Chr(o)no Crusade Manga: English vs Japanese
I typically only read Japanese manga but because Japan decided to obnoxiously make Chrno Crusade Volume 8 out of print (yet other volumes are readily available!) I had to wait 2 years for ADV to release the English version so I’d have the complete set. I had actually read the “last volume” from the magazines scans someone posted….BUT there was a special conclusion chapter that you could only read if you bought the tankoubon…so that’s how I came to owning the English volume 8.
But I got some Beef. Why the hell is the English version smaller than the Japanese one? Does this manga not deserve to be in its rightful size? Or is this a money making scheme to later re-release it in its proper size. Here’s a photo of the ADV volume 8 I received, next to my copy of the Japanese volume 7:
Ok so basically I admit I sunk down to the level of buying my probably only English manga (aside from those old Sailormoon Pocket Mixxes I bought in 1999) just so I could see the last and final scene of this wonderful manga. (And I’m a rabid CC fan so yea…)
Wow I’m so satisfied at this ending. I was really disappointed when I read the magazine scans and that the end was so abrupt then I heard there was going to be a special chapter in the tankoubon so I awaited and awaited…only to find out it was OUT OF PRINT :x….so I waited another 2 years for this. -_-;
Btw according to Wikipedia, the Japanese is CHRNO because there was a production goof, so apparently the ADV adaptation of CHRONO is what the Japanese originally aimed for…oh well I’m still calling it Chrno cause that’s what I’m used to.

I kind of, like, almost cried at that scene. It was a happy ending, though. It sure kicks the anime ending’s ass. ;D

I dunno what it is, but reading manga in English just feels ODD to me
wow!! you really done it this time, at last. i was not very happy with the anime’s ending so i was wondering WHY YOU GUYS DONT MAKE A OVAAAAA with this manga version hã? please please pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
some times i wish there was a better ending in both the manga and the anime seriously they die off (i cried T.T) in the anime after they tell about the profrey of fatima. Geez all in all i love the series hate the ending.
I have a question for anyone who has read the Japanese version of vol 7 and/or 8.
I’m afraid that I don’t know Japanese and I have only read the english ADV versions ^^;. (shame shame)
First, what is the deal with Chrono and Aion? In the ADV version, it suggests that Chrono and Aion are actually of human lineage, that their mother was actaully a pregnant human abducted and used for the core of pandaemonium. Does it say anything more in the Japanese about this? It was kind of unclear in the translated version.
I’m also wondering about what Aion says to Fiore in vol. 7 ch 48. In the translated version he says that he’s could be considered a distant relative to Fiore’s mother. What’s that supposed to mean? On the next page, he seems to be refering to someone in their household (I’m guessing Fiore’s father) as ‘a defector like us’ and ‘their senior’. This almost makes it seem like he is a sinner like them…
I have a few theories, but to know what the Japanese version says about these things might help.

yeah, I even need to read the volume 8 twice, Well looks like I’m not the only one that cried. But man I cried at the point when it comes to the part it shows the photo of them 4 still together, It just kinda bring back the memories when they are together and now they are falling apart, it’s just sad T.T
Well I was first introduced to Chrono Crusade when my friend started watching the anime. I’m guessing that the anime (since I didn’t watch it all) wasn’t as amazing as the manga because I remember watching some random episode of the anime and it didn’t really spark my interest. When my friend bought the mangas and and I read them I was amazed. It was beautiful. So I thought I’d watch the last episode of the anime and see if it was as amazing. (I didn’t even bother to watch the whole series)It was lame. Definetly not as good as the manga. I mean, I read the manga over ten times. It is most definetly one of my favorites. I cried so much at the end. Although I was a little confused about everything. I only read the english version though, and I heard it was translated differently or something…

I think that the manga is definetly better than the anime because there’s a lot of nonsense in the anime!^^

ok…anime i saw first, it wasnt so bad, but now when i read manga, yup manga is better…^.^but it was so sad in anime that they both died i really cried…=( & now in manga i thought that they both will be together…;)while reading manga i cried about 5 no more times…?;(;(;( especially when Rosette died…T___T man, i thought it cant be…;(i mean they died in anime & now in manga too…???;(that cant be…!!!& now yay Rosette came back to life, but still she cant be together with Chrno…???;(no way…T_T i really cried ‘cuz it seemed to me that Chrno died & Rosette was living by herself…;(i love these 3 pics…^.^but where i can find them, that final chapter/volume or whatever…?;)i want to know what really happened ‘cuz i’m really confused…;)well though it seems that after all Chrno & Rosette are together, love that…^.^please, can someone clearly explain it to me…?;)well i kinda get it from other comments but still…i want to get that final chapter & understand it…^_^i really want that Chrno & Rosette are together…=)or it’ll be that both anime & manga are so sad…=(i just cant take it…;(even thought i really love dramas,i mean sad storys ‘cuz they really take me in…i mean it really makes me feel…something, like to cry…;)hehe…just forget this…^.^

ok…i got that last chapter…even though it’s russian & i dont really understand it (well something i can read from it) it’s so sad…now i just cant stop crying…she really died…but since i cant really read it did she died in Chrno’s hands…???it’s just too sad…even though i know it’s only a story, but still…to me it’s like i live through it…something like that…can someone please tell me where can i get that last chapter in english…?;)i want to know what really happened…even if Rosette really died in Chrno’s hands when he finally came back…too sad…life really is’nt fair…
