Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni - 21

Published by Hinano at 6:05 pm under Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni

Looks like MION really was behind it all! I knew that bitch was a demon! Passion of the Satoko Okay so after Rika is dead, Shion now has Satoko to torture…or kill actually. This is in complete disagreement with Tatarigoroshi, but moving on. Shion just goes on and on about how it’s Satoko’s fault that Satoshi was killed and how she’s always crying for her “ni-ni”. She proceeds to stab her in the wrists (ala christening style) and Satoko says she doesn’t care and when Satoshi comes back (she actually believes he’ll come back…from the dead?) Shion proceeds to stab her (despite pleas and appologies from Mion) until eventually she stabs her elsewhere and Satoko dies. She then recalls a promise she made to Satoshi to look after Satoko and starts crying (but it looks like she’s breaking water :lol:) that she broke his only promise.

Note - Shion is the one in the dress now, and Mion in the yukata After that we see some repeated footage from Watanagashi-hen where Shion shakes the ladder Keiichi is on saying everyone is cursed. Then to herself she says that now she killed the “inheritor of Oyashiro-sama” so there is nobody to control the destiny of anyone’s lives except for her (or so she thinks). She takes Keiichi to the torture chamber, puts him on that thing and tries to do the nail thing but it turns out she never nailed him. She just tazered him because the cops were coming. She then releases Mion and tells her to switch clothes. She then takes her to the edge of the cliff and forces her to appologize to Satoshi. Mion says that he’s not down there because she was in love with him too and she begged her grandma not to kill him and that the onibaba forgave Shion and that no one knows who killed him. Shion is shocked at first then she’s like “you’re so fulla shit” and she tazers Mion and pushes her off the cliff.

That's what you get for climbing hospital walls So anyway after Shion gets taken to the hospital, she puts back on Mion’s clothes..and she starts like seeing imagery of hands trying to grab her so she runs out of the hospital…and that’s when she runs into Keiichi and stabs him. She then screams “How do you like that Satoshi!” She then runs off and tries to climb back up to her room in the hospital. Unfortunately, her shirt gets caught on the wall and tears which throws her off balance and she falls to her doom.

Final Conclusions:

・So looks like the one who fell from the balcony was Shion, not Mion.
・The one who came back at the end in the yukata was indeed Mion. I rewatched that scene again and she said “I though I got everyone that time, but I guess NOT”. She has the blood on her head from when Shion pushed her off the cliff and she’s in the yukata that Shion made her wear. My conclusion is that Mion knew that Shion was gonna go nuts and kill everyone so she just sat back and let her do all the work. She probably had plans to eventually kill Shion herself but instead Shion kinda took care of that problem for her by falling off the balcony.
・ I also noted that Oiishi seemed like he knew wtf was goin on so he was telling Keiichi “Mion is still missing” and “Shion fell off the balcony” despite the fact that Shion was dressed like Mion. Here’s what doesn’t make sense though. In this episode when Shion fell off the balcony, she was wearing Mion’s clothes…but in the Watanagashi episode, if you rewatch the end, you see Shion’s dead body, and she’s still in that “undergarment”. Probably an animation goof ;).

Stuff that I’m still wondering about:

・Where’s Rena? And what does she have to do with Satoshi?
・Who’s the lilac hair dude in the preview of the first ep of the next arc!
・How are they gonna connect the tatarigoroshi and watanagashi arcs is beyond me.
・I think theyre supposed to have a happy ending in the next arc because I guess they couldn’t animate the final story in time because it came out this month.

    I’m confused as to how Mion could possibly be the evil one who kills Keiichi in the hospital after all this unless she became sick like Shion and Keiichi by being thrust in a cell and went insane. Or Keiichi killed himself in the hospital in Watanagashi-hen because of growing insanity and paranoia. But that doesn’t explain as to why Mion/Shion in that scene was wearing the yukata Shion made Mion wear. Of course the tips for Tatarigoroshi-hen say that after the gas incident all of the survivors killed themselves so maybe a similar event occured in Watanagashi-hen occured in Tatarigoroshi-hen like Rika dying which leads citizens of Hinamizawa to kill themselves. I hope that was coherent.

    *scratches head* I’m still trying to figure out what exactly your question is XD;;
    Mion/Onibaba were in on it together is what I’ve concluded, hence why she let Shion kill everyone and since Keiichi went into Oyashiro’s temple he had to die too. When Shion stabbed him in front of the hospital, he didn’t die, and that’s probably why Mion came back to “finish the job”. I don’t think Keiichi killed himself at all, it was definitely Mion in the yukata. Its like I siad, thats why she had blood on her head, from falling off areally tall cliff. The only bizarro thing is how the hell she survived the fall is beyond me :P

    Tatarigoroshi and Meakashi are the most messed up chapter by anime staff.
    Many pathetic nuances were skipped, besides extremely important settings were omitted.
    (These include some things that cause contradiction to Minagoroshi and Matsuribayashi.)

    As a game fan, I am crying because of anger…
    I was hoping that they caught at least 10% of fun of the game.

    Tsumihoroboshi is the longest scenario of 6 chapters in the game.
    And most of this chapter is composed of psychological description.
    But anime assigns this chapter only 5 episodes.
    And it is obvious that anime staff can’t describe any “mind” well.
    Honestly I can hardly believe this chapter will be good…

    Wait, wasn’t Mion in the well? I’m getting confused.

    And well, unless Mion has superhuman regenerative abilities, there’s no way she would have survived a fall. Or be able to walk after falling from that height. If the whole demonblood theory is true though, well… …

    I sense contiunity errors. Lots of them.

    drm is right, if the little scene at the hospital of K1 getting pwned is real then something is really wrong

    In any case that episode wasn’t the least bit scary. Mion simply ran out of hands to grab k1, secure him, position the nail, and hammer down. rofl.

    loki> I’ve not played the game but I did hear they skipped out a few things. Have you read the manga? Is that any different? I haven’t had a chance to start on it but I wonder if they will differentiate it from the anime.

    Drm> Yes the “well” where Shion said Satoshi was “dropped”. Yea thats what I said, like unless the demon thing IS alive in her (which is why I thought she was the one behind it all), then she couldn’t have survived. However I recall from Watanagashi, Oiishi said “There’s a lot of dead-bodies walking around lately”.

    Hel> It could be his imagination, but as I said above, with the “dead bodies walking around” it could have actually happened…but I’m confused now because it doesn’t work with “tatarigoroshi” and as I mentioned with the “mion outfit” vs the “nightgown” thing that the animation team messed up on.

    Who ever said that the hospital scene where Mion kills Kei was REAL?

    Remember the info from Onikakushi-hen: What you see…may not be true.

    Uh, my reaction for the Satoko scene: Ow.

    Satoko truly believes that Satoshi ran away. At the beginning of the Tsumihoroboshi arc, they show Satoshi’s corpse totally mutilated. It displays evidence that Rena, Rika, and Mion were involved. That is, if you look at the wounds and relate them to their corresponding characters.

    What if Satoshi DID run away, but was discovered by Rena, Rika, and Mion? Or he could have been inflicted with death-causing wounds and then thrown into the well. This would explain why he was floating in the water.

    Hm. =_=;

    If you want the answers, the gameplayers on Animesuki forum for Higurashi ep 21 have started revealing what really happened between the 2 eps. They’re also pretty pissed that the anime has cut out a lot of stuff. That’s why I have to say the anime has dropped a lot of points in score for me, just because of what they decided not to show.

  10. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 23 Aug 2006 at 4:53 pm

    kj> Yea thats why i said in my previous comment, that is also a possibility.

    Lydia> Wait how was Rena involved? you mean the gutting? I know the nails was the Mion thing and Satoko coulda needled him (I couldn’t tell i didn’t rewatch that nastyness XD) Maybe he did run away and got killed etc. I kept thinking that cliff that shion thought Satoshi was down in, is where they threw his body and like the bottom of the cliff floats over to where his body was found.

    Fubared> I think I’m gonna just keep watching the anime with the “what you don’t know cant hurt you” in mind. Most likely if I read the forums, I will probably be just as pissed as the others and it’ll ruin the show for me :P

    I just watched the gutted Satoshi scene. You’re right, there were no signs of Rena-ness on his corpse. I found something funny on his body, though. If you look at the part where it shows his stomach, there is a red star on it. He has a red star on his stomach. What the hell? XD;

  12. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 23 Aug 2006 at 11:26 pm

    Yea I do recall the star thing
    I don’t get it o_O Lol
    Maybe it’ll be revealed later on…just like how with the Rika knife stab thing we had no idea wtf but then we found out what was happening…so maybe we’ll find out how Satoshi actually died?

  13. YyiNo Gravatar SINGAPOREon 27 Aug 2006 at 6:53 am

    I think the only adjectives I can find to describe this arc finale would be ‘messed up’ and ‘rushed’.

    >>The only bizarro thing is how the hell she survived the fall is beyond me.

    Shion dumped too many dead bodies into the well. That’s one possibility how Mion survived the fall. Corpses make excellent shock adsorbers.

    Satoshi’s remains appear to be a work of art. I’m thinking that there was more than one person involved. The red star (which looks like its on his chest, not stomach since he was already gutted) is probably a trademark death symbol. There’s a possibility that Rika was behind it too though, since she is able to perform watanagashi.

    Anyway, the part where Shion ‘broke water’ cracked me up. It seemed as if she was having an orgasm…I can’t take Shion seriously anymore after this episode.

  14. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 27 Aug 2006 at 9:33 am

    Yea that was weird I was like….is she crying or having a baby? :lol:
    And thats a good point about the bodies, perhaps that’s how she survived lol.

    Yea I remember seeing the star on Satoshi but I don’t know why. I gruesomely recalled the guts and the nails in hand. The nails were a giveaway for Mion, but it’s the star that sorta had me confused but perhaps you’re right it was Rika.

    I know this is an old post, but I just saw this episode subtitled. I am still unsure on who killed Keiichi in the hospital. It could have been a hallucination, though. I found something interesting on one of the AnimeSuki forums too. It is confusing too, so you may want to re-read some parts.

    SPOILER

    Shion was actually born as Mion, and Mion was born as Shion.

    Since “Mion” (that is, the Shion that we know) is the rightful heir to the Sonozaki family, she was favored over “Shion” (the Mion that we know) ever since they were little.

    “Mion” and “Shion” disliked the different treatments they got: they’re the same person, so why should one be treated different from the other?

    That’s why they began swapping identities so they could both enjoy the privileges that “Mion” has. Sometimes Mion would become Shion, and Shion would become Mion. In a way, both of them are Mion, and both of them are Shion.

    However, one day, while “Shion” was pretending to be Mion, she was taken away and was given the demon tattoo which marked her as the next head of the Sonozaki family.

    … Starting from that day, “Shion” lost her identity as Shion, and became Mion. “Mion” lost her identity as Mion, and became Shion.

    That’s why Mion has always felt bad towards Shion for stealing her identity, because it was Shion (the original Mion) who should’ve been chosen as the next head of the Sonozaki family, not her.

    When Shion locked Mion up inside the underground jail cell, they finally reverted back to their original identities, hence the “onee” from Mion.

    You can also see Shion referring to Mion as “Shion” in the final TIPs as well.

    Now you know the true meanings behind Mion and Shion’s coversation inside the library!

    END SPOLER

    I found that quite interesting. It is too bad that they left it out. D;

    oh wow i was actually looking around the forums but i was too lazy to find the thread but I guess you found it for me.

    wow that like
    solved a lot of questions that the anime didn’t cover. no wonder all the game players were mad. I at least wanted to know what was up with the demon tattoo.

    I guess that explains when Shion was like “I don’t even know who I am anymore”.

    I’m gonna have to rewatch that library scene again :P
