Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - 17
Shion’s coolness just went up & Mion’s went to hell. 
It’s time for the all (in)famous Watanagashi festival. As we discovered in Tatarigoroshi, Satoshi called up “Mion” (which he ended up talking to Shion) and asked her to take care of Satoko at the festival for him. She asked why he wasn’t coming, and he said because he “had some matters to take care of”. Of course, those matters were to kill his aunt.
The next day the cops ask Satoshi where he was last night and Shion reveals herself as Mion’s twin sister and says that she was with him the whole time during the festival. She appologizes to Satoshi for lying, but Satoshi says that he thought sometimes the conversations between him & Mion were “strange” and he sorta had an idea something was different. They go together into a store to buy a teddy bear because Satoko’s birthday is coming up and Satoshi has been saving up his pennies.
Mion is confronted by some dudes and taken in a limo to Oyashiro’s torture chamber. She hears that her limo driver (the guy who was taking care of her) is missing. At the champer is her parents, and the old bag. She yells at Shion for being a traitor to the Sonozaki’s by defending “That damn Houjo”. Shion goes on saying that she doesn’t give a rat’s ass about Sonozaki, or Hanamizawa or any of their bullshit customs. She proclaims that she’s in love with Satoshi and says that there’s no reason for her to “not love” someone because of all that crap. Mion, who is the executioner tells her that her employer, her limo driver and Satoshi will all be killed because of her rudeness. She tells her to appologize and atone for her sins. After hearing that Satoshi might be hurt, Shion gets on her knees in tears and appologizes…but she still has to face torturous punishment. In this case, she has to stick her finger into this contraption which basically rips your nails out in one pull. (Just thinking about this makes me queezy ^^;) She has to do it on 3 of her fingers, 1 for each person…
She fails on the 2nd attempt and then starts crying and telling Mion that it hurts but Mion just tells her that its only a little bit left. After protesting they blindfold her and some guy does it for her. The next day we see Shion throwing up in the bathroom and her hand is bandaged up. The 3 people who she “atoned” for were returned safely and as she is walking through the town Oishi asks her to come to the police station. Shion says that she’s already been an aliby for Satoshi but he tells her that there’s another matter at hand. Apparently Satoshi went out last night and never returned…

Oh god, I think I just puked in my mind. A device that rips off your fingernails? Oh, crap. Someone did artwork of all of the devices used in Higurashi. Now I know what the last device was. It was the fingernail thing. D;
Oh really? I at first thought they were gonna make her like hammer nails into her fingers because of the arm strap….then when she put her hand in I thought it was gonna chop her finger OFF..but then after it happened they showed like a bloody nail fly off ^^; blah it was rather sickening and made me hate Mion + all the other Sonozaki dickheads even more.
Eww… Nails flying off… That’s like ouch~ Reminds me of the time mine went flying. >.
Rofl well sometimes my nails may chip off but like thats ripping the WHOLE NAIL from the root @_@ that hurts @_@;; I’m really lookin fwd to next week when Shion beats them all XD
Don’t see what makes Mion less likable after this episode, sure she seemed cold, but if she didn’t put up the cold/oni exterior in front of her masterminding grandma and get Shion to recieve the “easiest” and least painful punishment she could, Shion would have had a lot worse to go through. If Mion didn’t act cold, Mion would get in trouble for been to sweet on her sister, and both of them may have gotten a worse punishment together, even.
Of course to the viewers and Shion this makes Mion look bad, and is probably what leads to a dislike of all Sonozaki in Watanagashi, for Shion.
Mion is still number one for me, and Shion is still doing very well at keeping her place at number two.
I agree with you that Mion didn’t wanna oppose the old bag either
But I dunno I have this hopefulness in me that maybe theyd like arm together and be the uber twins or something and like kick everyone’s asses XD

Aaa….I’ve dreaded the use of that contraption ever since the weapon series came out. The thought of it makes me automatically cover my fingernails…just..eww…
I’m still freaked out, my fingers feel all shaky just thinking about it. Where is this weapons series you’re talking about? Can you give a link. *Covers nails* Ehhhhhhhh…. *Hides*
