidentally run into”.
That night Sato has his household appliances telling him that Misaki is just trying to trick him, and the more he sees he the more he’ll be in love with her. They tell him the best thing to do is to not see her, therefore not be in love with her, and therefore never get hurt. For some stupid reason (well it’s pretty typical of him I guess), he takes their advice
and the next night he comes to counseling and says he’s not doing it anymore. Misaki asks if it’s because he’s too busy with the game creating, and he just says “I never want to seer face again” and runs off…leaving a shocked Misaki sitting alone on the bench with the cat.
Upcoming Attractions: Sato plans to stop being a hikkikomori??

From this episode, to me it seems like the relationship b/w Misaki and Sato is kind of like Kaoru’s and Koji’s in Taiyou no Uta. It seems like Misaki has a strict life with her aunt (?) where she has to go on boring religious meetings and stuff and that she can’t have any friends. Her only form of “entertainment” is the funny guy who lives in his apartment directly below her house, whom she could see everyday from her window. She likes him, so much that she knows his daily routine by heart, but she can only see him from afar, until one day, they actually meet!
Sato, like Koji, is stuck in a rut, blew a possible relationship with a childhood friend, and is kind of intrigued by this new girl.
These stories have so much in common that if you play the song “Stay With Me” by Kaoru Amane (Erika Sawajiri), and think of NHK, it fits about as well as with Taiyou no Uta.
The story can still go either way right now, but I’m hoping Sato runs back to Misaki.
Looks like a major divergence from the manga… also looks like it’s the beginning of the end of the series? I was hoping for at least 24 eps but it seems likely there’ll only be a couple more. Then again, they can easily continue it… it’s just the placement of the episode which takes it in a different direction to the manga is right at the end of the season.
I’m hoping for an ending where an ending where Satou realises there’s nothing wrong with his feelings for Misaki and they go on a proper date which ends with a goodnight kiss or something. Also, I hope he gets his act together, stops doing drugs and makes a start on ending his current lifestyle.
TG3: XD wow you’re so cool comparing dorama to anime. but yea you’re right lol disease fact aside, the two are very similar. W00t I wanna see them kiss for real now (not in saito’s imagination or interrupted by yamazaki’s phone call xDDDD)
Mark: Someone told me it was supposed to be 24, but you’re right, it does seem like the beginning of the end o_o. MAybe it’s 13 after all? Yea I hope he stops taking drugs too, those talking appliances are giving me weird Disney nostalgia
