Drama no. 3 that I will be watching this season. Last “uta” drama I saw was “Ai no Uta” haha..the irony. Okay so this is the typical Japanese drama where someone has an incurable disease and they try their best to live through it, and in the meantime some other person comes and falls in love with them. One Liter of Tears deja vu yea I know. The only difference is this drama doesn’t start us of as “The character is dead so we’re going back in time” or anything. The protagonist of the show, Kaoru, has a disease called XP (Xeroderma pigmentosum) in which she cannot be in bright light or her skin starts to fry literally.

Kaoru usually goes out at night and plays her guitar like a street musician. She’s been constantly trying to get a debut single out, but the companies keep rejecting her saying “Do you even know what it feels like to love someone?” The reason she began the whole guitar playing deal, is 3 year prior she saw from a window a guy dropping his guitar off near the trash dump. She picked it up and started practicing on her own. She typically does this at night and sleeps during the day.

Her friend eventually meets this guy at the beach who is friends with the guy whose guitar she picked up. The guy played by Yamada Takayuki (name to be announced later..) tries to ignore her and doesn’t want to admit that the guitar was his. He gets fired from his job, and when they are talking on the beach he says that he has no dreams and he doesn’t care if he dies tomorrow. Kaoru gets pissed and tells him that “Why don’t you go kill yourself right now, I’ll watch.” He asks if she’s so smart why doesn’t she try to debut her single and she says she really wants to and that he doesn’t understand anything.

One night when Kaoru is playing her guitar in her usual spot, a bunch of guys start to harass her to hang out with them. Yamada is in the meantime passing by on his bike and sees the scene. He wants to help but he starts to remember a scene of him fighting a bunch of guys (this will probably be explained later.) Eventually he kicks the guys aside (literally) grabs Kaoru and her guitar and rides away from the scene on his bike with her.

Upcoming Attractions: Kaoru tells Yamada that she’s known him for the last 3 years.
