Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - 14

Published by Hinano at 11:31 pm under Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni

Hey it was nice knowing you Bobby! See you in heaven! If you thought the previous arc went slow, I suggest you grab your pillows while watching this one! :P This is also the only arc so far that doesn’t start with some gruesome scene. So apparently this arc came “before” to the previous 3 arcs, and it’s now from the point of view of Akasaka-san and Keiichi is basically out of the picture. (But that’s okay I guess because this guy looks like Keiichi + 10 years anyway.)

Akasaka-san comes to the Village of the Damned, aka Hinamizawa to investigate a case about a missing child. He first runs into Rika, who apparently plays an important role in this arc, but everytime she says “ni-pa” and “mi”, Oyashiro-sama kills a villager. (←That is sarcasm please do not take it seriously!) Anytime some kind of topic comes up around her regarding mysteries of the village and the whole dam controversy, she just says “I don’t know what you’re talking about” or goes on with the mi’s and nipa’s again. The most interesting part is when Rika asks him why he’s there, he lies by telling her that he has come to just “take some photos” of the scenery. Rika answers by going “Oh, you’re Tomitake-san #2!” and he goes “What?” she of course answers with a nipa. Does this mean that the Tomitake guy has died previous to the whole thing with Keiichi?

I'm trying to be scary and failing miserably. Rika walks with him to the edge of the cliff (where the damn is supposed to be/where Satoko’s parents fell off) and suddenly a wind blows and she turns around and turns into Rena mode…aka she gets a weird look in her eyes (although I thought that it was more obvious with Mion/Rena) and her voice gets all deep and she continues by saying “Go back to Tokyo tomorrow. Don’t stick your nose into this village business anymore” etc. Then the wind blows again and she passes out. Good acting, or is there indeed an evil posessing spirit flying around? Cause I was starting to believe Keiichi was on crack, but this guy looks like the lights are on, so I’m starting to change my thoughts on that.

Those dam bastards! We'll show them what you get for messing with the Sonozaki's! Come on guys whip out the heavy artillery. Enter evil granny. She appears to be head of the Sonozakis and she’s pissed about the whole dam thing. In fact as you watch the episode there’s signs everywhere that say “Get outta here!” “Go die from Oyashiro-sama’s curse!” and the like. The meeting is something that this other police guy tells Akasaka in a car at night in the middle of the forest (why?) Apparently they know about the kidnapped kid and they know about Akasaka coming to investigate, even though that was not supposed to be revealed to anyone outside police matters. There we go! The preview for episode 15 is done! So they’re holding this meeting basically plotting their next victim (and prepearing their nail boxes ) and then Rika who also happens to be there asks about the “man” that came to visit. She describes him in a weird manner and acts as if she has no idea who he is, but in actuality we see her doodling a picture of her walking with him holding hands.

The episode ends with Ooishi telling Akasaka that he got some new evidence in regarding the missing kid and that he knows of a possible place where he might be. Akasaka asks him to take him there, and Ooishi agrees, but then puts on what appears to be a bullet proof vest and offers Akasaka to do the same.

Next week’s preview is basically Rika’s drawing. If I made any errors in this please correct me, as there was a LOTTT of talking and it was a bit on the difficult side.
