Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni - 20

Published by Hinano at 7:04 pm under Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni

Go Shion Go Shion Go! I'm just pretending that this lollipop is actually Satoshi's.... So the Shion ass whooping continues (you all go to hell and you die! literally). This really solves a lot of my questions from the Watanagashi arc. It begins with Shion being on the phone with Keiichi confusing the hell out of him. The funny part is when she hung up, she goes “Damn he’s so annoying”. When we saw it in Watanagashi we thought she hung up because something bad had happened. Well on to the spoilers.

USO DA!! (Stop trying to copy Rena) Shion traps the old man from the last episode and ties his neck to a chain so that when she turns the crank it lifts him by his neck to almost choking him. She lets him go so he can spill the beans about what happened to Satoshi (Clearly the center for all of this madness ;)) She goes “So you know he’s dead but you don’t know where the body is.” The old man says it’s probably there and points to the cage thing. Shion goes in there and its apparently a dark pit that I guess leads to that river where Satoshi’s dead body was found in Tatarigoroshihen. There Shion has a spiritual moment with Satoshi’s spirit and says she’s coming with him..but his “spirit” tells her to live on. She angrily walks over to where Mion is trapped in the cage thing, and she says screams at Mion that she could have protected Satoshi from complete death but she did not do so. This scares the crap outta Mion of course.

Bitch don't gimme that Oyashiro-sama is a good god shit! So the next day at school while everyone’s in the classroom, Mion goes out back with Rika to settle some beef. She says that 2 people died and 2 more have to pay (referring to “Shion” and Keiichi.) Rika says that not necessarily. Mion starts babbling “Well what about Oyashiro-sama and paying with your life” (since she had to pay, Satoshi had to pay etc). Rika says that inside Oyashiro’s temple are a bunch of torture devices, and they are unpleasant to look at. Anyone who goes inside will get scared that’s why they don’t want anyone going inside. Rika then goes on to say that if the people “regret” for going inside, then Oyashiro-sama will forgive them. Mion says that’s a load of horse crap and “what are you able to communicate with Oyashiro-sama or something?” And Rika claims yes she can because she is the shrine maiden. Shion gets pissed and bitchslaps Rika to the ground.

Let's get ready to RUMBLE! So that night Rika comes over with that sauce bottle or whatever the hell shouyu is. Shion is confused on why and says she probably has some extra for her. When they go into the room with the extra, while Shion is getting it from under a floorboard, Rika attacks her and sprays her with what I think is tear gas? (Or something that hurts your eyes temporarily) Anyway, Shion gets back into battle mode (because she was paranoid the whole time anyway). Rika jumps on Shion and tries to inject her with the crap from episode 4 (whatever that was), but since Shion is obviously bigger/stronger she pushes her off and tazers her. While Rika is temporarily unable to move, Shion grabs the needle, and injects Rika with it saying “We can test out what your injection was gonna do on YOUR Body!” You can't kill me! I'm comitting suicide! Whatever it does it causes Rika to get all wobbly but she manages to grab a kitchen knife from somewhere. Shion thinks Rika is gonna attack her with it, and says that she’ll kill her too. Rika however says she doesn’t care if she dies, but she’d rather kill herself than be killed by Shion. With that, she leans her hand against the wall and proceeds to stab her head against the knife (as seen in the first ep of Watanagashi arc.) Well now that mystery has been solved, I always wondered “What happened to that scene?” Anyway after Rika dies, Shion coves her up with some newspapers and Satoko calls. Shion invites her “for dinner” and says “Rika is already eating”.

Upcoming Attractions: Rain of blood (well that’s what the preview was…it was like raining CHI kanjis XD). Satoko cries and stuff because maybe she finds the dead Rika (like in Tatarigoroshi?). I’m still a bit confused on how the answer arcs are gonna progress.

As I thought, it will probably end the same as Watanagashi… I think this answer arc is really just to explain what was actually going on.

I believe I read on the wiki article that the next arc will supposedly have a happy ending.

So that’s what causes them to claw their throats out. It is an injection. When Shion asked Mion in the previous episode about what she used to kill Satoshi, Shion mentioned an injection. I think that is what happened to Keiichi in the Onikakushi arc.

I had a feeling Keiichi did get injected in the Onikakushi arc, though they never show him getting injected when Rena and Mion/Shion were harassing him. It just cuts to the scene where he is beating them with a baseball bat.

This series is fun to watch. I like coming up with theories and crap. XD Jeez, this answer arc is long. ^^; Or maybe they are intertwining all of the answer arcs together.

Were> Yea I read a while ago that this was gonna be the same as Watanagashi arc but not from Keiichi\’s POV so yea it\’s good that it explained a few things. THe next arc is supposed to be like the first one but from Rena\’s POV…but happy ending should we assume Keiichi doesn\’t die? XD

Lydia> The thing is, Rika didn\’t claw her throat out. She like stabbed herself in the head with a knife lol. Yea I thought they might be intertwining the arcs together because this arc is what now like 5 eps long? I think the injection is like…it eventually just kills you but perhaps Keiichi felt like he was choking so thats why he clawed his throat out. Who knows, there\’s been no detail given so we can only assume ^^

I’ve not read the visual novel yet, but here’s my theory

I think the doctor is involved in this whole curse thing, since he’s the one with full access to the drugs in the town. Where else do you obtain drugs in that year? But why he died/suicided in Tatarigoroshi…that i’m not too sure.

And Shion could have been injected with it long ago, probably a weaker version, since her killing spree had only been triggered by Satoshi’s disappearance (though we never really got to see him die). I’m not really able to accept the concept of ‘demonic blood’ just yet.

These are just my assumptions…I hope they aren’t potential spoilers.

    >”I had a feeling Keiichi did get injected in the Onikakushi arc, though they never show him getting injected when Rena and Mion/Shion were harassing him. It just cuts to the scene where he is beating them with a baseball bat.”

Actually, they did show him being injected. I think you watched a censored version of ep4 since the initial beatings were quite stomach-churning.

And Rika really looks like a druggie in the last picture. Freaky…

She had that creepy voice goin on in that picture too btw.

I don’t recall seeing him get injected but I thought that he got injected anyway and thats why he went crazy and killed them or something. Although that was probably Rena & Mion, not Shion. I don’t know what Shion has to do with it, she killed Keiichi in the hospital or whatever.

  6. LydiaNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 16 Aug 2006 at 6:19 pm

I do not believe I saw a censored version. The scene showed Rena and Mion holding the injection to his arm, but they never show the needle being inserted into his skin. If they did, I probably would have freaked due to my excessive phobia of needles. Ha ha, even an animated version of an injection creeps the hell out of me.

Another one of my theories is that Oiishi is somehow involved. I mean, he acted as if he knew why Shion had her nails torn out.

In the Watanagashi arc, they show him (Oiishi) walking out of the hospital room that Keiichi was in. I mean, wouldn’t any normal person turn around if they heard screams and crazy blood action going on in Keiichi’s room? Maybe he did turn around, and they just did not show it.

Maybe it was Oiishi that pushed Mion out of the window, mistaking her for Shion. I do not know, I am just getting weird vibes from Oiishi.

  7. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 16 Aug 2006 at 6:34 pm

Mion was pushed out of the window? I don’t remember lol (thats what happens whne you watch like 17 things a week!)

I agree Oiishi is definitely involved but I’m not sure if in a negative way, only deriving this from the Himatsubushi arc he didn’t seem like the kind of dude who’d wanna cause murders (either that or he’s a hypocritical fat old guy)

  8. LydiaNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 16 Aug 2006 at 6:37 pm

Well, Shion was pushed out of the window, but I think it was Mion forced to dress like Shion. Because Keiichi gets nailed at the end, but I think that is Shion dressed like Mion.

Eh, enough with the twin switching already. So confusing.

  9. DrmChsr0No Gravatar SINGAPOREon 16 Aug 2006 at 6:51 pm

    Now I’m confused.

I thought Shion was the one who went out the window.

Wasn’t Mion dead already? I’m getting all confused.

  10. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 16 Aug 2006 at 7:26 pm

Ok I just rewatched episode 8 (well that scene)
Yea it was Mion pushed outta the window because Mion was the one wearing that night gown thing and the one that was trapped in a cage (that I assumed they rescued when the cops came.)

My theory is, Shion disappeared after she tried to nail Keiichi or whatever. They rescued Mion and put her into the hospital. Shion came back and pushed her out the window. She then dressed as Mion and came back to find (and once again stab) Keiichi and then she ran off again. And ONCE MORE came back to nail Keiichi part 2 in the hospital.

I noticed how she kept \”disappearing\” but we never found out to \”where\”. I just rewatched it and Keiichi was \”So you still can\’t find Mion( which is actually Shion)?\” and Oiishi goes \”YEs thats what I came to tell you.\” It all makes sense now. They will probably show it in the next episode.

I just watched this episode on youtube (chinese translated), and I have to say that it’s heartwarming to see this anime stepping up a notch. Loved the fight scene. It’s nice to see someone unexpected (Rika) going emo.

Oiishi seems to be a prime suspect too. How else would Shion have known of Keiichi’s location so quickly and sneak into the hospital undiscovered? (not to mention with a nail and a hammer. Man, they really have to step with the security.) I’m thinking that it’s an insider job.

Not considering supernatural means, of course.

I rewatched episode 4. My mistake, they did show the injection at his arm but never being inserted into his body, so I merely assumed the worst. And about animated injections, u’ll probably fear them after watching ep20 since Shion did a rather forced jab into Rika’s arm. Ouch.

Anyway, during episode 4, I noticed that Mion n Rena mentioned that Keiichi should meet the manager of the baseball league before they injected him with the drug.

Baseball manager = Dr Irie = Keeper of Drugs.
I’m still counting on the notion that he is the true mastermind.

  13. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 17 Aug 2006 at 4:38 pm

    haha “the final enemy” XD
    Yea I did remember when I first saw they were like “you have to meet the Kantoku!” and im like why are they calling him a baseball coach when he’s a doctor, but that was solved during tatarigoroshi XD;

Yea I was gonna say in the most recent up she like shoved it right into Rika’s arm lmao.

I dunno I think Shion is awesome for rebelling against the whole “kill all those who oopose the giant torture buddha” tradition. Rebels are cool sometimes. ;)
