Personally for some reason I thought the kiss in the novel was more exciting than when watching the episode. Perhaps because the novel spoiled me and I already knew what was going to happen about a month ago :P. Overall I liked it. I don’t think there will be a sequel. Based on all the novels, it looks like they took chunks from the other novels as well for this series so making a sequel would be senseless in my opinion. Now all that’s left to do is perhaps rewatch this series in its correct order.

You have underestimated the novels…^_^
There are at least two major story arcs involving Yuki and Mikuru, with enough plot twists to give you a whiplash. I presume you haven’t reach “Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi” in the novel series?
No I haven’t yet I only read the first 2 novels and sorta skimmed through the others. So I guess I’m basing it on that but if the story is enough to fullfill another 14 episode series I guess there is a possibility of a sequel.
For some reason though it just feels like the anime is “complete”. I’ve seen this happen before where they made you feel “complete” with the anime even though it didn’t cover the whole story of the manga (or in this case, novel.)

It feels “complete” i guess, since it stopped at a more or less resolved point in time. Nevertheless, the first book was a great read. I can’t wait for them to be translated so i can find out the conspiracy theories about kyon.
Yea I’ve tried like 2342342 plugins yesterday to get the dumb anti-spam crap working. Then I had a friend test out comments for me and then I realized no one could comment so I took it off (and the spam came back.) It’s really annoying >_<…I’m gonna have to try some more stuff later today ~_~;.
For this series, I feel that I am one of the few who did not convert to Haruhiism after watching it. I dropped this series in the middle because it got so boring and because of the shounen plot (or a lack of) devices (harem, fanservice, etc). The first episode was the bang that started the whole Haruhiism thing, and I have to say that the not many of the episodes that followed it matched its greatness. The episode shuffling simply does not help because the character development cannot be measured correctly. Episode 12 is what revived my willingness for watch Haruhi again, and I will watch the entire series (in order, of course) just for that episode.
As for the sequel, I think that it’s likely. I mean it’s a material world, and anyone with the slightest intelligence will take advantage of its popularity until people get tired of it like they did with pokemon, yu-gi-oh and shows like that.
True…but Japan doesnt seem to take advantage of that…or else why the hell would Chrno Crusdade volume 8 go out of print while all the others are still available for purchase >_> Apparently Moriyama Daisuke just “doesn’t want to make more money”
One thing though, you’d appreciate how unique everyone around you are as did in the anime. Even if you’re just a single drop in the sea of people, that drop even has its own color *O_O kyon is that you =))*
Anyway, I’d say I loved this series, and am looking forward in obtaining the manga
Did anyone saw the 3-part video clip of the upcoming second season of Suzumiya Haruhi of how she and Kyon are at the school grounds through several security cameras, where Suzumiya is showing Kyon how to draw strange-looking lines? (it is up on YouTube if you find it)

but one question
how did this series get popular from the start?
