Rika’s a freaking psychic! The last part of the Himatsubushi arc. The kid was found and rescued because Oishi opened a can of whoopass on the kidnappers but the bastards got away. Akasaka though, got shot in the shoulder but recovered later in the hospital.

Akasaka goes to make a phonecall to his wife from the hospital but notices the phone line’s cut off. He goes to the tabacco store and the phone booth and all the lines are cut off there as well. (Aren’t you glad we have cel phones today?) He runs into Rika and finds out she was the one who cut them all because according to her, if he makes a phone call, he will be sad. Confused on why he just shrugs and walks over to the temple with Rika. Everyone is having a “party” for the Watanagashi festival, but instead of nagashing wata (lol, ya know throwing the cotton into the river) they’re all partying and drinking like idiots.

Rika then leaves with Akasaka and goes back to the magical “voice changing” spot. There she goes into deep voice mode and basically predicts the future of Hanamizawa by telling Akasaka that the dam guy’s gonna get beat up with a bat (bara-bara satsujin), Satoko’s parents are gonna fall off the bridge, the doctor guy’s gonna die and eventually she will be killed. When Akasaka asks why she claims that it’s a fate that’s been decided for Hanamizawa. She (later in a flashback) goes on to say that she just wanted to live a normal life and she doesn’t want to die.

A few years later Akasaka is seen getting together with Oishi for a short reunion. They talk about things that happened. The time is now right after the gas accident from Tatarigoroshi arc. Akasaka tells Oishi that Rika warned him to go back to Tokyo or something bad would happen, and he figured out why she cut off all the phone lines the night of the Watanagashi festival. That same night, his wife tripped walking down the stairs of the hospital and died. The baby survived and grew up fine though. (That’s kinda weird but who knows.) Akasaka mentions how he doesn’t understand why Rika accepted her fate of dying and Oishi suggested that maybe she never asked anyone to save her. Akasaka tells him about the flash back and how she really did give an SOS and she really did want somebody to save her. Akasaka concludes that the mysteries of Hanamizawa remain unsolved to this day.

Upcoming Attractions: First Love. This is gonna be about Satoshi and Shion most likely because he’s the one who is in the preview. However I fear for this arc, and what those crazy sisters are going to do to him.
